K/S Spring Fever 2025 is happening!

Happy New Year! Let's start into 2025 by signing up for K/S Spring Fever and collecting all the prompts! https://archiveofourown.org/collections/KS_SpringFever2025/profile

Here's our schedule for 2025:

Sign-ups and prompt posts: Jan 1 - Jan 31 Prompt claims and creation period: Jan 1 - March 10 Works due: March 10 Works revealed: March 22 Creators revealed: March 26

The time for all these steps is: 12:01 AM UTC.

Rules and FAQs can be found on the AO3 collection profile. They are pretty much the same as in previous years, but it's worth checking them out for a quick refresher.

This event, much like K/S Advent, is strongly supported by the KiScon crowd, which is why we do not offer a separate Discord server for these events, but have channels in the official KiScon server. If you are looking for a place to chat about the event and cheer each other on in our creative endeavours, join us! (Link to be found on the KiScon website ;-) )

Here's the promised masterlist (in 3 parts, because otherwise Tumblr gets overwhelmed by all the slashy goodness):

Part 2 follows here, and part 3 is here.

*looks at date*

Hello my lovelies. Today is 3/18, roughly 7 pm EST. This is your final, final frontier reminder to reach out to me if you are having any issues with posting your spring fever fills. I can help, but not if you don't tell me! I would ask that you either poke me on discord or msg me directly so I make sure I get it. Or if you need it, my email is 1lostone at kiscon dot org.

Hi, I'm taking part in the K/S Spring Fever and was just wondering, is it okay to post things a little late? I don't know that I'll have it up by the 10th but I'd still like to take part

Hello! Please contact the mod 1lostone and she can work with you on an extension. You can reach out on tumblr or email her at 1lostone1 at gmail !

Look at all these shiny prompts!!

Sign-ups are now closed! 127 prompts have been submitted, by 43 people:

Claiming and creation phase is in full swing! Reminder: you do not need to be signed-up in order to claim and fill prompts! Any AO3 user can fill a prompt. All posted works will be "hidden" from sight until the big reveal on March 22.

All kinds of transformative works are welcome at K/S Spring Fever

Here's a quick reminder that K/S Spring Fever is all about the diversity of fanworks and welcomes all kinds of creations: fic, traditional art, digital art, crafts, fibre and 3D art, cake art, poetry, vids, podfic, drabbles, meta, etc. Any prompt, no matter how it is phrased, can be used as inspiration for all kinds of fannish creations, in any medium. Yes, most people phrase their prompt for fic, but if it inspired you to make a K/S cake for it or explore the prompt via cross-stitching – go for it! As long as you respect the DNWs of the prompt, it is fine!

This being said: You cannot DNW a fannish medium in the prompts; we understand, however, if you need to include a preference in your prompt description; e.g. if you cannot enjoy vids or art due to visual impairment or migraine, please let us know in the description. While this is not a one-on-one gift exchange, and therefore this is not about tailoring a gift for you, it is of course important to us to see prompts being filled in a way that the prompter can enjoy. Stating a preference or limitation (ideally phrased in a positive way, not just "I hate x") will hopefully attract creators who can make something enjoyable for you.

However, if someone still feels inspired by your prompt to make that vid, then they can still do it, though, for the wider audience of K/S Spring Fever. (TWs appreciated, when there's flashing lights etc.)

For the same reason we encourage fanworks in languages other than English. I might not be able to read the Swedish K/S fic that my prompt inspired, but someone else will.

There are very little limitations in our rules concerning the kinds of fanworks you can submit.

One is: no banner or icon art, unless it accompanies a work of fiction. We love banner and icon art, too, but the work must be sufficiently transformative; if it is more on the side of screencap-with-a-caption-and-filter, then it is not eligible (unless it is part of a fic post, for example, or a podfic cover). Same for gifs. If the banner/icon/gif art is an actual manip or fanart, then it can certainly go into the collection. In case of doubt, just ask us.

The other, really big No is AI-generated "works". Just... don't.

Refresher: rules and FAQs.

Happy prompting and creating! We cheer you on!!

Shit, does anyone know if the K/S Press is still being made? I haven't been around for awhile and I don't see anything online

OMG, hi! I just screamed a bit when seeing your message. A flash from the past! The K/S Press has been long out of print (both the actual print version and the mailed, digital version), BUT... ...there is the K/S Gazette, born out of the KiScon newsletter, a more or less monthly mail with news from the world of K/S. You can sign up here: https://kiscon.org (scroll down to the bottom of the page; there's a field for the newsletter).

Verrrry last call for last-minute submissions!

Tomorrow, March 26, 12:01 AM UTC, the wonderful creators of the Kirk/Spock Spring Fever works will be revealed. The collection will get closed for posting a few hours later.

So now's the time to sneak in that super-last-minute work that you want to see in our 2024 collection.

Now's also the time to do some more guessing who created what, before the mystery shall be unveiled!

I hope you are enjoying the fest so far! <3

Past submission deadline - but you can still post works!

Aaaaand we are past the official posting deadline!

A big, heartfelt thank you from the mods to everyone who managed to submit their work(s) on time. The cup of our 2024 collection runneth over with K/S goodness. 80 works have been posted so far!

"So far"? You ask. What does the mod mean by "so far" if we are past the deadline anyway...?

So here's the thing: you can still post to the collection. If real life kept you from fannish endeavours, or you ran out of energy or time, or the muse was just uncooperative, please do not throw away your idea or your half-written work, but keep working on it.

We have deadlines in order to make the mods' life a bit easier, and to ensure that there are enough works in the collection before it goes live on the 22nd, and also to give y'all a push to get things done. With the collection now flowing over with riches, we can afford to be lenient and actively encourage you to complete what you started, or to add one more work if you happened to stumble upon another inspiring prompt just now. (See the prompt list here.)

The works will go live on Friday, 22 March 2024, 12:01 AM UTC, with their creators still being kept secret at that point. Creators will be revealed at the closing of the fest, on Tuesday, 26 March 2024, 12:01 AM UTC. This is also the cut-off moment when the collection will be closed to submissions.

But until then... feel free to post your fic, art, poetry, podfic etc. Just make sure to have it complete and in its final version when you post it. If you have any questions or need help with anything (e.g. how to embed images, how to post etc), please get in touch with us here.

Thank you all so much for taking part in our event! <3
