Ditty can I ask, how do you feel better after a fic you've been excited for crashes and burns after posting it? Im feeling mega demotivated rn
I'm probably the worst person to ask about this because I have a real "your boos mean nothing to me because I've seen what makes you clap" mentality when it comes to fanfic.
Over time, I have seen too many incredible writers be neglected while the most bare bones "let's hit all the popular tropes even if they're not relevant to this character" writers thrive and gain popularity. And where it sucks is that you can feel the lack of sincerity in the latter as they (at times admittedly) only chase popular characters/trends and never seem to have anything to say that isn't just the most stereotypical "fanon-y" takes. But they thrive because that's what has been shown to appeal to the lowest common denominator.
I know having something that you've been passionate about flop when you share it fucking sucks! Part of writing is craving that validation that the idea you've had floating in your skull is worth a damn in some way and to not have that confirmed in any way can be a bitter pill to swallow. But trust me when I say that you CANNOT measure your success on how something performs on tumblr (which is where I'm guessing you shared it).
Measuring a fics worth in likes and reblogs is not an accurate representation of the love that's gone into a piece or how brilliant it truly is. And accepting that is not an easy thing so I hope that you are able to be at peace with that sooner rather than later or you're in for a bad time, love.
commission for my friend ever...
this gets funnier every year
The year is 2042. Your daughter is awkwardly silent as she eats her dinner. “Something wrong sweetie?” She sighs and puts down her fork. “I was digging really deep in AO3 last night…Why didn’t you finish that coffee shop au?” It happened. Your past has come back to haunt you. Nay, it never truly left.
U CANNOT OUTRUN UR CRIME
OKAY BUT WAIT. This has happened to me. Recently. Because I am old and I have things out there from previous fandoms with previous pseuds and one day my teenager begins a rant at me about people never finishing any WIPs on the pit of voles (which he does not call the pit of voles because he has No Knowledge of such a thing but yet he still reads on which I didn’t think anyone did any longer) and he points out an example to me of something I WROTE AND LEFT WIPing for ages and he has NO IDEA #1 that his mom wrote this and #2 How much it still haunts me to this day that it will. sit. there. for. eternity. because I am too lazy to pull it down.
oh my god
Every year, this becomes both more funny, and more painful, and for both of those reasons, it should never be lost or forgotten.
Im lucky my ships dont go furder that 2014
I don’t think I’ve ever been more excited while reading a TMNT comic than I am right now. This new crossover series showcases an art style very similar to the old BTAS comics, and the third issue ends with a cliffhanger that introduces Jonathan Crane! I’m eagerly awaiting the next spooky installment!
Batman/TMNT Adventures #3
Hi I saw your question about the Riddler.
I think a good way to differentiate the Joker and The Riddler when it comes to purple is through what shades you use like the Riddler would be in much darker richer purples whereas the Joker would be in like bright purples . Also I think Eddie is a gold kind of guy because it is expensive looking.
But a funny little tidbit The Joker and The Riddler also tend to have orange in both there designs
Sincerely Nox
Right? Sharing three colors is diabolical.
I kinda like joker being in darker purples cuz it reflects his character better. He's not a fun friendly clown in bright happy colors, he's a psychotic criminal, so I think a darker purple would reflect that sentiment.
The yellow or orange in his design indicates [usually] the feeling or happiness and good vibes in general but in his case it also means a warning like caution tape...like hey this guy is a ticking bomb that could go off in any minute.
I still think the brighter magenta replacing the purple could work for his design, as a happy brightness that contrasts with his inner darkness.
I'm interested in experimenting with the shades of his colors
!!! RIDDLER ART !!!
My first full piece :3
Love that he lives right next to ace chemicals <3
That's a disaster waiting to happen and he's probably next door neighbors with scarecrow cuz this is his favourite place to visit <3
Throwing a gas bomb in Eddie's window just for funziez everytime he drops by💚💚
I do really like her mechanic getup but I’m not yet sold on her riddler costume. It doesn’t feel like hers.
If you guys have any suggestions or cool ideas. Also do you think riddlers should have purple in their designs? I’m personally on the fence about purple and green because it’s so joker. I don’t hate the color combo, just the villain it resembles. I feel like riddler would agree and try to steer away from purple and green.
Purple and black are cool but I’m very for the warm browns too.
Also is riddler a gold or silver gal in your opinion?
Pertaining to the questions you posed to us with your female Riddler designs, here are my opinions:
For the green and purple thing, I think it's fine if the purple is mostly kept as an accent color, like how green is an accent color for the Joker. Riddler is green with purple while the Joker is purple with green, if that makes sense?
And as for the gold vs. silver, its really a matter of how sassy and full of themselves your Riddler is. Mine, for example, believes himself to be truly one of the most important people in the world, so he wears gold with minor silver accents. It also depends on what shade of green your Riddler is wearing. The brighter, more neon? Gold. Darker, more forest? Silver. Those are both very valid ways of choosing. I think silver fits your fem Riddler though tbh.
(Sorry if its confusing.)
Sincerely, Prince.
Well hi there Prince. Thank you for your thoughts, I really appreciate it.
The biggest offense that I take to them having similar color palettes is that they blend together and that's a personal gripe of mine as an artist. Especially with how their personalities clash so much.
But also it wouldn't make sense to have them both share similar colors, Or would it? I think it's ironic that they do.
Here's a thought. I feel that with the joker being a more psychotic, dangerous and clearly more popular criminal that the color palette of green and purple would be much more associated with him,
and since Riddler has probably heard a bunch of people telling him [against their better judgement] that he's a Joker knock-off or a wannabe just cuz he wears similar colors, and the fact he's gotten sick of it nor does he want his genius, intellectual self important ego to be in any way, shape or form associated with the likes of a dimwit psychotic freak of a lunatic like the joker [his words probably]
That he reached the conclusion he should probably rebrand and steer away from purple in general.
Sicking only to green, which didn't really get rid of all the allegations but helped alittle.
I personally feel like the riddler wouldn't want his image to be compared or mistaken for that of the Joker's, which is his main reason why he'd rebrand. Yeah joker is more purple than green but also his green hair is so iconic to his look, it's more memorable. Leaving the Riddler being called a joker wannabe no matter what, just cuz he happed to share a favourite color with Gotham's most beloathed clown. 💜💚 It's a sad time to be a Riddler.
