After receiving orders from the Israeli Forces to evacuate our area, we were forced to leave our tent, running for safety while bombs rained down around us. Now, we are living in tent whicg needs new setting, enduring the cold, rain, and the constant fear of more attacks. South Sudan faces economic collapse, political instability, worsening food insecurity and climate shocks. Without urgent action, these challenges could deepen the country’s humanitarian crisis.

The ongoing war in Sudan has created a growing economic crisis for South Sudan. Almost all of South Sudan’s government income comes from oil, which must be exported through Sudan. As of the publication of the 2025 Emergency Watchlist

Families are struggling with hyperinflation, a steep drop in the value of their currency, and food prices that were over 95% higher in July 2024 compared to the previous year. The war in Sudan puts South Sudan’s entire economy at serious risk of collapse.

Ongoing insecurity in South Sudan puts civilians—especially women and children—at high risk of violence, exploitation and abuse. Local conflicts could intensify in 2025 as economic problems lead to more violence. South Sudan’s first elections have been repeatedly delayed, leading to a series of protests. Meanwhile, the peace deal that ended the 2013–2018 civil war expired in February 2025.

AS OF THE LGBTQ REFUGEES 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

The law in the country criminalizes LGBTQ practice in the country, as of 2025 there's about 500 LGBT 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ refugees living in a camp located in Juba city known as GOROM refugee camp. However there's too much homophobic people which puts the life of the Queer folks at risks. The challenges of food,water and medicine 💊 is also a day to day struggle to them.

To top the list, USAID has been cut off from south Sudan which has posed greater risks of the HIV positive LGBTQ refugees at death ☠️ stances.

I think Thomas toontown is super validating to me also because he is non-partening and likes to be alone. not that there aren't other aro or aroace characters like this (there are!), but I do think we get more aro characters or hell even headcanons of characters that have really close friends, or family members or even a partner. I like that Thomas is genuinely both someone that likes to be alone and also a very lonely person. I like that they state that they enjoy being alone, they are happy being alone, but they also hate the isolation thay comes with being aspec in an amatonormative society.

I mean the only person he is actually close to is his brother, who ignores him more often now because he is married. And while Thomas doesn't really want to form friendships with others (this is about being aplatonic too), it's difficult for him to do that and not be isolated from the world (which is crazy isn't it, almost as if we should rethink how our society works). But the good news is that he pulls it off and spends time with some cogs that respect who they are and they don't really become friends but spend time together sometimes. And after that Thomas is still alone, but I mean that in a good way.

Thomas doesn't have close friends or friends at all, they don't have any sort of partner, they are alone with their plants and that's all they need. He hopes his brother and himself will be closer someday, that's part of their character conflict. Thomas at the end of the day likes being alone, that's who they are
