An account of an Newly Qualified Teacher's journey into teaching Design & Technology to high school students and what she does along the way to keep herself from going mad.

Love your blog, you've been through so much and you are just beyond an amazing person Can I ask How did you get into teaching ? Did you do a PCGE Course? I ve always wanted to teach it's just I've decided to do a diploma which is equivalent to a PCGE. It so hard fitting it around a full time job. I also wanted to ask you how did you deal with working with negative people in your old job ( I am currently working with a few negative people and it's so overwhelming and it gets to me sometimes)

Hey thanks :)I did an ITT course which was a degree and teacher training in one. Was supposed to be a three year thing. I managed it in four and a half.In regards to negativity, find people who support you. There will be someone. I had to leave my department every break and lunchtime and go to a different building just to maintain what composure I had. It was the people around me who got me through it in the last few months. Its a tough job and someone will have your back.In the end though, despite the help of those around me, I knew I had to leave. As much as it felt like admitting defeat, it was the best thing I ever did. Don't be afraid of walking away from a situation you know isn't right and won't be fixed. For me that meant spending six months unemployed, near penniless and isolated. But I was finally able to get another job and on my bad days I'm still happier than the best days at my last school.Things will work out I promise. You'll be amazing.

I am still heartbroken about Brexit so I attempted to cheer myself up with trying to make a playsuit without a pattern. Still furious but at least now I have something to wear for my university reunion next fortnight.

How are things going with not-so-new job?

Theyre going great thanks. I love my school and the students and my classes and all but one of the teachers I work with.Work is pretty great if you discount the exam and coursework stress ๐Ÿ˜ฃ

My white board got a makeover for IDAHO ๐Ÿ˜™

The summer before last I bought a dress on sale that was a size too small for me. It is the only green thing I own so in desperation I put it on this morning. It was such a sublime moment when I realised that the thing fit me like a glove. Its so nice getting reminders of your progress.

Iโ€™ve lost 16lbs since the start of January and as much as I love the food Iโ€™m eating, the feeling of my body changing and the fact I can now sleep more than 2 hours a night, more than anything I love that I can now buy trousers that fit me properly.

It's OK I still wish you all the best

(In reference to your Harry Potter coloring book) WHAT COLORING PENCILS DO YOU USE?? And do you have any idea where to get metallic ones? I haven't started coloring in mine yet because I don't know what kind to use.

Hey. I used a staedtler set my sister got for me with the colouring in book. I'm not sure on metallic pencils, I just tried to make mine look metallic through different tone and shade so can't help you there I'm afraid ๐Ÿ˜ž

I've had a rough few days so two hours spent colouring in was needed. Cue Harry Potter colouring book my sister got me for Christmas. Didn't manage to get much shading but I hope by the time I get to the best crest (Ravenclaw) I'll have my skills up to scratch.

Walking to school has become a little bit magical since the clocks went back.

Every year my school has a charity week where events are run every break and lunch to raise money for charities voted for by the student body. On the Friday everyone, staff and students, dresses up. As next week will be my first time doing it since joining the school, I wanted to make a good impression. Spent the weekend making this costume. I'm going to donate the money I saved not buying a costume to the school's efforts.
