Our New Blog

So our old blog has been glitching out a lot recently. And now we're finally making a new one (since it's been months with no response from staff).

We are the Olivia Set!

About the Set

We're a set of around 5 regular fronters. We consider ourselves a mix of SoulBond and natural multiplicity. Fucked up shit gave us DID. Probably the autism and shitty authority figures in our life. ADHD too I guess. We don't have intra-idenity amnesia, but apparently generally shit memory is enough to change our OSDD-1 dx to a DID one (after 2 years with this therapist, so that's subtle). Never binary (though we do have someone who's cis-trinary). Ace lesbians (with a number of in sys relationships so go figure). Cunts what has a interest in philosophy so special it brought our GPA up to passing levels.

We are very pro plural and inclusive (to spell it out, that means we are inclusive of all plural system origins, disorder status, or structure). Some of our frontrunners have plurality as a special interest, so expect syscourse here. That philosophy thing have us enough to know that causes aren't as simple a thing as syscourse would have you believe. So please don't come here with notions that systems are only ever caused by one thing.

We have a Mastodon account here (@livseses@gaygeek.social) in case Tumblr goes under.

Do Not Interact (DNI)

If you would need to violate your own DNI to interact with us. Seriously, don't abuse your DNI to shield yourself and then go out and interact with others that you specifically request to avoid. It a) has a negative impact on the use of a DNI similar to how "triggered" got watered the hell down; and b) it's really unhealthy to go out of your way to interact with those that cause you distress.

We will probably yell at you and block you if you violate your own DNI to talk to us.

Boundaries

In addition to anyone and anything that just happens to be bad for our current mental health, we will block for the following things (also probably chew you out):

  • Misgendering (mistakes happen we know)
  • Insulting people's intelligence or general mental capabilities (which is ableist as fuck)
  • Calling us parts or alters (the term we use is headmates)
  • Assigning any of us alter roles
  • Fakeclaiming

Otherwise, we block on a case by case basis. Seriously it's so easy to hit that block button.

Check our carrd if you want to know our members, what our name means, or some basic ettiquette for us.

question 103: if you could go back and talk to yourself/ves during or before your system discovery, or discovery of the plural community, what would you say?

"Yo bitch, look into soulbonding. Also, transition now not when 'your mental health gets better' cause that ain't happening."

We had a lot of experiences that we found weird and cool but didn't have words for at the time. We absolutely wouldn't have believed we had DID if that was put in our ear back then. Hell I don't think any other form of plurality would have been believable back then. We had already dismissed it cause our system doesn't look like how it's portrayed in media.

But we would have absolutely latched onto Soulbonding. We knew things about the setting that felt very different from inventing things about it. The characters acted in ways that surprised or confused us, which made sense after we learned more things. We were really good at roleplaying characters cause we could just "shit our brain off and let them talk".

Had we tried to just talk to them I'm pretty sure the floodgates would have opened and we would have had our syscovery over a decade earlier.

(Also if we're getting messages to our past selves we're totally going to try and skip those years detransitioning)

one reason we have seen of people being against willomancy, are comparisons to disability. "it's like choosing to be autistic"

regardless of what you believe, willomancers generally believe that plurality in of itself is not inherently a disability.

a complex dissociative disorder, yes. plurality can also be disabling for some.

however, although something like DID can cause plurality, it is a general belief among willomancers that the two are not one in the same.

so it's confusing to me when people say it's like making the choice to be disabled, because it's a fundamental misunderstanding of what the people they're talking about believe.

making the choice to be plural or to create a new headmate in general, is not the same thing to a willomancer, as somehow trying to get DID/OSDD/ect.

u dont have to answer this publicly but i lowk thought you posted stuff that made people angry on purpose so theyd engage with your posts that then more people would see, thus spreading ur ideology further. like strategic ragebait

Lol!

Sometimes... I wouldn't say completely rage bait, per se. But I certainly don't think that I should censor myself. Generally, what you get on this blog is basically my actual opinion. I might present sometimes in an aggressive or condescending way to get a reaction and get more engagement. I might pull stunts here and there to get people talking. But I'm not lying or being someone I'm not.

Some people like to try to play moderate so that they can change the minds of the other side. But I think this can be a dangerous trap to fall into. If everyone tries to be moderate, then it's easier for the enemy to paint the moderates as extremists. And then the moderates have to move closer to the enemy to appease them so that they can still be moderate.

