Despite having created less than previous years, I am happy with what I created this year. I can see progress and think my style is finally somewhat consistent and developing to be visibly 'mine', which is nice. It has been very slow though, I have a lot of wips that are abandoned or in the wait to be finished since January or even longer. A lot of stuff I haven't posted yet, which I might get to in the coming days.

Thank you so much for this ask, I am so sorry it took so long to answer but I wanted to gather all I have on him for ya ;w; So Nihl is cis, he's bi with a preference towards men.

Nihl's father Evindal is an elf, his mother Tharlesa is a human. He's got a brother - Tanithil, the oldest of the three of them, a middle sister Llyriana, and then there's the youngest Nihlorin of the Galamaer family, aged 23. Nihl father is a healer, his mother is a midwife. His sister has a husband and already has kid(s?) of her own.

His mother really wanted a third child. From what Nihl heard, she used to ask and ask for over a year for a third one. "She missed the smell of a baby" his father would joke. Being the only magically gifted individual in their family, he's a quite different approach to Weave than most. While to Gale the Weave is everything, not a minute passes where he doesn't surround himself by it for any reason or purpose, to Nihl it's more of a tool, a hammer you pick up when you need it and put it back once you're done. He's cultivated this approach due to the way his family worked around the house and more than a few failed experiments when he tried to put his sorcerer's powers to make his life easier; gaining the exactly opposite effect as well as a few scars, including the one on his cheek. Personality-wise, Nihl is a rather sincere person, steadfast, one to tackle the problem with a brave face. He has a sarcastic side to him too, especially when annoyed, or close with someone. He is the sunshine archetype, nearly always with at least half a smile on his face, but one can catch a glimpse of the weight on his shoulders showing on his face when he thinks he's left alone. A lot of Nihl's personality shows when bounced off of Gale. They're a wizard and sorcerer duo. Purple and gold. Moon and sun. Crocus and daffodil. Both idealistic, good at heart, willing to go to lengths and make sacrifices to bring peace to those in need. Though Nihl being far younger is prone to making rushed decisions and overall poor judgment, often assuming the best in people, mistaking malice for ignorance. Though it seems that these lapses he makes don't bother him, or at least he never lets it show if they do. Below are copied conversations, so I apologise if they are a bit hard to read.

Being the youngest sibling, deep down he is terrified of the responsibility of being a leader. Always the third and always the 'baby' of the family, he rarely had the chance to "be on the front". But he takes it all on, he has to (partly because he needs to prove himself, he can be like his siblings, he can do good too!). But his magic is unstable, unreliable sometimes even. He feels, knows ,that Gale's fate is in his hands, and he's afraid that he will fail. Fail his parents, his siblings, Gale, his friends, the world, all of them. This part feels a bit muddy in my memory, but I believe that I headcanoned Nihl to have been sent off to a school that mistreated its students. Nihl, knowing how much work his parents put into sending him into such a prestigious place, decided to endure it, and never let his parents know what went on in there for the ultimately short time he spent there.

"Nihl sees the whip in Abdirak's hand and suddenly he's 14 again, his abjuration teacher stands before him and the sound of leather squeezed in his palm permeates the air like nails scraping over chalkboard. It's been two hours now, Nihl thinks, it's hard to tell after the sun has set. Two hours when he's been trying to cast a ward to shield himself from the whip like the teacher told him to. He fails each time and wont be allowed to leave until he finally manages to protect himself from at least one strike. Gale's innocent joke brings him back to reality, though the smell of blood lingers on from the memory, into the present." The thing that Gale teaches him, shows him through their adventures together, is that no matter the circumstances, no matter what hardships you are subjected to because of magic, you can always find beauty in it and through it. Despite your experiences of magic you can overcome those, and it's not magic itself that had hurt him, but people who wield it for evil means. Nihl doesn't have that many scars from his time at school, because the teachers had other, *preferred*, means of reprimanding the students and it's for the same reason that Nihl doesn't touch the Illusion type magic at all.
