[The talon stiffened at the familiar voice biting down on its cheek.]
..hm?
The Tudda!!!
[ Kori holds out a tiny glass elephant charm on a cord necklace she had taken from the arts and crafts box at the Center of Families. She grinned at him before frowning. ]
Friend Talon is something wrong?
[Talon stared at the glass elephant quietly before registering what she had said. It gave a tiny head shake in response.]
“No. Nothing wrong. Pretty elephant.”
[It mumbled nodding to the glass elephant on the chain.]
[ Kori hummed, clearly not convinced but not pushing. She put the necklace on him, the little glass elephant resting in the middle of his chest. ]
It is more pretty on you. Do you like the necklace of the glass elephant? I have been learning to make the animals of glass smaller! Easier for Friends to carry.
[It held the elephant in its palm staring silently at it. The talon ran its finger tips over the glass elephant]
“Very pretty..I..thank you.”
[It stared at the elephant blinking slowly as its eyes burned. It glanced up at the other, stepping forward before hesitantly bumping its head against her shoulder affectionately.]
[ Kori laughed before bumping her head against his shoulder. She smiled brightly at him. ]
I have been trying to learn how to get your wings working to fly, I was told that practice will help! If you would like we can fly again?
[He hesitated for a small moment. He’d kept up with his tasks, and he’d behaved hadn’t he? It wouldn’t hurt..he turned to her and nodded quickly in response.]
“Yes please..but have to do away from. Can go somewhere else?”
Okay! Okay! Okay!!!!
[ She took his hand and grinned at him closing brightly. ]
We need to hide? We could fly at the edges of the Gotham City!! Or! Or! We can fly above the clouds. The clouds are too dark and thick to be seen through from below and I will make sure to not glow!
[He glanced at their hands a tiny smile forming as he carefully squeezed her hand back. It made him feel a little silly and giggly.]
“Clouds? Above clouds.”
[Talon said carefully looking up at the sky in curiosity and awe.] “Like a bird.”
[Kori picked up friend Talon and shot them both up into the sky without much warning. She only tucked her friend into her a little before blasting off like a rocket. They could readjust above the clouds just as long as they were not seen! That was the important part right? As he stopped right on top of the clouds as if was standing on them. ]

“𝖮𝗁 𝗒𝗈𝗎’𝗋𝖾 𝗌𝗈 𝗍𝗂𝗇𝗒- 𝗈𝗁 𝗆𝗒 𝗀𝗈𝗈𝖽𝗇𝖾𝗌𝗌, 𝗒𝗈𝗎’𝗋𝖾 𝗃𝗎𝗌𝗍 𝖺 𝖻𝖺𝖻𝗒-“ He could not stop the coo that rose as he saw a little baby version of Kori. She was adorable.
[Kori pulls a whole ass traffic light from her back of goodies. ]
Gift of friendship!
“𝖶𝗈𝖺𝗁- 𝗐𝗁𝖾𝗋𝖾 𝖽𝗂𝖽 𝗒𝗈𝗎 𝗀𝖾𝗍 𝖺 𝗐𝗁𝗈𝗅𝖾 𝗍𝗋𝖺𝖿𝖿𝗂𝖼 𝗅𝗂𝗀𝗁𝗍?!?” He let out a shocked and slightly flabbergasted laugh. He had no idea how the hell he would fit a traffic light in his apartment.
It fell!
[ the traffic light did not just fall. Kori had been flying around and ran into it full force knocking both it and her down. There is an indent of her head on the back of the traffic light. She giggled brightly. ]
🤲
[ Kori leaned into the hands before cupping Friend Talon's face as well. She was as always warm but more glowy now that Friend Talon was here. She couldn't help it, she had missed her friend. ]
Friend Talon! Have you been doing well?
[He smiled still cupping her face as he also leaned into her hands with a happy chirp and purr. He gave a small nod to her question.]
Better..got zitka.
Zitka?
[ she asked softly as she gently patted his cheek. ]
Well I am happy you have gotten better, Friend Talon!
Elephant. Fluffy though. Elephant not fluffy. But Zitka is.
[He explained patting her cheeks back in return before hugging her.]
Like a pet? I did not know you could have a pet elephant!
[ Kori giggled at the taps before she hugged him back tightly and warm. She loved hugs ]
Mm. Kinda. Stuffed? Not real. Real one still Haley’s.
[He explained relaxing into the hug still just hugging her tightly, purring softly.]
[ Kori had to keep herself from squealing when Friend Talon purred. Her friend purred!! Like a Zarnic!! Instead she just glowed a little brighter and got much warmer. ]
I am happy you have received your elephant of stuffing!
🤲

[ Kori was wandering. She was floating around what her other friends called the fancy part of Gotham City. She loved it here! There was so much grass and so many trees, which meant tons of bugs!!! Kori had learned the hard way, though, that she had to tone down her glow while she was here. The fancy people didn’t like her floating around their neighborhood. One time, someone thought she was a ghost and screamed, which made her scream, and then she zoomed away super fast. After that, there was a rumor about a glowing, screaming ghost kid haunting the city... So embarrassing... So now, Kori had to be sneaky. Super sneaky! And she was doing a great job! She had not been caught once! She had been extra careful to keep herself from glowing brightly and startling the fancy people again. She even found a super cool moth on the side of a really really big building. She was holding it gently when a scream scared both her and the moth. She glowed an instinctual bright warning before she could stop herself. ...and the moth flew away... ]
[ But now Kori was curious. There was a new, more interesting mystery than a very, very pretty moth! Where did that scream come from? She floated toward the sound, looking around. She circled the building 7 times. Just when she was about to give up, she found her friend Talon all curled up in a ball, crying next to a puddle of yucky vomit. Kori frowned. Was he the one who screamed? She floated over quietly and plopped down next to him, sitting cross-apple sauce. She tilted her head, watching him for a moment before whispering]
Friend Talon? Are you... okay? What happened?
