omg, Bully is SUCH a good song in general, I love it to pieces. It often makes its way to several of my ship playlists, lmao. Their entire Deadbeat Graffiti album is also great for sniperspy, particularly from Sniper's POV. (Don't Ask Why and Speak of the Devil)
This is a little embarrassing but I have a sniperspy playlist I put on to get into the right mindset while I write. Not all the songs are, like, spot on. Vibes-based, mostly. (i am not immune to Mother Mother..) I will point out some key songs:
- I Can't Decide by Scissor Sisters - my ultimate crossfraction sniperspy song. it's a dead ringer for BOTH the silly and absurd feel of tf2 and general... violence.
- Choke by IDKHBTFM - crossfraction. It's got a good 70s guitar rock rift and while I don't usually fuss too much about being timepiece accurate when it comes to songs, this one is pretty good for being modern.
- Dear Enemy by Night Club - this one i stole off another sniperspy playlist by a friend LOL.
- Dark Times by The Weeknd and Ed Sheeran - hear me out. it's a duet....... it's got the lyrics light one up, let me bum a smoke / i got another man's blood on my clothes and this ain't the right time for you to fall in love with me. what more can i say. u_u
- What You Want Me to Do? by The Heavy - spy song
- my other sniperspy playlist is secret and sappy but i've wailed about bic runga's sway and something good too much to repeat myself.
Sinister Kid by The Black Keys, pretty much sums up how I characterize and write Scout*, but if you like Black Pistol Fire's dark gunsmoke vibes, then The Black Keys have a similar blues-y feel.
*scout-to-spy career pipeline so, in a way, i kinda feel like it's a younger spy song as well.
Thank you so much for the fun ask. I love blabbing about ship songs, LOL.
