adding ur tags becus thats my EXACT thoughrs that i hadnt been able to put into words !!! its extra interesting to me becus abe and tobio learn very different lessons from their middle school sports traumas, abe's whole "i hate pitchers who shake their head at me" and having to unlearn that mentality vs tobio being so badly affected by the "king of the court" events that he tries SO HARD to give tosses the spikers want (for the senpai at least) that atsumu calls him a "goody two shoes" and he has to learn its okay to have expectations of the spikers just as they have expectations of him and that above all the most important thing is communication (which actually now that i think abt it is very close to MIHASHI learning its okay to shake his head! because its about communication!!!!!!)

⬆️ and this realization also ties into my thoughts about the roles of pitcher and catcher vs setter and spiker bc the pitcher and the setter are both the ones delivering the ball to the other but its the CATCHER and setter making the decisions based on the opposition (strengths/preferences/status of the batter vs positioning of the blockers) (at least initially, until mihashi begins to feel comfortable shaking his head and hinata demands he be given tosses that allow him to fight his own mid-air battles and becomes a collaborative effort!! TEAMWORK!!!!!)

also re: how they would interact i also think its soooo interesting bc abe and tobio are so similar but mihashi and hinata are SO DIFFERENT (at least in outward personality) but i also think the two of them would get along well, becus hinata can befriend almost anyone and he has that sort of tajima energy that mihashi seems to mesh well with. meanwhile i think abe would be like. mildly irritated by both of them but without a good reason to be and tobio would be like 🧍‍♂️ <- just kinda standing there letting hinata do most of the socializing. mihashi would be scared of kageyama at first (which pisses abe off) but hinata is like "nah he's harmless lol"
