Van Helsing CHP 14.5

Loki lead Helsing through the hidden passages that littered the castle. He knew that they didn’t have much time to reach Vision before he could be used to awaken his sinful siblings. Helsing needed to act and now if they were to win this fight.

Meanwhile, Steve and Falcon were trailing behind a very anxious Bruce who had caught Natasha’s scent and followed it. The closer he got the more Hulk pushed him to run. He needed the touch of his mate to help keep the beast at bay. Bruce never knew he could be in love, let alone with someone who he barely knew. But he couldn’t explain it…there was a shift within him from the moment he locked eyes with the Princess of death.

No one and nothing could compare to her, so he’d be damned if he lost her the way he lost his father and self.

“Slow down, not all of us have an enhanced wolf” Falcon hissed as he sped up 

Bruce merely looked at him over his shoulder in a silent response.

“There he is” Loki whispered as he pointed up to the storm where Vision was currently strapped down

The only way to reach the top without being seen was for Helsing to climb up the chain and sneak into the lab. Looking at Loki, he nodded his head in thanks before he jumped, catching the chain and beginning his ascend. Loki looked at him in pride and amazement. This man was meant to be broken, useless, and nothing yet he conquered despite it all. His mother risked everything to make sure her pup lived so that vengeance could be taken upon those that wronged them and Loki was happy he could witness this day. A small smile formed as he turned to walk back to secure that Maggie was following through with her part…but before he could someone pushed him knocking him unconscious….

 “Well go ahead grab it” the Cardinal told his counterparts

The trio held their faces in front of the jar trying to determine how they were to retrieve the syringe inside.

“You go ahead and grab it” Clint replied watching him from the corner of his eye

“If there’s one thing I’ve learned…it’s never to be the first to stick your hand in a viscous material“ Stark huffed out 

Before another remark was made, lightning flashed in the temporary cell….bringing with it an unwelcomed guest.

Hissing at them was Aleera, who had snuck in and was hanging above them all causing Stark to scream in fright.

“Did I scare you” she asked innocently as she jumped down

“No” Clint answered still shaken up

“Well then maybe I should try a little harder” she cackled as she flashed her fangs.

As she moved in on them, y/n grabbed the jar and hurled it towards the wall besides the bride. As it shattered, the substance inside was released, splashing all over Aleera and her face.

“GET IT GET IT” you screamed at the two men as they stood and watched Aleera scream out in pain

“Viscous material what did I tell you” Stark said as he dived for the syringe

“Yea yea you were right now c’mon lets get the hell outta here” Clint replied as he turned and made his way to the door, throwing some of the acidic substance on the gate to clear a path.

Aleera made her move as their backs were turned and grabbed the Princess, hurling the two men out the door.

“YOU CAN’T GO UNLESS I SAY YOU CAN GO” Aleera screeched into your face

“GO HELP THE OTHERS” You shouted to the two leaning forward away from her

Aleera pushed you back into the wall before she screamed again “AND I SAY YOU CAN GO WHEN YOU ARE DEAD”

Helsing had made his way to the lab undetected, but that was the easy part. Now he had to get to the top of the outside to the roof of the tower to Vision. He moved with caution taking out each minion that dared cross his path. Jumping up from ledge to ledge on the walls of the lab, Helsing soon made it outside and headed straight for the ‘man’ bolted down to the table.

“WHAT ARE YOU DOING” Vision cried out over the storm

“YOU MUST FIND THE CURE AND STOP DRACULA” He continued

“MY FAMILY IS HELPING ME” Helsing smirked as he tried to figure a way to release the creature safely

“Family…” Vision whispered

“Yea you want one? We’re kinda crazy and fight at times but damn are we loyal and fun to be around” Helsing smiled

“I can’t unscrew the bolts” Helsing huffed out as he tried to grasp the wet metal parts but to no avail.

Assessing the situation further he growled in frustration when he realized he had no other choice.

“This is gonna hurt” he whispered in warning

“I am accustomed to pain” Vision huffed readying himself for what was to come.

Helsing nodded before he ripped his arm loose from the bolts, making Vision let out a horrifying scream of pain. Helsing continued quickly, releasing his upper body before a bolt of lighting surged forward hitting Vision keeping him in place.

It passed through him and into the wires he was still attached to, and then to the undead seeds of the Count.

“GIVE ME LIFE” Dracula roared out to the heavens

Helsing rushed forward and grabbed Vision, pulling him forward but his foot was stuck. Before either of them could move another bolt hit Vision again, this one more powerful than the last. It convulsed the eggs that held the creatures inside, but still was not enough to awaken them.

“One more bolt, and my young will live” he hissed looking up into the sky. It was then he took notice of Helsing trying to free Vision. Dracula’s rage surged, forcing him to shift to his true form. He flew up breaking forth into the night sky.

“Come on we’re almost there” Helsing smiled at Vision but stopped when he noticed the gruesome expression upon Vision’s face. He had not even a moment before Dracula knocked him down having him crash several feet into the lab. Vision tried to reach for him but a bolt of lightning sent him flying.

That’s one of my all-time favourite things about Star Wars! That all of these good and heroic aspects of Anakin survive in the form of those he knew/trained/loved and come back to directly thwart Vader and the Empire!

this is like asking a medieval christian monk if he remembers the ten commandments like if not what have I been wasting my years learning

unsung benefit i think a lot of ppl are sleeping on with using the public library is that i think its a great replacement for the dopamine hit some ppl get from online shopping. it kind of fills that niche of reserving something that you then get to anticipate the arrival of and enjoy when it arrives, but without like, the waste and the money.

bonus it ALSO fills that dopamine hit of in-person shopping. “oh I didn’t go in looking for this but hmm, I’m tempted… I can’t resist… oh ho ho I have made some irresponsible decisions at the library today [carrying my stack of ten random books]” and then it doesn’t even matter if you don’t like them because a) free b) you’re gonna give them back anyway

Librarian here! Please please please please PLEASE do this! We don’t have any way to know if you read them, and we don’t care! We’re happy to see those books go out because that helps our stats. And that affects how much money we can get.

So grab that silly paperback romance, and maybe this new YA fantasy, oh and check for the new movies too! And don’t forget to check Libby and hoopla for music and ebooks and e-audio.
