except it's thursday! (or friday, depending)

I'm a day late because, like @harrie-leithillustration has said before, I am the work in progress this week. (This month.) (This life.)

My depression has been really bad lately so my therapist is helping me find a new psychiatrist. The prospect of changing my meds after being on this current dose for the past three years is scary but hopefully it means my brain won't be such a terrible place.

In less depressing news, I have started watching 911 because I have fomo and seeing y'all talk about it had me wanting to join in the fun.

Watching a new tv show does mean that almost all my writing has taken a back seat (that was happening anyways, I was having too many bad thoughts to write.) Thank you to @facewithoutheart with all of the advice on how to relocate the energy/motivation to write! I'm excited to try out your techniques while my wife is away next weekend.

Watching a new tv show also means an insane outpouring of visual art so here we go!

TRC reread post 1

It's been a few years since I last read The Raven Cycle, so thought it would be fun to share some thoughts as I go.

Initial musings while listening to The Raven Boys prologue:

  • The music!! If you haven't listened to the audiobooks, you might not know Maggie Stiefvater composed and performed music for each of the books, and it is pure magic.
  • Will Paton (audiobook narrator) is incredible and having listened to his voice for all 4 TRC books and The Dreamer Trilogy (about 80 hours of audio in total) his narration feels like home. It is full of magic!
  • Spring feels so fitting to start listening to TRB. St Mark's day is less than a month away and this book is so full of that same sense of potential that spring has.
  • The women of 300 Fox Way, I love them and want to draw them. They are so distinct and such a wonderful femme counterpart to the Gangsey.
  • Blue's gloves hit me every time as the most quintessentially teenage fashion choice. Style over practicality even though there is no audience and she now has cold hands. Yup, that was me, the pain is real.
  • "There is a lot to hear" is something Neeve says to Blue, referring to spirits. Its such a fantastic, ominous and intriguing line to be said in that first scene. Especially as Blue is only on the edge of magic. Much like a teenager on the precipice of adulthood, this world isn't fully accessible to her yet, and its deeply vexing. She's surrounded by magic but remains outside of it. Neeve's words are a reminder of that, but of course Blue then sees a spirit for the first time and everything starts to change.

Pitch Manor Madness (aka WIP Wednesday)

Hi! How are you? It's been a minute, hasn't it. I want to enthusiastically thank @blackberrysummerblog, @leithillustration, @rimeswithpurple, @that-disabled-princess, @youarenevertooold, @fiend-for-culture, @whatevertheweather, @j-trow-95, @roomwithanopenfire, and everyone who has remembered I exist and continues to tag me on these wipsday things. I don't always get to read, and sometimes i read but can't comment, but I love having them there for when I need a fandom boost!

I have been working on several things lately, pretty much daily, so Snowbaz is never really that far from my mind, even if I'm not super active on Tumblr with it all. Today I'm highlighting my ongoing love affair project with Pitch Manor. Yup. It's never over, y’all.

i think there’s actually nothing better than being randomly told “I love you” after doing something characteristically stupid. Like what do you mean I’m a lovable person and I just did something silly and you thought “of course you would do that. I love you.”. No better feeling
