I don't really have a question for you (or rather, the timeline is tumultuous and I question just about everything) I did, however, want to drop into your inbox and send you good wishes. Hope all is well.

Thank you friend!

https://www.theinformation.com/articles/apple-streaming-losses-top-1-billion-year Seeing the news and considering that Apple has produced good shows like Severance and Silo, I am surprised by the amount of losses they have incurred. I understand that this platform does not have as much popularity worldwide as Netflix or Max, but the figures really surprised me. What do you think about this? So far, I've only seen that news, but I assume that Netflix, due to its popularity, is one of the platforms that doesn’t have as many losses. However, I think their budget for some productions is excessive, such as the recent movie starring Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt, The Electric State, which has a budget of $320 million and won't even be released in theaters. Considering the directors and that Millie Bobby Brown is a talent associated with Netflix, plus her last film was among the most-watched globally, I guess the budget is high, but $320 million?

Then there’s HBO, which has very good shows, both old and recent, that tend to receive positive reviews and acclaim. You’ve already talked about the consequences of streaming on the industry, but I wonder how it is that some platforms experience significant losses while others allocate higher budgets than many feature films. There are extremes in terms of money management.

The biggest difference is Netflix and HBO/Max have to succeed in entertainment because that's all they have, it's the only way they make money.   Netflix famously said that they wanted to become HBO before HBO became Netflix via Max.

Apple and Amazon are tech companies, not entertainment companies. What's $7 billion in annual costs for TV programming (and losing over $1 billion) at a company that generates more than $500 billion in sales?

There are 3 phases to the streaming business:

Phase One: Everyone decided to lose their minds and dump millions into shows that didn't have a chance in hell of being profitable.

They borrow money from Silicon Valley banks, getting into massive debts by making a whole bunch of shows that nobody watches in order in order to crowd out competitors.

The glut of tv shows drive up cost. I read that shows for Penny Dreadful: City of Angels and Perry Mason were filming at the same time, but there were only so many wardrobe houses with 1930’s period clothes.  So more had to be shipped in from other places, driving up the costs. That’s just one example of how all the massive amounts of shows being filmed for the different platforms were driving up the costs of making shows.

Phase Two: Profitability. This means less shows, and an introduction of advertising.   So you aren’t getting unlimited content for 10 bucks a month forever. The math never made sense.

Phase Three: Streaming Wars.  Production spending falls to below 2022 levels.

I've read your commentary on YANA and the whole debacle, but you failed to mention the god-awful merchandise they tried to sell.

What even is this? Who picked the creepy horror-show font and who decided that Jensen and Misha (mostly Misha) on a hoodie would work? LMAO!!!

It's also incredibly obvious that Jared was left out of the program on purpose, even though he (and Mark) were kind enough to throw them a bone and pose for that picture.

I'm just very grateful that cash-grab charity campaign was short-lived and that the AKF campaign is continuing to thrive, 10 years on.

Link Yeah the slasher horror vibe design was a really strange choice.

the font design of “you are NOT ALONE” looked like a scrawling of a murder victim's last desperate message warning us that the killer is in the house. Even the Halloween movie poster didn't have slasher fonts.

Then you have Misha looking like a stalker to Jensen who looked like he's resigned and won't fight off an axe murderer.

In contrast to this:

The “Always Keep Fighting” text is bold and clear while Jared’s stance is confident.  He’s not afraid. He’s not looking for a fight (hence the crossed arms and relaxed shoulders) but he stands his ground and will fight back if you're stupid enough to go at him.

Link. Cool that Jared commemorated the 10th anniversary. He fought hard for himself and his message.

The Boys has had four seasons already but Misha has never had an offer to be a part of it. It's not like he had anything else to do, after all. Now that we're in the final season and Kripke has finally managed to recruit Jared, here comes Misha too. Isn't that a little funny, though? It's certainly not a coincidence, why invite Miaha now along with Jared and not before?

Yeah it's noticeable that Jared was the only one whom Kripke was publicly promposing to while everybody else asked Kripke for a job.  Jensen was public about calling Kripke for a job.

After Jared, Jensen, and Jeffery, Misha is the 4th most known SPN cast member so it would look a little strange if Kripke doesn't invite Misha when he's been using the #SPNFamily for several years when promoting The Boys.  My guess is Misha will get the Rob Benedict treatment.

Okay what's with Jared haters trying to gaslight everybody into thinking Jared begged Kripke to be on TB? We literally saw Kripke talk about it before Walker was even cold in the ground. Or that he keeps constantly bringing it up just because he answered a fan's question about it at a con??? They're flipping nuts.

Because they hate that it was Jensen who publicly said he 'begged' Kripke for a job, even though Jensen was just networking like 99% of the actors does.

Because they hate that it was Kripke who publicly begged Jared to be on TB, even though Kripke knew Jared couldn't really say "no" for the sake of maintaining good will.

Because they hate that Jared had Walker before Supernatural ended, so they tried to gaslight that CBS offered Walker to Jensen first when that's not how the industry works.

