reckoning โ€“ a dissection

kcd2 has incredible quests from beginning to end, but reckoning has to be my favourite purely because of what it represents. it hasn't left my mind since i first played it, so I wanted to take a step back from my own feelings to share why I believe itโ€™s such a strong quest narratively and thematicallyโ€”as well as present defences for all three objectives and their outcomes rather than wave them off as bad writing or out of character behaviour.

hey, so remember me saying i'd make a unique die reward for completing blasius' quest in KCD2 (if he was there)?

well, here it is. since i designed blasius as a cartographer with a proclivity for playing dice, i thought it would only be appropriate for his quest reward item to be gambling themed.

i also made a custom die display panel for it! it's a die with potential, but only if you roll it rightโ€”much like blasius. the reasoning behind the blue and gold is quite obvious, with the theme of the night sky and stars as tools of his trade, with the face of the 1 pip being replaced by the north star to guide your luck hopefully better than his.

#this dialogue shouldn't evoke so much thought from me but it is . earn his nobility to be with a noble huh... you don't say...#staring at the people who think henry has internalized homophobia when his primary concern is if he can even be with a noble#i mean im not saying anything i just personally think its much more compelling that henry fears ruining rosa's/hans' reputation n all that#he's a very selfless person i don't think he thinks much of himself aside from what he can or cant do for others#kcd2#kcd2 spoilers#henry of skalitz#six speaks

anyone have a particular interest in which analysis i work on first? i currently have the most notes for sam but it'll take longer to put together, then there's istvan and brabant which will probably take less time... im also open to other ideas ofc
