dear diary,

i think louis has a crush on me. he gazes at me and his eyes sparkle. he calls me pet names and we kiss sometimes. i confronted him about it and he told me we’re married. i’m okay with that.

the other day he put a lamp in the washing machine. it’s unrelated but i thought it was worth mentioning. he also told me that cows have best friends and get distressed when they’re separated and i cried for hours.

I signed up for the Femslash big bang to write my first original work (!!!) and that's what I've been trying to work on lately. My problem? I am struggling to choose an idea that won't end up turning into a 50 or 60k (or more) fic. I need something that maxes out at 20k or so, and everything I'm working with feels much bigger. But I had to start somewhere/sometime, so I went with a story I already told myself before bed a while back.

The summary is that Character A is a writer doing a residency in a secluded cabin in the woods, and Character B is the dyad/tree spirit who inhabits the woods. B's tree home is destroyed in a lightning storm, and A takes her in.

Is this the fic I'll write? I HAVE NO IDEA. But here's the first paragraph that I just wrote a bit ago:

Even three months into what Willa called her year of solitude, she still hadn’t quite gotten used to the silence. Upon arriving, it was the thing that had shocked her most-- just how different the quiet of the woods was from the city and suburban quiet she was familiar with. It wasn’t even quite the same as the kind of silence she’d found in campgrounds during the off season with just one or two other campers around. Inevitably there were small, human sounds even there: a snore, a laugh, a sigh that carried on the wind.
