Summary:

Being sent to live in a dilapidated farm with a person they can barely stand for an indefinite amount of time felt like a cruel and unusual punishment to Nayuta and like it should be the premise of some cozy romance game to Touka, were it not Nayuta that she was stuck with.

After their fields begin to function, Nayuta insists that there are lights floating around at night and a dark figure sneaking around, and she will stab it with a pitchfork if she absolutely must. Touka thinks she should be sent to a psych ward for it.

Touka wants everyone to stop asking her to do farm work and thinks their hired help is excessively mean to her, yet feels the need to unveil whatever secrets that helper may be hiding. Nayuta thinks Touka has simply never had a crush before.

Nemu would prefer it if the Satomi cousins stopped making her blood pressure spike. Rumors of a planned regicide, the special ops officers at the inn, and the locals' increasing tendency to go into the forest without a talisman were bad enough before she encountered Touka "I Am Going To Make Bad Decisions" Satomi.

Nevertheless, Rika takes the mission, looking for an opportunity to put her powers to the test, as well as to see Shinsei now that there’s a peace between the City States. She arrives, ready to begin her investigation, and while none have seen the assailant responsible for the attacks, the populace does suspect someone: a mysterious woman spoken in hushed tones known as the Walking Corpse…

* January 1st, 2025: Signups for both artists and authors open.

* January 24th, 2025: Signups for both artists and authors close.

* February 7th, 2025: Summaries are due, and artists begin selecting their summaries.

* February 14th, 2025: All artists must have selected their top three summaries by now.

* February 14-17th, 2025: Artist assignments go out.

* February 27th, 2025: Check-in to make sure all artist and author teams have contacted each other.

As we anticipate this event to be fairly small, we are not stringent on time zones. It just needs to be the relevant date somewhere in the world.

What is a Mini Bang?

The Magia Record Finale Mini Bang is a fandom event for writers and artists, with the goal of creating collaborative work based on and inspired by the mobile game Magia Record (and its spinoff media).

We will be running it in two formats!

- first group will be required to write a oneshot of around 1000-2000 words in length and their artist needs to provide a clean black and white sketch.

- second group is for any story over 2000 words and the artist will provide a colored art piece.

Once the authors have decided on and submitted summaries for their work, the stories will be claimed by artists and matched. As the author works on completing their work, they will collaborate with the artist. Then, each artist will create at least one piece of accompanying fanart.

Once we reach the deadline, all fic writers and artists will 'reveal' their work, resulting in a 'bang' of MagiReco fan content.

How Does it Work?

Once signups open, authors will have until April to complete a MagiReco fanfiction of at least one thousand words. A month into the writing period, they must submit an anticipated summary of their piece, and closer to the end of the event, they must submit a draft showing that at least 500 words have been written.

A month into the event, summaries are received and posted publicly for artists to see. Artists then go through and pick the TOP 3 summaries they would like to draw art for most. We will do our best to get artists the summaries they prioritize highest, but it's very important they select three, because unfortunately giving everyone their number one pick is likely impossible.

Artists will be allowed to tell us pairings, squicks, triggers, tropes, ratings, characters, etc that they refuse to draw for, and they can also inform us if there are any participants they are not comfortable working with.

Once the posting period begins in April, participants may post their works at any time throughout the month. All of these will of course be reblogged to this blog!

Who Runs This Project?

Mod Abarero (she/her, cis lesbian): This is my third time running a bang, but l've run several large fandom projects before. I've been playing MagiReco since August 2019, survived playing on both the NA and CN servers until closure and played up until closure on the JP server. It is now her goal to help keep MagiReco alive via Fandom projects.

FAQ:

What can I write?

Whatever you want as long as it's Magia Record. This means it must focus on elements that are specifically Magia Record related (those original characters or Holy Quintet in MR-specific world/premise)

There is no rating restriction (but you must be CLEAR about the rating when submitting your summary, and participants under eighteen cannot write or draw for mature fics). Alternate Universe is acceptable, as is crossover as long as the focus is primarily on the MagiReco cast.

