one thing i love in GGG is the shared heart motif between Inspekta and King. its so compelling to me and works so wonderfully to showcase them as foils - forgive me if i ramble about it for a bit!

in the paintings we see of King and in her god form, she bears a heart in her chest. and it's not just any simplified one either, it's her actual heart. it's real, it's visceral, it's bleeding, there's no denying what it is, but it's genuine. sometimes it can be too much to look at, but it says "whether you care for it or not, I'm here and I'm authentic". she's comfortable to have that vulnerability, baring your heart means accepting the harm that might come with it, but also how beautiful it can be to live in sincerity

now Inspekta - all his hearts are "fakes". some are red, most are gold. you see heart shapes stamped everywhere: posters, merch, the van, his hat, even the Bizzys tails that curl up when they see him. it's very in your face, but for all there are, it's still only the shape of a heart - not an actual heart. they're convincing, but they're not entirely real. it's cute, it's digestible, all the good parts with none of the bad. a heart he paints on to distract everyone, they'll see him in the perfect image he wants, and he can still hide his true, insecure heart from vulnerability. but in doing so he only ends up harming himself, feeding those insecurities further because he can't accept the harm that comes with baring your heart open

and especially when you think about that they were friends before the game events, it makes their shared motif that much more interesting - how much did they influence each other?
