a/n: This is my first time writing in a long time and I confess that I'm a little nervous, but constructive comments are always welcome! I really enjoyed writing this, and I have to admit that I'm looking forward to working on the next chapters. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Spotted:

Who’s the new face turning heads on Fifth Avenue? Rumor has it she’s not just new money — she’s new everything. New name, new game, and maybe… a few old secrets?

With a smile that could start a war and a closet that says she didn’t come to play, this mystery girl has landed in our perfectly polished world like a hand grenade wrapped in couture.

She’s not one of us.

Not yet.

But something tells me she won’t stay an outsider for long...

Keep your eyes wide, Upper East Siders. A storm’s coming—and she’s wearing Saint Laurent.

XOXO, Gossip Girl.

"For the thousandth time, Lando, I'm not going to betray my team just because you're a good kisser." She chuckled fondly, a playful smile on her lips as she shook her head slightly at the sight of the British McLaren driver fiddling with the Ferrari team merchandise she owned with a furrowed brow.

"I'm not just a good kisser, you know." He arched an eyebrow at her, the scowl fading for a moment to be replaced by a subtle, teasing smirk tugging at the corners of his lips. Typical.

"Still." She stated.

"I just think it's a joke that besides you supporting Ferrari, Charles apparently continues to be your favorite, I mean, that you have so many things with his logo and number in your room, even though it's with me that you return to the hotel after the race." And the frown came back with a vengeance.

"Well then I'll keep saying that you can try whatever you want, it won't happen. I'm loyal to my team and my driver." She mirrored his smirk from before, one that was somewhere between playful and provocative.

She knew she was teasing him too much now, but damn if it wasn't fun to play with his buttons.

"Oh, so things are really going to be like that now? Because you bet I'll change that by the end of the season, and I'll have a hell of a time doing it."

𝗍һᥱ gіrᥣ ᥣᥱ𝗍 ᥆ᥙ𝗍 ᥲ sіgһ, softly, but with a hint of sadness as she saw the scene before her that made her heart ache.

Oscar... she thought, leaning against the doorframe and unconsciously not even realizing that she had verbalized her thought in a soft whisper, not loud enough for him to hear, but no less full of concern and empathy.

the young australian driver laid on his side on the soft duvet, his face tired, his eyes swollen and with a subtle red tinge that remained as a bitter reminder of the feeling of crying for the feeling of guilt, of helplessness, for what could have been.

in his hands, a phone placed horizontally, transmitting the interview he had given to the press post-grand prix. his expressionless but meticulous eyes, analyzing his own image on the screen, every word, every gesture, every glance away, it was like a session of self-torture. a session that the girl could not watch nor would allow to continue.

she moved closer, joining him on the soft mattress, every surface component of which, from the sheets to the pillows, smelled so characteristically of him. it was the best smell in the world, in her opinion. masculine, undoubtedly, but not that almost suffocating woody scent, on the contrary, it was a fresh, comfortable, inviting aroma, like home.

"Osc, turn that off..." she asked, hugging him from behind, burying her face in Oscar's sweatshirt-covered back, throwing one of her legs over his, effectively trapping him there against her.

she then felt the rustle of the sheets, and for a moment, she felt his torso rising from the bed, which she assumed was due to him making a move to place his phone on the bedside table, making her rise with him given the position they were in, her clinging to him like a koala.

it wasn't long before, once Oscar's focus was no longer on his phone, he gently moved them around, causing her to end up sitting with her back against the headboard and him with his head resting on her lap, looking at her as she began to gently stroke his hair.

for a moment, they said nothing, sat in a comfortable silence, but one that held the weight of unspoken words hanging in the air until he decided he was ready to break it.

"Everything will be fine."

he summed it up, as if to say I know what you're thinking, but don't worry, everything will be okay in the end. I'll be okay.

"I know, I just don't like it when you're unfair to yourself, not everything is your fault, you know?"

he sighed. "I know, sweetheart, but you know how I am, sometimes it's easier to blame yourself for everything-"

"But you can't be so hard on yourself all the time, Oscar! Of course, there will be times when you will have your share of responsibility, but not everything is your fault, and not everything happens because you did something. Today was an unlucky day, we all can admit it, but please, don't beat yourself up over everything."

before he could disagree, she continued.

"It's horrible to see you like this, pretending that everything is fine, I know that at some point everything will indeed be fine, but you don't need to pretend, at least not for me."

he fell silent, but he didn't look away. instead, she saw his eyes soften as small pools of water began to form at his waterline. his almond-coloured brown irises were being buffeted by an impending storm. it would be poetic if it weren't so sad.

she wouldn't make him struggle to verbalize anything, ever. it wasn't that kind of relationship they had, the kind that demanded and demanded until the other's vocabulary was exhausted. on the contrary, they knew how to respect each other's silence and found comfort in it.

their communication went beyond any words and she knew that at that moment, he needed touch more than words and that was exactly what she provided, gently wrapping him in a familiar, safe hug that conveyed a greater welcome than any other beautiful words she could utter.

words were important, of course, but things with Oscar were just the way they were. words are just words that everyone knows how to say or forge, but actions are the realization of them, and not everyone wants or can do that. words are beautiful, but actions are the purest reflection of promises that are sometimes spoken without words. I, as your partner, promise you comfort and affection, but am I really willing to offer you that? Well, she was, and always would be, just as she knew that if it were the other way around, he would also be there for her.

she could feel a soft thank you being murmured against her neck along with the sensation of warm tears running down the inside of her shirt collar, but she didn't care.

there, in that embrace, Oscar knew he was protected from any negative or self-destructive thoughts, from the stress and responsibilities of everyday life, and for at least a minute, he allowed himself to delight in the embrace of the person who, in the midst of so much doubt about everything and himself, he never once doubted was the right one.

"𝖂ᥱ ᥣ᥆᥆k s᥆ ᥴᥙ𝗍ᥱ һᥱrᥱ, ძ᥆ᥒ'𝗍 ᥡ᥆ᥙ 𝗍һіᥒk?" she asked, a fond smile tugging at her lips as she pointed to one of the pictures of the two of them as children, the one where Oscar was kissing her cheek.

"I personally prefer this," he used the hand that wasn't around the girl's shoulders, cuddling her against his chest, to point to another frame on the other page of the album where she hugged him after one of his karting championships "my number one fan since then." he chuckled softly, leaning down to place a loving kiss on the top of her head, which made her giggle too, closing the album in her lap before turning to look into his eyes, almond brown meeting aqua blue.

"Since always, and forever, right?" she questioned, her eyes shining in adoration, as they had always done for as long as she could remember, from childhood to now, whenever she looked at him.

"I hope so, I don't think this title suits anyone but you."