Finished fics must be posted on A03. If you do not have an A03 account and need one, let me know.

Finished fics will also be added to a MagiReco mini-bang collection.

Can anyone participate?

Yes, absolutely. Just sign up.

What happens if there are more writers than artists?

In this admittedly likely scenario, there will be a section of the artist signup form that asks if you are willing to complete art for more than one fanfiction.

If you are, please let us know (tentatively, this does not have to be set in stone) how many you think you can do. It is perfectly fine if you can only do one, but we appreciate anyone willing to help out by doing more than one.

Can I do something that isn't fanart? Cosplay, gifs, graphics, or fanvids?

Yes you can! However, there will be a section on the form for writers for if they'd prefer only fanart, or they'd be willing to collaborate on another medium.

Can I sign up as both author and artist?

Yes. Definitely. Just select both on the form!

CONTENT GUIDELINES:

• ALL work must have sensitive content labeled.

This includes the standard A03 labels (Graphic Depictions of Violence, Major Character Death, Rape/Non-Con, Underage Sexual Content), as well as anything else you may deem necessary. Please do not just label something 'dead dove, do not eat!' You must explain what the dead dove is. All pairings present must also be labeled.

• As mentioned earlier, mature content is okay, but participants under eighteen cannot write or draw for it.

Other notes:

* It is required that participants join the official mini-bang discord to help communication between artists, writers and mod.

* If your story is a chapter fic, you do not have to post it all in one go. If you have a longer fic and want to space out chapters on a weekly basis starting in April, feel free to do so.

* If you have unfinished work from a previous mini bang that is okay, but you must have at least posted the required first chapter from that before signing up again.

While we sit and wait for Exedra, why not create some fanworks?

The MagiReco Mini Bang Comment Drive!

For those of you in the fandom who enjoy reading fanfiction and viewing fanart, we challenge you to participate in the MagiReco Mini Bang Comment Drive!

What’s a Comment Drive?

A Comment Drive is a fandom event with prizes to help encourage people to engage with the fanworks they consume. We will be holding ours the month of November to celebrate the release of all the Mini Bang Fanfics and Fanart!

How to participate:

As this is a comment-based event, you earn 'raffle tickets' by leaving comments on MagiReco Mini Bang fanfiction and artwork. You only need one ticket to be eligible to win, but the more tickets you earn, the higher your chances of winning. 

How to earn tickets:

You earn a ticket by leaving 3 comments on 3 different fanfictions or pieces of artwork (3 comments = 1 ticket). Different chapters of the same fanfiction also count. The comments must be phrased in a positive light and exceed 5 words.

However, entrants can earn 2 tickets per 3 comments (3 comments = 2 tickets) if you meet the following conditions:

- All three comments exceed 15 words.

- All three comments mention/reference something in the fic/artwork that you particularly like (a scene/line of writing/the concept/the colour etc.)

BONUS: If you’re the very first 15 word+ AO3 comment on a fanfic, you get 3 tickets for it!

Once you’ve made your comments, message @magireco-minibang or DM @abarero on Tumblr or Discord with links to where you’ve left comments. Comments can be made to the AO3 comment section of the fanfic or to the tumblr post for the fanfic or fanart or in reply to the person posting a link to it on Discord. 

To ensure your comments count, make sure:

1. They’re left on MagiReco Mini Bang Fall 2024 fanworks. Follow @magireco-minibang to see them as they’re posted or check out this tag for them! (We also have a Masterpost here!)

2. They’re left on three different fanfics/artworks or three separate chapters of one fanfic.

3. They’re not copy/paste identical comments. 

4. You submit a link to your comments to @magireco-minibang or @abarero (here or on Discord).

5. The comments are made sometime between November 1st and November 30, 2024.

6. There’s no limit to comments, so comment away!
