Laughing makes it easier to forget, you have to forget to move on.

my fav thing about sunrise on the reaping was when haymitch was like yeah caeser i'm a lone wolf 😏 i'm with the newcomers but i'm not WITH the newcomers, yknow? they call me a rascal. a rebel against the gamemasters. I scored a ONE and that is a THREAT. you do not want to mess with me 🙅

cut to him with like 20 kids following him around like ducklings, him hiding in his t-shirt, him letting a bunny guide him to safety because it reminded him of his girlfriend, and him making nightlights out of potatoes.

MY SHAYLAAA

you ask a student in april how they're doing and they'll say "oh i'm fine" but in reality they are treating themselves in such a way that violates the geneva convention on treatment of prisoners

i genuinely think ocd is incredibly underdiagnosed bc i will see people posting what are obvious rituals, compulsions, intrusive thoughts, spiralling, hyper morality, etc and its like Have You Considered This Might Be An Issue

it isnt actually good or normal to have moral dilemmas every day about which posts you reblog. it isn't actually good or normal to check and recheck every message you send "just in case" you sent porn instead of a 'hi how are you'. it isn't actually good or normal to believe that your day will only go well if you have a specific keychain or whatever with you. like i'm not going to diagnose you but i do think some of you need to look into obsessive-compulsive disorder beyond "ha ha funny man wash his hands" portrayals.

I always tell people that even if they’re not pursuing diagnosis they should at least look at OCD support organizations’ pages on moral scrupulosity because that mindset is one you can literally see people developing in real time online.

I find this can help chip away a bit at stigma and confusion for people who have misconceptions that rituals can’t be mental (much of what people will describe as “checking for thought crimes” sounds a LOT like a mental ritual), as well as guide them towards tools for breaking the cycle of intrusive thoughts, obsession and ritual—or at the very least help persuade them that rituals reinforce, rather than “fix” those obsessions.

Like I do absolutely think people, especially ones who have access to counseling already, should raise and ask about these issues, including “I’m wondering if I might have OCD because…” (that is part of how I got diagnosed!), but these resources can be helpful for those who maybe haven’t had that kind of thought pattern before but encouraged themselves to do so because of social pressure to the point where they now have to un-learn it (essentially where it’s become disordered thinking) but will maybe balk at the idea of diagnosis because it hasn’t always been like that, or similar situations.

I try to emphasize that tools like this are open to anyone for whom they might be helpful, whether or not they have diagnosed OCD. Especially because some people who may get a diagnosis in future can still educate themselves now, and perhaps work towards one that way.

But for real, since I’ve started talking about OCD on my blog I’ve had literally half a dozen people talk to me (anon or not) about “…oh shit I had no idea OCD could look like [xyz thing]” and have The Realization, some of whom I know got diagnosed later and others of whom felt empowered to look into it when they hadn’t before because they were worried that seeking help with scrupulosity would be “appropriating OCD experiences” (people struggling with scrupulosity being scrupulous around needing help is definitely a bigger thing than I realized—it’s not just stigma or ignorance!).

Which is why I try to emphasize that everyone can and should take some time to learn about this stuff! The worst that can happen is you go “hm that doesn’t describe my experience” and you still know more about OCD and are better-prepared to support people who do have it.

Jinx and Ekko would bring out the worst and the best out of each other on that firelight base, those poor people would be seeing more of Ekko in the span of 2 days with Jinx than they've seen in the past 7 years, she's driving that man up the wall, to his wits end, to cloud 9 and to hell and she doesn't even try😭

Lowkey immature behaviour never seen before, pettiness, constant snarky comments between him and her, overly softie behaviour from Ekko worried about Jinx's mental state, puppy eyes at her when she's not looking cause he's got a staring problem, smiling throughout the day like the weight of war isn't on his shoulders(what are you smiling about bro), making jabs at her (like she isn't a terrorist who bombed Piltover), laughing with her and at her(bro that is Jinx), looking at her like a kicked puppy(BRO that is JINX), visibly sulking when he got into a spat with her when she got there initially. She's in his room, in his space, when he's not on duty he's with her or atleast mentally cause he's lost in thought and they know damn well it isn't about war plans he's sighing about

I can just imagine the collective bewilderment, everyone just agreeing to stay quiet and speak amongst themselves cause they don't know how to approach this, or if they should do so at all. Scar would have everyone on his ass asking questions cause they don't want to aproach Ekko directly or if/when they do, he doesn't give much information besides the strictly necessary to reassure them of their safety, "So u and Jinx?" "Idk what ur on about, anyway i got hoverboards to fix" "You two seem friendly" "yeah." "How's it going?" "fine." "Did you guys know each other all along?" "I guess you could say that." "She's a criminal" "I'll take full responsibility for her, i'd never put you in danger."

