these are all me in my next life btw
#these are mostly Foraminifera and I once spent a month sorting through thousands of these on a microscope slide#I did resent them terribly for a while but I respect them too much for any of it to stick#they were 40 million years old#their shells hold chemical memories of the water temperature and salinity#so we can use them to reconstruct past sea levels#we can read the shapes of dead continents through the bodies of these creatures#we can track cycles of earthโs orbital precession in space#so I guess even if you donโt get to come back as a beautiful microscopic grain of sand something will (@catadromously )

"what if a dangerous man pretends to be trans to-" what if we actually dealt with the underlying causes of dangerous men. what if predators faced real consequences more often. what if you stopped using trans women as a proxy for your grievances with liberal feminism's individualist denial of the need to fight systemic issues.
what if you stopped assigning blame for patriarchy's evils to one of its more vulnerable victim groups.
#I noticed transphobia really hit the mainstream here after sarah everard when women finally had enough of being told what they need to do#because she did everything weโre told to do and it still wasnโt enough#so we said no weโre sick of this the men need to do something the men need to call it out and change their behaviour#for a moment it felt like finally something was shifting#and then of course the men didnโt like that so the actual message was shut down and lost and suddenly transphobia was everywhere#โlook this is the real problem!โ because they couldnโt hack being asked to adjust their behaviour or call out their friends#and the scare tactics somehow worked and infected everywhere#like it was always thereโฆbut it really ramped up after that

Annnd as for Steve's share of characters, we must say goodbye to Arthur Flitwick (who, as expected, got 0% of the votes overall. Poor guy.) We also say goodbye to Felix Hughes, Dr. Jasper Parkway, and Kenny </3 Who I felt were pretty strong contenders tbh! I quite like Jasper. Moving on, we have Darren and Robert! Both of which are pretty deserving I think.
In Poll 4, it's certainly quite a battle! I'm very excited to see who will come out victorious!
