If you want something done, ask a woman

@lisystrata

Recently, I have been looking at events with the stunned look of an awakened Cesare the somnambulist. She/her, 18+, great procrastinator, mythomaniac, heretic. Posts a lot of Conrad Veidt, the band Ghost and Tobias Forge, David Bowie, Severus Snape (Harry Potter fandom), etc. I immediately, without warning, block all bloggers who post anti-semitic messages or comments.

Lysistrata is an ancient Greek comedy by Aristophanes, originally performed in classical Athens in 411 BC. It is a comic account of a woman's extraordinary mission to end the Peloponnesian War between Greek city states by denying all the men of the land any sex.

In 1989, the famous actor and poet Leonid Alekseyevich Filatov wrote his poetic version of "Lysistrata". Unfortunately, it is less known than the satirical tale "About Fedot the Archer", written and performed by Filatov from the stage, but nevertheless, the problems raised in the plot of "Lysistrata" are no less (or even more!) topical. Alas, I did not find the English version of the poem "Lysistrata", but if you have the opportunity to read the original source through an electronic translator, then I highly recommend that you do this.

Do you like him & think he's cool? I do

no. this fucker traumatized me when I was a kid. I have a distinct memory of being so afraid of him, I turned the tv off. and then my mom turned the tv on again for some reason. for a long time, I wasn't sure if this was an actual character, or if it was merely a half-formed concoction from the bowels of my guilty subconscious, lurking just beneath the dark mental pit where nightmares are formed. he ate their fucking tubby custard

okay can we talk about how horrible snape is towards lupin??? he literally makes remus's class write an essay on how to kill a werewolf!! and remus then has to read and mark them!! wtf?!?!!? borderline inhumane behaviour.

okay, can we talk about how horribly Lupin treats Snape??? He literally encouraged the class to laugh at their teacher, undermining his authority. Imagine Snape in his grandmotherโ€™s dressโ€”how mature!! And then Snape still had to brew a complex potion for him!! wtf?!?!!? This is borderline complete disrespect.

What seems worse to me is how he gaslights him throughout the entire damn series. Lupin is worse than Sirius because Sirius is upfront about it. Sirius canโ€™t stand Severus, and he doesnโ€™t hide it or pretend otherwiseโ€”he doesnโ€™t try to be nice or fake a sympathy he doesnโ€™t feel. Lupin, on the other hand, treats Severus as if they were old friends or close schoolmates, fully aware of everything that happened between them and what his friends did. Heโ€™s condescending and paternalistic towards him, and then he makes him relive all the trauma of public humiliation through the boggart lesson.

Honestly, if I were Severus, Iโ€™d have outed him as a werewolf much earlier. Iโ€™d take someone like Sirius any day, who at least doesnโ€™t pretend to be a good person, over someone like Lupin. Guys like Lupin are the worst because they act like โ€œnice guysโ€ but are actually manipulative gaslighters to the core.

I fear that Snape had far more serious problems to solve than the cruel joke of his former classmate. So he mechanically does what he is forced to do due to Dumbledore's orders, but in reality he is striving for his main goal - to defeat Voldemort and his supporters.

None of this is derogatory btw I actually love this dynamic for us. Keep up the good work everybody ๐Ÿ‘

I've long since grown tired of pandering to entropy, I've run out of all the logical and even all the illogical versions of possible explanations for this plot. So I just watch the madness unfolding indifferently. Come what may.

Conrad Veidt as Jaffar in The Thief of Bagdad (1940)

It's funny that Jafar is described as old in this film. I want to remind you that Conrad Veidt is only 47 years old here. How is he old compared to today's world leaders, old farts in their 70+, 80+s who do incredibly horrible things?
