*The day Ellie went missing was a day Nikolai thought was the worst. But when he got the news of Lou's death, everything went downhill.

Nikolai wasn't himself. She rarely ate, barely spoke, stopped making things for the kids, and locked off Lou's room to keep it preserved like she was still there.

He knew it was silly but she couldn't bare to remember that Lou was dead. It just needed her room to stay the same to give him some hope that she would come back one day.*

*nikolai was far too hysterical to listen to her since (in its mind) he'd just killed her (already dead) daughter*

“Oui, use your brain”

"ellie...dovey...i'm sorry for everything. i wish i'd been a better mother, i should've let you play outside more. you were the best thing to ever happen to me and i let you die. you deserved so much better. you didn't deserve to live like this. i loved you so much..."

*she crouched down next to the amethyst*

“I always wondered what happens when a Hecate kid dies. We’re made of magic, not really people, I imagine we just cease to exist as the magic returns to its source”

*at some point, once he mostly calmed down, she handed one of the halves to Granite while still holding the other half close*

“..thank you. Just don’t bury her, alright? Make her a necklace to keep close to your heart, or something like that”

"i don't wanna break ellie any more so i'm gonna keep her in her room"

“She ain’t fragile, but alright”

"I just wanna keep her in one piece"

“You’re quite odd.”

"Ellie said that too"

“Huh. Odd. People always said me and her were similar”

"You look just like her...it hurts to look at you for long"

"You look just like my dovey"

“She looks more like Alabaster…”

"I met Al and she doesn't look like him. She looks just like you"

“Don’t him al, he’d probably kill ya.”

"Got so used to Ellie calling him that I guess it passed over"

“Not believable but ok. Lou Ellen would have told you off for calling him Al to”

*he nodded and got quiet*

“…a shroud will be weaved soon enough.”

"I'll make her favorite foods and celebrate her memory for the next 40 days"

“I must be going”

"Give my condolences to everyone"

"I did all I could to protect her, I swear."

“I never trusted you, I trusted Lou’s judgment, but maybe, for once, my sister’s judgment proved wrong”

*Nikolai was about to respond when one of the babies started crying at the same time as one of the younger kids started calling for Niko*

*Granite stared at her coldly*

"Just...go talk to Chapel. I need to check on the kids"

“Where is Lou”

"Safe"

*That was the last thing Nikolai told her before closing the door*

*granite had put her foot in front of the door so it couldn’t close*

"Go home. Please."

“No, this isn’t over. I still don’t know what happened to my sister. And I don’t intend to leave this to you, because I’ve known Lou Ellen longer.

*Nikolai just sighed and turned away to go take care of the kids who were calling for her, trying to find a sense of normalcy*

*granite simply stares*

"If you want you can look in her room but please don't touch anything, I wanna keep it the way it is"

“I don’t care for that, I want to be entirely sure her death isn’t your fault, because right now it’s not looking good for you”

*Nikolai was already struggling but to hear someone who looked so much like his dead daughter say that it was responsible for her death just made things worse*

*granite looked annoyed, her eyes burning with the same sort of anger Lou’s did*

*he couldn't take it and just started crying*

“Give me one reason why I should believe you. And I will not take “because she’s my daughter” because that’s irrelevant to my question”

"Read this."

*Nikolai handed Granite a journal before going to take care of the kids*

*granite try’s, and fails, she can’t read Ukrainian and her English is almost worse then Lous*

*Thankfully, there was a translated page (made for Lou) that Granite could read. The translated pages contained the note that Nikolai had written Lou (back before he died for like a few minutes) and a few other heartfelt notes that showed how much he cared for her. There were also heartfelt notes written by lou stuck between the pages*

“Mhm, interesting.”

*once the kids were settled, Nikolai went to go drop something off in Lou's room*

*granite stays downstairs*

"Granite! Can you come here please?"

*granite walks over*

"You should have these..."

*Nikolai handed her a box of stones (lou's dead siblings) but took one out before handing her the box*

“Who did you take-?”

"lou..."

*granite stares at it*

"I wanna bury her under her favorite tree"

*nikolai started to put rock!lou into his overcoat*

“Lou has a plot at camp.”

"She loved this tree more than anything so it's only fair to bury her there"

“Should she not be buried in the same yard as her siblings?”

"I never said she shouldn't. But if you would just listen then you would start to understand"

“I am listening.”

*The two went back and forth listing reasons as to where Lou should be buried until things got heated*

“You don’t even live where the tree you speak of is, you’d be abandoning her!”

"We move back in a year! I'd bury her when we get back!"

“She’s Greek! We don’t even bury our dead”

"I'm sorry that I want to do something special for my dead daughter!"

“I’m sorry Lou had in writing what she wants when she’s dead! I can fucking show you what she wrote”

"Let's just put this aside for now!"

*Nikolai went to put Rock!Lou in his overcoat*

“No, I’m not giving this up, and you are NOT going to keep Lou Ellen hidden”

"She will not be hidden!"

“Fucking lies”

*granite pulled her sword from its sheath*

"Granite."

*Nikolai got very serious and reached for something in his overcoat*

“One of us has been directly told by Lou Ellen what she wants when she’s dead, and one of us has not.”

"Lou is my daughter. It would feel wrong for her to not be buried near me."

“Have you no care for what she wanted? Have you no care for the traditions she valued?”

"I do care! But I don't know how I'd be able to live if I couldn't be near her"

“You’d get over it. Do you really think what you want to do with her is more important than what she wanted after death?”

"Get out of my house."

“Give me Lou Ellen.”

"Get. Out."

“You either give me my sister or I fight for her.”

"I'm not fighting with you and I am not giving you my daughter."

“are you going to go so far to blatantly disrespect Lou Ellen?”

"Granite. Please get out."

*Nikolai tried to move past her*

“No! I’m not leaving my sister! Not when she told me what she wants! You can grieve but I will not let you disrespect Lou Ellen Joan Blackstone”

*Nikolai had had enough of the arguing and just pushed past her, forgetting that Granite had a sword and said she would fight him*

*granite lunges and takes hold of her, pulling them both to fall out the window*

*nikolai tried to shove her away but it didn't work and when they hit the ground, rock!lou split in two*

*granite stared at lou*

*Nikolai quickly scooped up the pieces and began sobbing hysterically as she held the two halves close*

"No no no! Ellie! Ellie I'm sorry! I'm sorry i'm sorry i'm sorry!"
