I remember a teacher telling me how Archaeologists would hack off the noses of statues they found in order to remove any indication that it was of a black person or any POC. It hurts me to think of all the art we’ve lost and damaged because of historical revisionism and flat out racism.

I…wasn’t taught this. Only about penises being broken off as censorship.

When I was in primary school (around 8 or 9) I asked why none of the Egyptian statues had noses. They lied to us and said that they broke off because they were a really fragile bit of the statues so when I learnt the real reason (years later) I was so pissed off with teachers for lying to millions of school children around the world. It’s disgusting and needs to be taught properly.

That’s sad. I wasn’t aware of this when I went to art museums. I just assumed noses were missing due to erosion... But now I know the truth, and I’m glad to know it 😔

Attention New Artists!

Hey everyone!

So as some of you know, I am an aspiring artist here on Tumblr and in the world! My friend @shiromuki and I are trying to find novice artists and bloggers like us who want to create a community of like situated people to help support and promote each other’s work.

Requirements:

-must be an artist

-any media is fine as long it is mostly or completely BTS related fanart or other

-smaller blogs are preferred as we are trying to help each other promote each other’s work and bigger blogs don’t really need that

-must be open to joining a community on different platforms (i.e. Twitter, discord, etc.) depending on what is most convenient

-platforms must be noncompetitive as our goal is to support each other not one up one another

-must sustain a calm, pleasant, supportive, and creative environment
