It's not much of anything but I've been reading a bunch of steddie mafia omegaverse and other variations on Eddie saves Steve from A Circumstance stories (specifically Stay With You by MysteriousMidnight) and they always have Steve is a more submissive role after being subjected to The Horrors (which I eat up with a spoon).

But for whatever reason, I have a very specific scene in my mind of big, strong omega Steve running barefoot down the street after giving his caprots the slip and running right into alpha Eddie who is either very rich or in some kind of position of power. Eddie is like, hey let me help you I'll distract these guys chasing you and then I can help you out.

He gets the guys going in the wrong direction and then goes to find Steve, who ducked down an alley. His feet are all cut up and he's not properly dressed so Eddie offers to carry him back to his place. Steve is visibly suspicious but he doesn't have any other options so he lets Eddie wrap his jacket around him for modesty and to keep him hidden to carry him home. Eddie struggles with his weight but he Will Not admit that or tap out.

Eddie falls in love almost instantly. There really isn't any reason for him to because Steve always smells pissed off and threatens him and never shows any kind of interest in Eddie for the first handful of months. The omega is beautiful and Eddie can see that, but he is really just enamored with Steve for the everything else about him.

Eventually, after many months, Steve starts to calm down and register that he's in a safe environment. It's still a long road of healing and figuring out the legalities of him escaping his situation, but he does fall in love with Eddie later down the line. He's always wary and a little feral, but he does come to embrace some of the omegan habits he wasn't allowed to have in his old life and become a happier person.

Idk I just think that while Steve is SUCH a loverboy he's also a fighter and after a traumatic period of time without access to his pack, he would become even more self-reliant and aggressive.

Also, didn't know how to fit this in there, but Steve builds a bracket-shaped nest [ with a pillow wall at his back and curving around his head and feet. It's the shape omegas are more likely to build their nests in when they feel unsafe because it protects their back but allows for quick escape is something happens. The first time he sees it, Eddie cries. Steve never changes his nest shape but he does let Eddie be his other braket [ ] because he loves and trusts his alpha after they become mates.

eddie is walking toward the small parking lot, scanning for any sign that they're still there. then he hears the alpha's voice, and he doesn't like it. the deep rumble of an angry alpha sets eddie's skin on edge as he rounds the corner and finds them standing by an expensive car. steve is leaning against the side, eyes downcast, while the alpha berates him for whatever he thinks steve did wrong. he's got a tight grip on steve's wrist.

eddie tries to step in and make sure everything is okay, but he immediately gets brushed off and told to mind his business. of course, eddie still doesn't like the looks of this situation, and he's got resources. he gets in his car and immediately puts two of his guys on tailing. he tells them to call him the second steve is alone. and that's exactly what they do.

when eddie tries to talk to steve, to make sure he's really okay, steve lies. he says everything is fine, because it's what he has to say. he can't risk anything getting back to the alpha, and he doesn't know this man. obviously, eddie knows it's a lie. he can hear it in steve's voice, see it in his face and body language. so eddie does what eddie does best.

it's unexpected. it's sudden. to anyone who doesn't know eddie's m.o., it looks like a freak accident.

one minute, steve's husband is there, arguing over the fact that steve asked to paint the pup's nursery, and the next, he's gone forever.

Slick sunday brain 🧠 this is set in tht new years birth AU I sent a few slick sunday thoughts abt awhile ago, this little drabble is during the early days when they just had 1 bby to love

Thinking abt steddies first pup saying her first word.

She's early to babble in a way tht is starting to resemble words but nothing is clear enough to count as her "first word", Robin & Steve tease Eddie tht she gets it from him. Eddie tries to argue tht Wayne is quiet but Steve refutes this by bringing up tht Wayne might not talk as fast or as loud but tht man can sit & spin one tale of gossip after the other till either the sun goes down or he runs out of gossip.

One saturday the (currently) small family of 3 were going abt their morning. Eddie had gotten the pup changed into a clean diaper & comfy clothes while Steve started cooking breakfast for them all.

Their baby is placed in her high chair & is immediately babbling while steddie respond like the pup is fully conversing.

When Steve sits next to his puppy & starts feeding her he's doing all his usual vocal prompts of "say ah" & "say mama" & "say dada" & the pup simply giggles & chews & watches her parents w big eyes tht hold Steve's hazel color

some worldbuilding thoughts for next slick sunday, im sure there's been posts and fics that cover this, but while writing my fic started to think about mating and pregnancy so i have an excuse for why steddie arent preoccupied by a potential pregnancy... i know most fics follow the path of conception occurs mostly during heats, esp for male omegas...which is a very interesting biological evolution. still needed a stronger defense for my fic tho, so i thought why not make it more complicated for male omegas to naturally conceive? so while not impossible for male omegas to get pregnant, it's just very rare without medical assistance and most just assume male omegas cant get pregnant accidentally. but i feel like the process wouldn't be as intense as ivf, more akin to birth control pills, im not very knowledgeable about hormones and biology so the idea is essentially hormone pills that will increase/intensify your fertility rates/ovulation period giving a male omega a better chance at conceiving. absolutely none of this will end up in the fic, and despite all this world building i am 100percent convinced that steve and eddie would be the outliers and still get pregnant by accident on the first try without any hormonal treatment...
