BELA LUGOSI is DEAD and ME i feel also not so good
wife found out how much i spend on wandering mystics
recently saw a tiktoker talk about an ongoing case and say (direct quote) “we are literally watching a true crime documentary unfold before our very eyes” and that really sums up a lot of the criticisms I have about the way people talk about and consume true crime content. people are already twisting real peoples deaths into its potential future entertainment value for them before the family even has time to grieve
I NEED A SICKO... im holding out for a sicko till the end of the night ..and hes gotta haha and hes gotta say yess at the window with a look of delight
alright gang, we all love the berserker rage of acting like a violent animal on the battlefield, but we're going to solve war by all agreeing not to wield the demonic sword for our sworn liege tomorrow if it doesn't inconvenience us. let's send a message by only picking up the demonic sword the day after tomorrow, or two days from now if you can handle waiting a little bit. but you don't have to.
Like, okay, I love Taco Bell nachos. I love them so much. At time of filming, those cost a little under $3. If someone asked me if they were worth it, I would say, "Yes, certainly!" If tomorrow, they suddenly cost $20, I would immediately be able to say, "Oh, mm-mm, no. No, they're not worth that." I wouldn't say, "Well, I really like them, so I suppose if you can afford it, they're worth it." I would say no, they're worth around $3. Maybe up to five, if I was desperate.
This segment from jenny nicholsons star wars hotel video keeps playing in my head whenever people talk about the cost of video games these days so i'm clipping it because it's relatable to me.
"Do it scared" is out. "Do it in a fugue so dense as to barely be penetrable by uncertainty" is in.

Okay. Being autistic makes you objectively hotter and closer to god.
the rapid disintegration of rainbow capitalism pretty much encapsulates the problem with rainbow capitalism in the first place: it is and always was performative fair-weather allyship that evaporated in the face of any real political pressure
Problem? It was never a problem, unless you had unrealistic expectations for what it meant. It was a symptom, and a good one. — Be strategic and think about this deeper for a minute.
It was absolutely performative fair-weather allyship. But it was a bellwether that the pink dollar was worth taking over any hypothetical backlash a business might face for supporting the queers. For some, and at some times in the past, it was a reassurance that they would do business with you even if they knew you were gay, and that was a huge issue if you eg. wanted to buy a house or a car. And it helped make queerness both more visible and more normalised in society, instead of trying to sweep teh gays back into the closet.
You’re not going to get rid of cynical cash grabs so long as capitalism is around, so you might as well be clear-eyed about it and recognise that while rainbow merch is totally unreliable for actual support, it was a sign that the smart money was betting in your favour.
You can always trust a business to find a sort of middle space that's vaguely agreeable to most of its customers and sit there avoiding all controversy in the absolute most craven and soulless way possible.
This means that a business is in fact a very good indicator of what's vaguely agreeable to most of its customers and what counts as controversy.
Don't think of them as allies. They aren't people. They can't be. Think of them as a barometer. If the barometer is up, you've probably got sunny skies. When the barometer starts dropping, prepare for heavy weather moving in.
Sure. Job searching is going great. "Celery" is now a skill people are looking for.
Now these are some real skills
Is "Cassandra" the skill of giving prophecies that no one will listen to?
i feel like it's absolutely crucial in the social justice world to take "he a little confused but he got the spirit" and similar sentiments/situations as a Win. intent is so much more important than saying it right the first time! if someone is approaching with scuffed language and incorrect terms but they're visibly being as polite as they know how, that person is a friend and should be treated better than what their words might invite in someone else's mouth.
