To be fair, she is a highly trained fighter and killer of monsters going to a college to get legally paid to kill said monster.
she was a first year student. girl was probably taking gen ed and intro courses. she was athletic and skilled but good god she was barely drinking age.
she’s “has a 2 weeks minecraft phase” age. “asks her mom for robux” age.
Also if memory serves , the concept of a higher war was entirely new to her . Up until that point , the huntress academies were “Local wildlife is causing problems ! Sign up today to protect humanity”

Yang - I…I think he loves his SON. The one who’s going to carry on his name , and show how masculine he is. But if I showed him who I really am
[Ruby thought for a moment for something to say , but being a young baby child , the words escaped her. So she carefully climbed over Yang's Raven , and Yang herself , and hugged her sister tight from behind]
Yang - [giggles] What are you DOING
Ruby - [strain] Hugging you so hard !
Yang - Why ?
Ruby - So you know what love feels like
Yang - Is this what love feels like ?
Ruby - Yes
[Yang was about to respond when she considered Ruby’s actions. Sometimes love was quiet, but the actions spoke volumes]

Ruby - [noticing Yang's face, but keeping her eyes on her dad] I think Yang would like one too !
Tai - Ruby honey, I don't think Yang would ….
Yang- [speaking up at the chance without thinking] I WOULD
[Tai looked down at her skeptically, and Yang looked back at him. She felt like a bother, like she was stealing from Ruby's moment….but Ruby had given it to her….so]
Tai - …what color ?
Yang- Y…yellow
Tai - Ok…I will get you one tomorrow
