New year, new pinned post! I have art commissions open, including character sheets, comic pages, and fully illustrated backgrounds! You can find more info by sending me a DM or checking [my Google Doc.] The doc also has some more options for commissions, like additional characters or minor background elements.

I also have some shops open! [Ko-Fi] has all the merch that I sell at conventions available to be shipped to you. Stickers, prints large and small, charms, sticker sheets, and hopefully more as the year goes on! You can also use it to leave me a tip if you like. [Redbubble] has various designs that I don't have physical merch of myself for one reason or another, as well as types of merch that I don't make, like clothing or notebooks.

Send me a DM or email me at magicalgirlartist@gmail.com for more information or to get started! Reblogs of this post are also greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Whenua and Nuju playing chess, or some Matoran universe equivalent. Nokama takes an interest in the game, and picks up on the rules and how the pieces move mostly by observation (they don’t mind her watching as long as she doesn’t interrupt.) After one of their matches, she asks them how they got so skilled at the game.

Nuju explains that it’s simply a matter of anticipating the opponents’ probable movements over the next, say, fifteen to twenty turns and planning his own strategy accordingly. When Nokama points out that Nuju’s own moves may change how the opponent strategizes, Nuju replies that the way to circumvent this is to have a dozen or so different versions of his opponent’s predicted trajectory in mind, rank them in order of probability, and update them as need be. But of course, he is an advanced level player. A total novice like Nokama wouldn’t realistically be thinking more than six or seven steps ahead of an opponent, but, we all have to start somewhere.

Whenua thinks that’s ridiculous, you don’t need to devise a completely new plan with multiple variants every time. All you need to do is memorise a collection of existing strategies you can draw upon, because the game is so old that almost every possible combination of moves has been done before by somebody. Having a few hundred early, middle and endgame strategies on hand is best if you’re a serious player, but he’d be happy to show Nokama a couple dozen of his favourites to get her started…

Nokama is starting to think this game might not be quite her kind of thing after all…

never forget the universal rule of the order of things: People Will Not Read It

signs at stores? émail? menu ?? instruction ? post online ? caption with andswer to question ? group hand outs ??? street sign ??? no. The Written Word Is The Enemy

The ability to occasionally Read A Thing will make you a hero in your workplace, especially if it is for example an error message that tells you what you need to do differently, or instructions on unjamming a printer.

how dare you say we put jam in the printer

lotta people are saying the price thing is an overreaction and yeah, for the console price alone, maybe.

but its the combination of that plus the overpriced games Plus having to pay an online subscription to play half of those games PLUS any potentially needed replacements (we all remember the joycon drift fiasco. its a wonder the court case went the way it did.)

on top of the fact that a solid 50% of the switch's general audience would not be able to afford it with these prices. while there is such a wide audience that uses it, a considerable majority is: children and young adults. folks who arent exactly going to have a nicely paying office job.

also the minimum wage where i live is still $7.25 and i have more important things to pay for, like food, and student loans.

so while it is probably an overreaction, can you exactly blame so many people for being pissed? they deserve a little screaming and whining time, alright?

also why are you jumping to the defense of a corporate entity. you look like a tool.

"ohhh!! economic inflation is at fault not nintendo!!! ohhhhh!!!" like i dont know this. do you think im fucking stupid.

interestingly however, corporations are part of why this economic inflation is happening !! how curious! that this violent cycle involves the very people who take advantage of it !!!

extremely funny bit of KNPS lore(?) that I just realized is that if Kopaka wants he can just. make it be a snow day. like he wakes up one morning with a headache and is like "I just really don't want to deal with kids today" and just makes it snow really hard for a few hours

the question is how many times can he get away with it before the Turaga realize what he's doing and call him out on it? my guess is twice (Nuju figured it out the first time but also he did it a few times when he was a Toa and didn't say anything)

I think he would do this even if he just got plain old regular sick and could have had a legitimate sick day (assuming it was a plausible enough time of year for a snow day to happen), because coming back the day after a a sub had been in his class would fill him with dread. They probably Touched The Things On His Desk. And put them down in a slightly different spot from before. Which of course means that they must have also taught all the lessons wrong, set the students' education back several months, and ruined his life in a variety of other cruel and unusual ways.

Kopaka HATES having subs in his class. The fact that he tolerates Pohatu teaching them for one period when he doesn't have to is nothing short of a miracle, and even then it's at least half because they're not usually in his classroom for it. (The other half is. uwu) I think he resists taking sick days in general because of that, and also because it's fine, he's fine, Pohatu, he's not actually that sick

Nokama and Onewa have to bully him into taking sick days, Nokama because "staying home when you're sick is actually the right call, whether you feel that bad or not" and Onewa because "you can't bank your sick days anymore, Kopaka, and every time people don't use all their sick days that's ammo for the government to decide we don't need them and try to take them away"

But yeah I think it's exactly twice that there's a snow day that Kopaka is Conveniently Sick for before Vakama calls him out on it

The second one was in late March, so he kinda knew he was pushing his luck on "plausible deniability" there.

So. Uh. Apollo got me with the red ball real bad this time.

@magicalgirlmascot you doing ok over there?

Yeah, my power was out for abt 5 hours overnight which isn't ideal but manageable. I think rural areas are worse affected but there was hella ice on everything all weekend. I'm glad I didn't work lol.

The thing too is that just a couple weeks ago we were having 20+ degree weather, nice and warm and sunny and gorgeous. And then we had a major cold snap and more snow (not a lot but still) and now this.

So Kopaka causing a snow day in late March isn’t implausible, but his colleagues WILL be harassing him about it for weeks because "it was finally getting WARM you asshole"

Also, here is what it looked like out the back window at work a couple hours ago:

[ID: photo of a grassy yard leading to a marina, covered in snow and ice pellets. Its grey out. End ID.]

(Also, you can't see it, but there is a body of water in this image. On a clear day you can see clear across the bay.)

Tomorrow it's supposed to go up to 17°C.

Ontario is just like this.

For April Fools I should upload a joke chapter of KNPS that's like "I think i should go back to my roots" and the whole thing is 2006 "XD lol random" humour

To be fair, “The Toa Teach Elementary School!!!! IN CANADA!!!” is kind of a BZPower-comedy-ass premise. Like it fits right in with….
