Every time i see a nesta anti post on my fyp, I thank God I was born with common sense
Nesta is an abusive piece of shit, the idea that you find her comforting is whatever but the fact is many people look at her and are triggered by her incredibly self centered, victimizing mindset where she takes her hurt out on everyone around her.
*sighs* @ladydeatharcheron help me
*sighs* where do i even start.
nesta stans are able to differentiate between reality and fiction. we understand that nesta is simply a character, and not the person that hurt us in our past. if words on paper trigger you to the point where you have to anonymously comment on a page YOU KNOW is pro nesta, then i suggest taking a step back. go seek therapy. there is absolutely nothing wrong with going to see someone about a traumatic event you might’ve experienced during your life. it’s much more respectable than someone who is suffering in silence, and in turn wants to make others suffer by spreading negativity online. at the end of the day, nesta is a fictional character. you are a very real person spreading hate in a place that doesn’t belong there, nor is it wanted.
something i have noted with nesta antis is that they are so convinced that nesta is the person that hurt them, to the point where they will twist what the author herself has written in order to place nesta in a narrative that suits them. she is NOT the villain in this series. nesta hasn’t been self-centered or selfish ONCE in her life. she was always protecting elain. she was willing to whore herself out to the man that assaulted her, both sexually and physically, to help out her family because it was the only way she knew how to pitch in. she walked through unknown woods to find her sister. she even gave her last cent to do so. even after she was turned into a specie she was taught to hate, nesta contributed to the war effort. she tended to the wounded and scried. she used her voice to convince both the high lords and mortal queens to join their efforts. she used her own body to shield cassian, a man she had no particular relation to at that point in time. she held the line for her friends during the blood rite, knowing it would mean certain death for her. she motivated the priestesses and helped them overcome their fears. she gave away the powers she was slowly getting used to, just to save her feyre’s life. i won’t even get started with what she did in cc3, because it’s the epitome of selflessness.
nesta does not have a “victim mindset”. she WAS a victim. she was ripped away from her home, experienced literal torture from the cauldron, and turned into something she was raised to hate and fear. she watched her father get killed in front of her eyes. she was SAed both by tomas and the kelpie. she was groomed and beaten as a child. she was neglected by her father. the list goes on and on. and despite everything, nesta managed to overcome her trauma and grow into a better person. you know who hasn’t done that yet? nesta antis. 😬
if you want to hate nesta for whatever petty reason, go ahead. but at least make sure you a) get your facts straight, and b) do so on nesta anti pages, and not the ones that enjoy her as a character.
why is Elain week 99% el/riel content?
don't get me wrong, despite my personal preferences, i don't particularly care who ends up with who as long as it's well-written. but isn't the purpose of this week to bring light to Elain as a character? why has it suddenly shifted to being about a man? Elain is so much more than the ships she is being reduced to. she deserves to have her own week, where SHE is the main topic, where people can enjoy and post about her as a person, and not have her entire personality diminished to "how good she'd look with xyz". there is nothing wrong with shipping whoever you want to, but there's a time and place for everything. this is not it.
Elain has always been sidelined her entire life, forced to sit in the position her family has shaped for her. now, you're telling me you want to do the same during a week where she's supposed to be celebrated? whether you like it or not, it's raising the question of, are you guys really pro Elain or do you only care for her based on who she ends up with? c’mon guys. the female characters of ACOTAR have so much more to them than the men they are / could possibly be involved with.
disclaimer because I can already hear some of y'all coming from a mile away: I get that there has been some elucien fanart as well, but from what I could see, the el/riel posts are dominant. i’ve had to scroll through 13 el/riel posts (yes, i counted) before I can come across a single one involving Lucien. only 2-3 posts were about Elain herself, and in some of those, Azriel was tagged despite, quite literally, not being involved.
my point is, regardless of what character it is, if it's not a week that involves a specific ship, let's not take the spotlight away from that character in question.
