Also I’ve never had any trouble separating actors from their roles but I’m scared of Paul Mescal now. I have seen a lot of theatre and I’ve never been so scared of a character as I was scared of his Stan Kowalski. From his very first appearance he made my skin crawl and every time he came back I was scared he was gonna kill one of the women even though I know that’s not how the play goes. Chilling wretched little creature I could not be around him if I knew him in real life

In the fight leading up to the rape scene, he literally gets down on all fours like an animal and starts cornering her and growling at her. You’re thinking this shouldn’t work and would come off corny/comical but it’s perhaps one of the most chilling things I’ve ever seen in my life

Been getting really into Star Trek tos lately. If you ever decide to brave the slow pacing I'll be so excited for your liveblogging. I mean we been knew k/s inspired modern fandom but seeing them playing and inventing the hits is a whole ass experience.

One episode a woman goes 'I can know recognize that voice on the comm as genuine because he's my husband' [ten minutes later] Spock clocks that a perfect facsimile of Kirk's voice is off. Twice women are luring every other men with feminine wiles or whatever and just doesn't work on Kirk or Spock funny thing. Kirk gives a speech on how he behaves towards someone he loves and would you look at that it matches his behaviour towards Spock perfectly exactly. Spock declares Kirk's goodness and stability of equal certainty as the laws of gravity and deadass tries to pass this as objective logical courtroom evidence.

They looooove getting their hands all over each other in dangerous situations and otherwise sidling up close so close just a centimeter from touching without ever bridging the gap. Spock revolves around protecting Kirk (physically emotionally professionally) so hard its almost embarrassing. Kirk melts into lethally gentle gazes every time Spock has the audacity to exist in his presence it is embarrassing. Nearly every episode ends (and often begins) with an emotional check in/flirting session. I've barely scratched the surface of the things I've seen. I've watched twenty-four episodes.

Maybe one day! I’ve seen a few of the “famous” episodes! I really admire it from a craft/history of TV perspective but it never really clicked for me or hooked me in to watch more. I feel like in addition to the pacing being bad, I just don’t connect with Shatner’s acting at all which is a huge barrier to entry since he’s like…there the whole time

So how was streetcar?

So good. Rebecca Frecknell (also director of the new cabaret) has done it again. The entire cast was so breathtaking. Everyone went on about Patsy Ferran and Paul Mescal so much that I didn’t realize Anjana Vasan of we are lady parts/black mirror fame was in it??! She ate the fuck down.

Man I forgot how much I love Tennessee Williams. He’s always like: ooooh it’s so hot in the south. there’s an angry man in your house. diva off. somebody’s gay. and it slaps. Every. Single. Time.

ok now that it’s been a while and I’ve seen other musicals from this season I’m ready to say I do not get the sunset boulevard hype. Like I thought it was more than good it was GREAT but it wasn’t like…obsession worthy should sweep all the awards it’s all anyone’s talking about great

the only actively bad part of sunset Blvd is right before Tom Francis does the famous walk outside he walks around backstage of the show and it’s just a bunch of fourth wall breaking gags and references for no fucking reason. He walks past a cut out of Andrew Lloyd Webber and just points at it…like for what reason
