One of the most beautiful aspects of severance is all thanks to Tramell Tillman.
He came in and asked does Mr. Milchick know he’s black. He bright true joy and beauty when Mr. Milchick dances to Jazz when he leds a black marching band. He adds so much depth to his character that when Helly includes Mr Milchick in her speech it’s clear that he too has been severed not through some medical prodecude but how he’s had to sever ever reminder that he is a black man to survive in Lumon.
It’s an incredible metaphor for code switching and for double consciousness, but it also DOES NOT HAPPEN, without the great Tramell Tillman. HE asked that question, HE brought race into the for front at severance, and HE is responsible for part of why the show is just as powerful as it is.