Let's talk about X-Men for a moment.

Personally, I think that if Magneto didn't exist, then it would be easier for the non-mutants to paint the X-Men as the villains. That might sound weird because Magneto also has the effect of causing a lot of hate towards mutants. But the thing about hate is that it's not necessarily rational anyway. I mean, in real life, you can point to some instances of hate being driven by actual bad people on that side. Islamophobia massively increased after 9/11, for instance...

But there was no reason for the satanic panic. There is no reason for homophobia or transphobia. These groups haven't committed any crimes against humanity. They are hated just for existing and being different.

Magneto doesn't cause mutants to be hated. Mutants were already hated and that's what drove Magneto to his extreme position.

I believe that we should love and accept everyone for who they are. I believe that should be the reasonable moderate position.

But for that to be the moderate position... You need an extreme on the other side.

You need that Magneto who can make the X-Men appear as the compromise.

You need radicals and extremists if you want to be able to shift the overton window on an issue.

Look at Obamacare! This was a middle-of-the-road compromise solution to our healthcare crisis. It was basically a Republican policy, being a repackaged version of Mitt Romney's healthcare plan! But the right-wing propagandists managed to make it out to be some extreme leftist socialist policy somehow!

If there's one thing that looking at politics has taught us, it's that every time you move towards the enemy to appease them, they move to more extreme positions so they can paint you as being radical in your compromise. Then you have to move closer to them to try to appease them again. Appeasement of hate is an endless cycle that drags you ever closer to self-defeat.

Back to syscourse, when I made this blog, I tried playing the moderate. But I was seen as an extremist anyways. So I just decided to play into that. 🤷‍♀️

I used to avoid using the word "sysmed" because I didn't want to offend the bigots. I used to not call sysmeds a hate group or call them bigots for the same reason.

What I realized about my past tactics is...

I was wrong!

I was wrong to play their game. I was wrong to try to appease them or self-censor. I was wrong to not call hate for what it is. I was wrong to avoid offending them.

Because when I tried to be more moderate in syscourse, they still painted me as an extremist. Which meant that they were able to paint my moderate positions as extremism.

In contrast, the more extreme my rhetoric is against sysmeds, the more moderate the less extreme pro-endos will look. The more moderate it appears to be pro-endo, as long as you "aren't like Sophie."

I'm done playing the game of bigots. I'm done playing by rules being set by people who hate me for my existence. I'm playing my own game now, and setting my own rules. 😁

btw I do think that nonhumans with many types should probably research plurality, because I swear sometimes its just like God. you guys know that your types talking to you internally is more often than not a plural thing right. you know maybe there's a reason you have 98 flickering types that keep fading in and out quickly. you know that plurality is alterhumanity.

seriously I am not kidding about this. I cannot count the amount of times I've seen fictionkins posting about how they shift into their types and then don't really remember what happens during shifts and also that they speak with their types. baby I don't think fictotypes can talk to you I think you should look up 'fictive heavy system' on Tumblr

ok I think I dropped a bomb on everyone with this so just to clarify: this post is about specifically nonhumans who did not even consider that plurality is a valid alterhuman identity that they can identify as if they want to, and not just for the Real Scary Systems.

this post is not about nonhumans that did do the research but want to use different terminology or feel like different terms fit better. that is valid.

we are not trying to police identity, we are trying to normalize plurality as an identity. we were intentionally short with this post for that reason, because we are just kind of tired of pandering to the notion of plurality being the big scary alterhuman identity, but maybe we weren't clear with that so that's mostly on us

and we have gotten messages from people with sentient types, links and flickers that talk to them but don't want to be labelled as plural, which is an experience none of us even knew existed until now, and that is so cool! so remember that while you can always identify as plural if it fits, if it doesn't fit....you never have to.

I think one of the worst aspects of being plural is when you're put in a situation where you have to put aside another headmasters dreams.

For example it's difficult to pursue a career in criminology, to be a voice actor, a musician, a soldier and travel the world all at the same time to make everyone in the system happy.

Of course choosing an education, career and life style can be difficult for everyone but there's something so heartbreaking when you're aware that you have to put someone else's goals above others.

(I hope I was able to word that correctly)

Writing a system’s singletsona name in a Death Note but it doesn’t work and I realize I have to write down every individual headmate’s name to kill them off one by one because Death Notes are plural affirming like that

Anonymous asked:

Not plural myself but Im kinda curious about something: for systems that share memories, is it possible to play games with one another? 🤔 I have chess in my head right now but just about anything turn based would work I guess. I feel like head mates who share memories would also remember each others’ strategy, which Im curious if it would make the game boring or add layers to it somehow. (maybe you could put it up to a poll?)

