“y/n?”

the soft rustle of fabric, a whisper of a sigh in the darkness of night. the silence is heavy, leaving room for nothing else but the gentle cadence of your breathing and the call of your name into the void. but then you’re shifting, pressing yourself into the warm embrace of his body, and he cannot help but smile.

“mm?”

“do you think we’d still be together in an alternate universe?”

his fingers hover over the curve of your spine, the rise and fall of your hips. he traces lines, circles, patterns into your skin, warmth glowing at his fingertips all the while. you hum, and he can feel the vibration of the sound against his chest - calming, grounding, so utterly and unequivocally you in a way that nearly knocks the breath from his lungs. 

“go to sleep.”

your voice is laden with drowsiness and fatigue, the words melding together like the crystal depths of your eyes. but they are closed now, and so he leans forward, a hand tangling in your hair to kiss your forehead fondly. what he wouldn’t give to kiss you like this, every time.

lucky him, then.

he kisses along the edge of your cheekbone, across your cheeks and the bridge of your nose and the upward curve of your mouth. at last, he lets his lips brush across the tip of your nose before pulling away. tucking a lock of your hair behind your ear, he starts, “what if we already got married and have five kids-”

you groan, turning over and burying your head into the juncture of his neck and collarbone. “go to sleep, jaehyun,” you mumble, your arms encircling his body as you press a kiss to the point where his pulse beats just under his skin.

a smile tugs at his cheeks, and he lets out a breathy laugh, his palm slipping down from the nape of your neck to rest against your back. “okay,” he says, drawing the blanket around your shoulders up with his other hand. “good night, jagiya.”

your response is muffled, and yet he can feel the shape of your words, feels the movement of your lips against his skin. 

good night. i love you.

me wondering why i see spots in my vision, ignoring the fact that it's been a full 30 hours without a single piece of food, or water, or ounce of sleep + 25k steps taken running on fumes: ... hmm ... interesting

every once a few months i get these bouts of sleepless nights and every time i am reminded how much more of pathetic of a person i can become. how to explain to ppl that no i didn't have caffeine, itself jut my fight or flight going haywire for days on end and im buzzing like im on vibrate mode internally 24/7 and my eyes are burning but my heart rate says hell nah
