the sheer theatricality of Ishan appearing on the First during the Amaurot “confrontation” (it’s a confrontation in canon but it doesn’t quite play out the same for Dayir) is unmatched but at the same time I’m realising I can’t be that cruel to Ishan

obviously Ishan made his own bed by freaking out and putting a bike lock on his soul so the Exarch couldn’t snatch it but I imagine as soon as he realises all of his closest companions (barring Estinien and maybe one or two others) are gone, he’d... probably way be more afraid of the loneliness and what that would do to him than of having his soul snatched

I don’t remember how long you’re on the First before you get to Amaurot but I feel like whatever length of time it is, is way too long for Ishan to be left alone

#the exarch probably pokes the source every once in a while to see if ishan's snatchable yet (because ofc he'd have wanted both of them)#maybe around the time dayir's found all the other scions and they're all planning their next move#maybe exarch discovers that ishan's started poking back#.ishan#ffxiv#insourced content#also once he sees that dayir's whole body disappears and not just eir soul like the others he's like ''oh wait''#it's still scary as shit to be traversing todash darkness but that changes things slightly

the dilemma I’ve glossed over about Dayir getting to the First without Ishan (at first) is that... well, ey still need a knight! who’s gonna fight for Dayir on the First???

there’s the obvious answer (Haurchefant lol) but as accomplished as he is he doesn’t have the Echo so I hesitate to throw him at everything including Lightwardens

I’m afraid that the solution really is “Dayir is going to have to learn some new tricks” because while that’s excellent character development fodder (and angst fodder, tbh) I am STUBBORN

aaaaaaaaaaaa I should be playingggg the gameeeee not suffering like this:

  • when she was still amnesiac Dayir was absolutely disarmed by the confused and distressed look she’d have sometimes and would instantly come to her rescue lmao so now she uses that face on em for everything. “you should get me that parasol. *sad puppy eyes*” Dayir: *throws wallet at vendor immediately*
  • Tsuyu turns out to have just the wickedest sense of humour and a very boisterous laugh. knee-slapping, the whole bit
  • Jessie thinks Tsuyu is so pretty that she immediately sets to making a wind-up Tsuyu doll. Tsuyu is instantly fkn obsessed with it (it’s VERY cute)
  • she’s absolutely vain as fuck. when she finds out Alphinaud can draw she won’t leave him alone until he draws her and then she puts the portrait on her own bedroom wall in a big frame lol
  • Gosetsu cries so loudly at Dayir and Tsuyu’s bonding ceremony that Hien jokingly threatens to kick him out lest he drown out the whole thing
  • (Gosetsu sticks around instead of going on pilgrimage. he is now everyone’s doting grandfather bc he really can’t help it. everyone is babey to him and he must protecc and dote upon and give grandfatherly wisdom)
  • (Hien makes affectionate fun of him at every opportunity)
  • (Gosetsu loves that too)
