What is the Year of the Echidna event?
2024 was Knuckles’ 30th anniversary, but a certain hedgehog overshadowed him. We say: no fair! It’s time to give Knuckles his due diligence. 2025 is going to be the Year of The Echidna!
For the next 51 weeks of this year, we will be posting a weekly prompt to inspire artists of all kinds to draw our favorite echidna.
Every Wednesday we will release a new prompt. Creators will have the rest of the week to post their fanart, fanfic, etc. To have your piece featured on the event page, just tag @year-of-the-echidna.
Starting January 8th, 2025 with 51 prompts total, the event will go the entire year!

FAQ
What can I post?
The event is open to art of all types including fanart, fanfiction, playlists etc. Whatever your creative endeavor, all are welcome!
Can I post about other Sonic characters?
Other characters can be included but Knuckles should be the main focus. This year is all about him!
Can I post nsfw?
You are welcome to create whatever the prompt inspires, but in accordance with tumblr’s TOS we will be unable to reblog anything that wouldn’t be allowed in a PG13 movie. We encourage all creators to tag their posts appropriately!
Do I have to follow the prompts?
No! The prompts are guidelines. Follow your heart!
What if I finish a prompt early/late?
While we prefer you post within each prompt’s timeframe, early and late submissions will still be reblogged until the end of the first week of January 2026.
Which version(s) of Knuckles are welcome?
We welcome all versions of Knuckles, whether they be canon, fanon, or alternate universe versions!
Can I draw my OCs?
Yes! As long as Knuckles is the central character, OCs are welcome.
What about ships?
We have no shipping restrictions. Be mindful to tag things and remember that we will only reblog content that could be rated PG13 or lower.
Can I use AI?
We will not reblog AI artwork or fanfiction.