Because the biggest reason is most Jared girls are indifferent about Jensen and that makes the Ackles Army stans gaslight even harder!

I know you said a few times that Misha was part of Robert Singer’s contingency plan if Jared left spn and Misha and Jensen will lead spn instead. Honestly, I would love to see that. I just know all of that would be a mess and only last one season. But the entertainment from hellers/cockles would great.

Behold, season 11...

What are your thoughts on fans who get close to people like Clif in order to get access to Jared or Jensen? There people have actually slept with their friends, and then there's a group of fans who have befriended or flirt with Clif, or Charlie, or Steve and pretend it's not transactional.

As long as everyone involved are consenting adults over the age of 25, then I hope everyone is having fun.

That said, you all know Cliffy is not a real bodyguard, right?

I honestly think Misha Collins and Jensen Ackles the Boys characters are going to have gay sex

I have never seen a group of fans collectively gaslight themselves like hellers do. SB was shown, very clearly, to be homophobic. And his preference is old ladies.

Once again they are going to keep telling themselves and each other this and then they are going to get mad at the show when it doesn't happen.

Since Supernatural ended nearly 5 years ago, the bitter Destiel shippers are stuck in a time loop of step 1 through 4 of grief (denial, anger, bargaining, depression).

Misha joining The Boys have them in the bargaining stage begging for pseudo Destiel sex scene so that they can finally skip to stage 5 acceptance stage and "win".

Except we know they're not going to win even though Kripke is not above creating a gay relations out of nowhere, he's not going to give them their sloppy seconds.

Do you think the AAs regret creating hellers? Like the hellers were good as foot soldiers to fight Jared and his fans, but now Jensen will never be free of them. I already see some AAs be annoyed that Jensen to being reduce to a ship. And who does the AAs think will help them if the hellers try to smear Jensen as a homophobia again? I can't say I feel sorry for them.

Yeah because of stuff like this..

Whenever I see an AA grow two braincells, they end up fighting and killing each other off.

Since Misha is going to be on The Boys, I was wondering if Eric Kripke got Misha because it was a favor or because he thinks the hellers/cockles/misha fans will get The Boys the attention that Eric wants? For me personally, I thinks it's more likely it was a favor. But I won't be surprised if Eric fell into the trap of thinking that because hellers/cockles/misha fans are loud on social media then they must be a large percent of the supernatural fanbase.

You're correct, it was a favor.  Kripke knows Misha does not bring the views or the ratings, his guest stint on Timeless proved that, as well as his decade-long stint on SPN where his status whiplashed between guest to regular to guest to regular to recurring.

Kripke learned his lesson from SPN's early days when he used to interact with online fans and was shocked shocked to learn that the loudest fans (AAs at the time) didn't bring the ratings nor the accolades he thought he was entitled to.  Kripke mainly turns to online fandom for validation circle jerk and admits to trade papers that he bothers him greatly to read The Boys online fans saying that he and his work "sucks". But he still engages with online fans because he still wants to be stroked off by them.

Part 1/2: Ngl, Misha does crack me up sometimes, especially with his pandering. Like I know he has to pander to the destiel crowd, it is what it is. But I always laugh when he has to pander to the cockles crowd. Mainly, when he tries to insinuate he's the "top/dom/alpha" in their relationship. And there's fans that believe him! Case in point, there's already hellers/cockles fans saying Jensen will turn Solider Boy into a submissive bottom because Misa is on set now.

Misha likes to fancy himself a top/dom/alpha because he grew up without a father so he's (as hellers like to say about Dean) overcompensating his masculinity, especially after being cucked by his (ex)wife with another woman. Remember kids, when a man is involved in a threesome, it's always with 2 women, never with another dude.  That scene in Mist of Avalon would never have happened, those who read the book or seen the tv mini series know what I'm talking about.

Sure I think Misha resents Jensen, though not for the same reasons you may think.

First, in general actors are not friends and the massive pay gap between Misha and the supporting actors and J2 is only natural, but it doesn't have to be nurtured.  Gratitude goes a long way to temper entitlements, jealousy, and resentments. The industry is tough and it never ceases to amaze me how many chronically unemployed supporting actors of long-running tv shows seem resentful and entitled even though they still make decent money from conventions during their long bouts of unemployment.  I've witnessed this with casts from Star Trek OG to Beverly Hills 90210.

Second, Jensen didn't want Misha near Jared because males in general don't like male interlopers into their circle, and also he didn't want them to become friends because it could lead to an off chance of more Sam & Castiel scenes, which will not only cut down on screentime for Dean, but also his screentime with Sam.  Every ambitious actor wants screentime with the lead actor to further their career, but Jensen played his part make sure there aren't many Sam & Castiel scenes.

Third, while Misha can't bash Jensen like he does with Jared because of the fake ship, it's worse for Jensen because he can't come out and deny the ship or else get the repeat of 2013 debacle.

Anonymous asked:

Hey, do you think Misha really believed he was the third lead and did he resent Jared/Jensen when reality smack him in the face? I know his fans called him the third lead of supernatural, but did it go to his head? I remember when he complained on twitter that he’s trailer wasn’t as big as Jared/Jensen. So that’s makes me think he did think he was the third lead.