We've played chess before. It's fun but weird.

You need to make the best move but if you plan too far ahead then the opponent knows all your plans.

You'd probably be better off with games with some random elements but no hidden information to make long-term strategies too difficult.

One game that worked pretty well for us is called Dice Forge.

There are strategic elements but the randomness of the dice throws a wrench into any ideas of planning too far ahead.

Co-op games are really ideal though.

A favorite of ours is Sentinels of the Multiverse:

This is a co-op game designed for 3-5 players to take on a single villain and is perfect for systems wanting a fun game to play with each other.

Stepping away from turn-based stuff, you should know that we've also used partial possession to play games like Fireboy and Watergirl with each player controlling a different hand.

There are actually a lot of different ways headmates can play games together! 😁

You know that game I mentioned here? Sentinels of the Multiverse? It's created by a company called Greater Than Games. We're saddened today that GTG is shutting down due to Trump's tariffs on China. Past versions of the game still exist and can be found ordered online for now for anyone who is interested in playing this great game, but there are unlikely to be reprints, and future expansions are effectively dead.

Conservatism is a disease, and American companies like these are dying because of it. This company is but one casualty.

I was looking for resources for children raised with parents with DID, since my mother is diagnosed with it and has been since she was 11.

I hated all of the links.

My trauma and unstable home life was not caused by my mother's DID and to blame her disorder is a cop out. asking for support for living with her alters, especially her Little alter who sometimes if felt I had to parent isn't demonizing, either.

DID is still very stigmatized that they blame the "chaos" strictly on it and it shows I am, again,an outlier.

Her DID and my own system is not "chaotic" nor did it contribute to why my childhood WAS chaotic and traumatic. Sure it wasn't EASY living with her and her alters but neither is really growing up with any parent with mental disorders.

Anti Endos DO NOT INTERACT.

Do you get it now? Without due process, everyone is at risk. How are you going to prove your citizenship otherwise?

People are so stupid about snakes. If there's a little black racer chilling outside just leave it alone, you don't have to kill it, it's probably dealing with all your pests for you, jesus christ

If you kill a non venomous snake that's just silly and cruel and betrays a disgusting worldview of blind hatred and fear of other beings,

and if you kill a venomous snake that's VERY STUPID because trying to kill a venomous snake is the best way to get bitten by a venomous snake.

the last coral snake fatality in florida that I could find was due to the person who died trying to kill it, as a note

specs stop throwing snakes

I WOULD HAVE PREFERRED NOT TO THROW HIM BUT I WAS IN A HURRY

Weirdest day of that copperhead's life

If you tell someone to "look at me when I'm talking to you", I instantly assume you're a bully toward autistic people, because you are.

Unless they're actively focused on something else, you can't accurately assume someone isn't listening just because of where they're looking.

It's not a sign of "disrespect" to not make eye contact. And if you were taught that it is, unlearn it.

Hi! Sorry I didn't respond to your message. I got overwhelmed and my mind popped like an overloaded fuse and I turned back into a confused and disoriented 6 year old version of myself.

Just a little reminder that being a soulbonder and somehow anti-endogenic at the same time is ridiculous. This is something we've encountered a few times now and it makes literally no sense.

If you join a soulbonding community and get mad that there's endogenic plurals there, maybe read what's on the tin before you open it. Not all soulbonders consider themselves plural (valid and real experience), and some might feel closer to the traumagenic label (also valid and real experience), sure, but... That's like reading a sign that says "dog park" and getting mad that there's dogs in there.

That's our space. If you're a soulbonder, you're experiencing something that many do describe as endogenic plurality. For a lot of em, it's even voluntary endogenic plurality. A type of being more than one entity in a body that doesn't originate from trauma. You don't have to describe it that way for yourself! But at least understand that you are a sibling to the endogenic plural community. You can't go around saying you can't be a system or more-than-one without trauma and that CDDs are the only way to be plural... and then be more-than-one without trauma yourself. Your community is included in the group you're claiming doesn't exist.

Addition: This also applies to tulpas and tulpamancers. Why are you anti endo? You're one of us. How are you gonna be anti endo but literally create someone to share your body with?