[The talon had stayed curled up in the grass, trembling. Everytime he closed his eyes he kept seeing all the faces. He couldn’t breath, the world seemed completely white around him his ears ringing. He heaved breaths between an occasional retch as his stomach protested the panic and memory again. He felt as warm as he did freezing cold. When the voice spoke slightly muffled he pressed his face into the mud and grass taking the smell and cold feeling for what it was. It was the only thing that didn’t feel like the night terror. He wrapped his arms tighter around himself, black staining tears streaming down his face like small waterfalls. Seemingly frozen in place, gasping and gagging.]
Friend Talon?
[ Kori reached out with her little hand, pat-pat-patting her friend's back gently and rhythmically like a drum. She did not even try to hide her glow as her hand and hair became warm, like a friendly Flarnop. She knew her friend loved warm things. She hoped being warm helped. Back at the L-place she used to be (the one she didn’t like to talk about), she’d seen other people get all scrunchy and quiet like this too. They’d curl up like the rolly-polly bugs of Earth, and she didn’t really know why. Now her friend was doing the same thing, all scared and tiny, like the Zarnic hiding from a big, scary Glorg. Kori did not like it. She wanted to help, but she did not know how. So she just kept patting and warming, hoping her friend would feel better, like when you put the band of Aid on an injury. She spoke softly.]
What happened, will not happen again. I am with you now, I will help my friend.
[The child’s shoulders shook slightly as the barrier broke. Sobbing left him leaning into the warm hand on his back. It was grounding and broke him out of his slight panic. He actually registered the world around him. He sucked in quick fast breaths as he cried, shifting away from the puddle next to him curling into her hesitantly. He still kept his arms wrapped tightly around himself, pressing his face into the ground again to have the fresh smell. It didn’t smell like the rancid stench his dream had. His breathing still was ragged but his sobs had slowly begun to fade out, curled close.]
[ Kori did not move him. She did not think he would like that very much right now. So instead, she kept doing her little tap-tap-tap on his back, like a tiny drumbeat, and with her other hand, she gently brushed through Friend Talon’s hair. Just like how she liked it when her hair was played with—it made everything feel softer and safer, like being wrapped in a big, fluffy cloud. She hoped it would make him feel the same way She wanted it to do the same for him. ]
[ Kori’s eyes lit up like sparkles—she had an idea! Maybe the problem was here, in this spot. Maybe if they went somewhere else, away from this place, it would help? Friend Talon may feel better? And then… then she could take Friend Talon flying! She knew Friend Dickie loved flying—it made him all smiley and bouncy, and giggly. So she assumed Friend Talon would like it too. Flying always made her feel better, everything felt better when everything else felt small. It was the best feeling ever! Maybe it would help Friend Talon feel all light and happy too. ]
Friend Talon, maybe we should leave here? When you are feeling okay, and if you would like, I can take you flying? Flying makes me feel better.
[The fingers in his hair were nearly hypnotizing. His breathing slowly calmed from before and he let his eyes slip shut for just a small moment. He hadn’t seen her perk up, but he didn’t mind when she talked again. It didn’t scare him like the night terror did. He stretched out slightly glancing up at her his eyes a little swollen. The yellow had receded slightly and his eyes almost looked like extremely dilated pupils. He wasn’t as on edge.]
[He listened to her as she spoke, contemplating her idea. He didn’t know if the others would like him leaving but..he didn’t really care. He was still too fried from the nightmare. He scrubbed his face to get rid of the tears before giving a tiny nod. Flying sounded fun. Not scary. He wanted to go with her.]
[ Kori’s face lit up with a big, goofy grin. She pulled Friend Talon closer to her and scooped him up like he was a feather pillow—because to her, he basically was! Kori had figured out that Tamaranians were very strong compared to the people of Earth. She had figured such out when she had pulled a mirror off a car easy-peasy in front of friends. She giggled, as she floated just a tiny bit off the ground, holding her friend in a one-person lift. She was sooooo excited to fly with Friend Talon! It would have been fun if he could fly next to her, zooming around like two little birds, but she did not think he could do that on his own. And that was okay! Kori did not mind carrying him one bit. It just meant she got to play the knight instead of the princess, and that made her feel all warm and fuzzy inside. ]
Are you ready?
She asked, her voice all bubbly and excited.
[He grunted when he was lifted but he didn’t freak out he just stayed still and looked around. His eyes widened a little bit when she started floating, head darting around quickly to see how she was doing that. His arms moved to quickly hold on so he didn’t fall. The talon paused before nodding quickly to say that he was. Still trying to see how she was floating, looking for some sort of string or something.]
[He eventually gave up looking not finding really anything, slowly letting his head plop down to lay against her shoulder as they went off.]
[Kori laughed a little as her friend looked around.]
Have you not seen me fly yet Friend Talon?
[ Kori could not remember if Friend Talon had seen her fly or not. Oops! She had been trying to hide her glowing hair and star trails that she hadn’t paid attention to. But now she does not care anymore—her hair lit up like a sparkly flame as she flew upwards. She went slow this time, nice and easy, so her friend could get used to being up so high. Flying fast was very fun, but slow flying was like floating on a fluffy cloud was calm and peaceful. She did not have a plan or a place to go. She just flew, hovering over the land, the trees, and then the city, like a bird exploring the world. The lights below twinkled like tiny stars, and Kori smiled, feeling happy just to be up in the sky with her friend. ]
What do you think, Friend Talon?
