he is so dumb. and by dumb I mean cool and funny and smart and I like him.
I know him leaving the copy of TLAM is basically his way of saying "go fuck yourself" to the player, but I do genuinely wonder what kind of literature he prefers to read.
probably history and more informative nonfiction. not even for guild work, just self interest. I can't see him being into fiction but journals and poetry are probably his pick for lighter reading
my personal timeline for mercer:
- ran away from home at 12. he was the youngest Riften's guild had taken in a while.
- mercer trained and quickly learned, earning his status as a senior member and eventually nightingale by only 16.
- he takes the new title very seriously, and recruits Karliah himself. he's 19 when she joins. they're fast friends.
- three more years pass, and Dralsi dies. Gallus and himself induct Karliah as a nightingale shortly after.
- he starts to question the purpose of the Ebonmere as well as Nocturnal.
- mercer and Gallus disagree on what being a nightingale means, and the fatal altercation at Snowveil happens.
- he becomes guildmaster at 23.
- dies before his 48th winter.
