My Dear Friends (Alive Today)

With friends most dear I am alive today here in this oftimes crazy game we play Tomorrow tells me not where I might be yet in this one moment I know I am free Praying for a day when no one pretends there I'll gladly stay with my dear friends For tomorrow's gods I shall offer no fear seeing today those I love most are near My dear friends for peace and love I pray and I am grateful you too are alive today

Why

As I asked why her voice fell somewhere between silence a dove’s coo  and a sigh  it quivered as I inquired I’m sorry, it’s just it’s just that I’m so terribly tired the children’s eyes are touched by tears their innocent hearts filled  with empty fears everything always fades away love so often passes by and it’s hard to face another day with so many questions yet  no one it seems can tell me why

As If

“As if you were on fire from within, The moon lives in the lining of your skin.”

~ Pablo Neruda As if there were ever any doubt from the sky the stars would fall without A lovely essence delicate and fine that even the sun itself could not outshine  The flame that burns deep within me sparkles in your eyes like waves on the sea At your tranquility the gods might gasp and yet your loving arms are in my grasp

Damaged Goods (Dreaming While Awake)

High School days and too cool friends our strict code of shouldn’ts and shoulds  stay away from her, stay away they said can you not see she’s damaged goods and then I saw her at the dance transfixed by her yearning glance I knew immediately she wasn’t damaged goods but only a lovely flower in need of a chance to have passed up that perfect opportunity would have been my greatest mistake as I now spend wondrous days and nights with you and get to live a dream while I’m awake

What Else Could I Do

Two young lovers unafraid   fairy tales and vapor trails ours would be a serenade   as one we’d face all travails But it wasn’t always laughter had a few memorable fights no simple happily ever after life gave us sleepless nights Here we are, made it there  you love me and I love you and I’m not going anywhere I mean what else could I do

My Dear Friend

My dear friend you make me smile and sigh with every kindness you deliver and though it's wondrous to receive you've taught me it's better to be a giver A golden presence at dusk or dawn each night you make the stars shine brighter softly floating just above this lonely world I see you and my heart grows lighter Sometimes feeling lost, unloved and alone when my fearful spirit knows not what to do I can once again turn to you my dear friend knowing full well I can always count on you

Dinosaur Wine

Whatever happened to manners magic words, thank you and please Does anyone respect their elders sir or ma’am sounds like a disease Phrases such as I forgive you now replaced by I’ve been dissed In this world full of all about me has a simple truth been missed We selfishly want ever more and must succeed at any cost Am I the only one who’s asking was not something special lost So why is it now lame to be polite or even incorrect to open a door Has my greatest fear come true have I truly become a dinosaur

Child

Strangely familiar was this path I’d taken  could it be a place that I’d long ago known   no sound but the leaves beneath my feet yet I could feel somehow I was not alone  A voice whispered child I hear you crying what troubles you thus why is it you weep  I replied life and love have passed me by I’ve done my best but the pain’s too deep  Dear me I’m afraid you’ve got it all wrong you’re confused little child he softly sighed you’re here to learn love and compassion     and you’ve done well for you always tried

“Deep and dark the river that flows between us. Keeping safe our secrets, sharing laughter as well as tears. Strong and silent, a treasure trove of unfathomable mysteries. Holding promises yet unspoken, reflecting dreams our eyes alone can see. I can’t say it’s love for certain, but if not, then I don’t know what else love might be.”
