just curious, why don't you take commissions?

two main reasons!

  1. I honestly just don't have time. I work a full time job, and run my own patreon and store in addition to that. I love what I do, but that combo doesn't leave much free time as it is, so I don't want to take on even more.
  2. Because of the above, I'd have to charge for my TIME instead of my SKILL. What I mean by this is: every commission I took would take time away from my other jobs, so I have to account for how much I'd be making if I spent that time on one of those instead. This results in what I think is not really a 'fair' rate to ask for my art, because it isn't a price based on my actual skill level, just on what my time would cost.

IDK if that makes sense and probably isn't a fun way to think about art but while I love it, it is my career! I am an adult with like. a mortgage and groceries to pay for. so reality is I just have to choose the methods that make me the better income.

hi, i love your artstyle and i think your art is really amazing! do you have any tips for artists? i love drawing but it kills me sometimes T-T (especially anatomy)

tysm!! <3

I feel like I'm really slow to improve so I have a hard time giving like.. actionable advice tbh.

I would say finding something that gets you excited to spend time drawing is great - like whatever fandom you're in or ocs or whatever. bc sometimes the mental side of staying motivated really is hard!

And if you're struggling with anatomy, try to spend some time studying it. I like to use figure drawing websites to practice anatomy sometimes, for example. Or there are lots of tutorials and guides that break things down. I try to take mental note of what I'm struggling with when I draw (specific things like hands, back muscles, arm angles, etc) and take time to study those later when I can.

Here are some good sources I know of: figure drawing: quickposes, line of action, senshistock anatomy videos: proko, sycra If you think you'd have an easier time with a more 'guided' style of learning, going through an anatomy book and really studying and redrawing examples can be helpful too! otherwise I honestly just google search for help like "how to draw backs" or "hand drawing tutorial" etc

sorry that's rambly I hope there's something useful in there :')

I keep thinking I should make merch that isnt just aftg but everytime I sit down to design stuff I wind up going haha what if more aftg instead tho... stay tuned i guess!!!!!

(i also have no idea whats popular right now tbh but)