Misha knew he was not the 3rd lead, that's just the reality in the hierarchy, and Hollywood loves heiratchy!  But Misha thought he would be promoted to 2nd lead when Jared leaves the show after Jensen gets promoted to 1st lead.

Reality smacked Misha in the head when during filming season 14 finale, they announced that that season 15 will be the final season and Jared was staying on to see it to the end.  Misha waited nearly a decade for Jared to leave in part because Robert Singer and the crew thought Jared's mental illness would cause him to exit the show early.  It nearly happened in season 10 and why the clusterfuck YANA was concocted.

So while Misha knew he wasn't the third lead, he thought he was more important than a mere supporting actor because he was told by Singer that he could save the show because Jared couldn't be counted on to stay with the merchandise gold mine show.  That may or may not be why Misha thought he deserved a trailer that's bigger than a double banger.

Anonymous asked:

What's up the hellers/cockles obsession with the jivorce? Clearly, Jared and Jensen made up, but not to the hellers/cockles it seems. I know they wanted Jared/Jensen to break up for real and have Misha replace Jared. But that's not going to happen. Why can't they see that? Why can't they get over the "jivorce" and move on like everyone else?

Because 15x20 broke them so much that they can't even afford accountability.

What is your opinion about this?

The comments are funny lol

I hope EK gives us lots of wincest references, just to make the hellers cry lol

At least the SuperWiki girl picked an appropriate picture of Sam to go with the tone of the meme.

Even though Kripke is not going to endanger the golden status of his most popular creations, he is a quasi Wincest shipper and it wouldn't surprise me if he release Jensen into his natural habitat.

Kripke with SPN fans is something like this: they’re going to watch the last season because they'll do it. He’s drawing in everyone, even those who only watched the show for the clips. Will he be queerbaiting? Lol, I find this so funny. SPN fans are happy, while TB fans seem a bit pissed off. I saw a post where someone complained that the show is no longer "The Boys" but now "The Bros", the show ends with the Winchesters, and there’s talk of nepotism. Other people worried about couples, speculating on possible deaths, and wondering if someone will blow up after the confession.

Beyond the laughs, how do you think the main cast feels about these additions? It’s pretty obvious that Kripke is using his old show and cast for promotional purposes.

This is my favorite quote tweet:

"how do you think the main cast feels about these additions?"

Stunt casting usually leads to “us vs. them” mentality, we see this all the time in theater.  Everybody, the cast and the public, is fully aware of the real reason behind the decision of casting celebrities, and it’s not about increasing quality but filling seats and making money. Meanwhile stage producers have to change everything from songs to dances to accommodate a celebrity whose only talent is acting.  The preferential treatment of celebrities and the marginalization of trained stage actors strains the relationships between actors in a show.  How can anybody not expect this?

(Are any of my readers old enough to remember when football stars were being stunt casted into musicals? Talk about the reverse triple threats.)

If cast members know that stunt casting will help save their show, then they’re 90% grateful and 10% bitter. But The Boys don’t need stunt casting, it’s already popular.

But Kripke is under pressure from Amazon to make TB (and its spinoffs) culturally relevant, hence bringing in SPN alumni to bring in SPN fans. Supernatural’s real time viewership was the fraction of The Boy’s real time viewership, but SPN’s fans gave the show relevancy early on that TB has yet to see for themselves.

Hello friend! I support Jensen Ackles cause I think he is very talented but I have a question. I often notice that people he works with (all the projects he has after SPN) have this huge devotion towards him. They compliment him In every occasion they get, it’s like they somehow worship him. Why do you think he has such a big impact in people? Recently, I saw a post dedicated to him from a photographer of Countdown. He’s been working there for a few months and this person posted a dedicated photo and caption saying “I cannot thank you enough”. This is so fascinating to me but also I wonder why and how is he perceived so “perfectly” by everyone. What are your thoughts in regards?

Link. For the same reason why SPN's lower-tier casts appeared to have "huge devotion" towards Jensen, because they believe he can get jobs for them in future projects. Having a production company helps with that assumption too.

Jensen had over 2 decades of experience in cultivating warm relationships with producers and casts, in part because he was in the sweet spot as #2 on the call sheet i.e. the good guy who is friends with everyone while having none of the burden of being the lead/#1 on the call sheet.

Old-time SPNs fans remember the slight difference in public attitudes of cast and crew towards Jensen compared to Jared. Back then the producers, cast, and crew saw Jared as an unreliable wild card ever since his first breakdown in season 3 and his subsequent attempt to leave the show before they were syndicated, thus endangering their jobs.  So, Jensen was seen as the stable and reliable one who is saving their jobs. Nobody except Jared wanted Supernatural to end, and the hundreds of jobs that went with it. Jensen attempting a SPN spinoff is seen as bringing jobs back to the SPN lower-tier cast. Rightly or wrongly, Jensen is seen as the guy who could get you jobs because he was the one who tried to keep the SPN train going.
