i like to think about random TV/book casts and put them into the MCU Blip.
like in currently writing a godawful amount of MCU fics right now. but i’m also binge watching 9-1-1, so it’s left me to extensively daydream the 9-1-1 characters into the very traumatizing main plotline of my biggest WIP (the ballad of a dove). and that just led me to think about the 9-1-1 characters and the Blip.
the MCU blip happens in 2018. you know what also starts in 2018? 9-1-1. my proposal is this: the show starts a couple months after the blip. the cast we know is all alive, but a varying amount of their loved ones have been snapped. buck joins not just for the reasons he already has in the show, but because the fire department is scrambling now that it’s lost half of its members. he wants to help with that. he also doesn’t know if maddie is alive or not; that is until she shows up with her things, stating that doug has been snapped.
it would be interesting moreover to think about these characters after they’ve been been brought back. doug’s attempt on maddie after maddie has spent 5 years rehabilitating with buck and the 118 has a far different ring to it. it still ultimately ends the same, but the thoughts that would be running through theirs heads would be far more convoluted.
and then we have some other characters: maybe eddie’s wife did leave, but then she was snapped. knowing she would never come back, eddie packed up and left. so when does come back from the blip and seek out her kid and eddie, what do they make of it? bobby would probably have had the least to lose; it makes it a little more difficult for him to relate to the 118 because he lost everyone before the blip.
and then i come to other medias. like jujutsu kaisen or bungou stray dogs. it would be particularly interesting for them because japan is far away from the euro-american-centric superhero fights. do you think they would have been blindsided by it? i don’t know. just food for thought