AND IF THEY DIDN'T KNOW THE GIRL ON THE MURAL WAS HER AND FOUND OUT? ¿IF THEY CONNECTED THE DOTS?

"Hey how long ago was that mural initially painted?"

"That? Oh Ekko started it years ago before the community got this big"

"So the people Ekko painted there are all dead people that he cared about right"

"I mean i'd hope so, no way he'd be painting people that are alive"

"Yeah, right... So who is that blue haired girl?"

"No idea, why are you getting so curious all of a sudden"

"Nothing.....just that.... doesn't Jinx have a tooth gap?"

"Why have you been staring at her teeth? Don't tell you too-"

"HELL NO. I mean she's prett- NO, Im just thinking, you know... her and Ekko clearly know each other much more personally than he's let on"

"Soooo? Get to the fucking point man im getting old here"

"Hear me out, blue hair, blue eyes, tooth gap, adopted daughter of Silco's, when did he paint that mural?"

"Oh...oh.... HOLD THE FUCK O-"

The possibilities are infinite i love the firelight community

httyd characters based on things my patients did during my hospital internship, enjoy!

hiccup: calls for help because he can't find his other shoe and he wants to walk, forgetting that he just got his leg amputated.

astrid: entire bed is drenched in blood from her wound but doesn't call the nurses because she didn't think it was a big deal.

fishlegs: tries to help the nurses with medical procedures on himself because "they're working so hard and he doesn't want to be a bother".

ruffnut: calls the nurses for everything despite being able to do it herself, once called them to hand her the glass of water that was on her nightstand.

tuffnut: puts all of his home medication into a plastic baggie, asks nursing staff what pills are in the bag bc he can't remember.

snotlout: pretends to be in pain to scare the interns when they're practicing because he thinks it's funny.

heather: is never in her room, shows up in the weirdest places, will take the elevator to other floors to have a look there in the middle of the night.

dagur: is put into isolation because he has a contagious illness, is also delirious, and when the nurse uses the intercom sits up in bed and thinks god is talking to him.

gustav: tries to use the call button as a phone because he misunderstood the "call" part.

I can get Nova feeling this way 100% and it is probably what MM wants us to think of Ace but I can't ever let go of the hc that Ace DID love her, it's just in a very very very fucked up way.

He ordered for her whole family to be killed and nearly got his way, and then finds out his niece had powers useful to him Yes, but also I like to think in a sense he realized he could keep family that HADN'T betrayed him. That he could see David in Nova from before he turned his back on Ace, and that's where his love for Nova stemmed from. Maybe in a sense he took missed when his brother was loyal and helped Nova grieve too, entirely different reasons, one was someone who directly caused all of it, and the other was a kid who deserved none of it, but still

NOT AT ALL SUPPORTED BY CANON THIS IS ME GOING "LALALALA" WHILE COVERING MY EARS FROM SUPERNOVA'S CONCLUSIONS I have nothing to hide

I just saw a reel of someone saying they dnfed The Secret History because it’s “so racist and homophobic”.

And they proceeded to say that they will never pick up a dark academia book again because they don’t care anymore about “what people consider dark academia”

Reading comprehension levels are dropping to the deepest pits of Hell and “Limbo-dancing with the devil” as that one tumblr post put it once.

How is a book supposed to criticize certain things if they’re not allowed to portray them? If a story wants to show that bullying is bad it needs to show a character getting bullied, and it doesn’t have to spell it out for the reader “this is bad”

I know we make fun of some authors and writers sometimes for being so on the nose about some things, but when people like this exist can you blame them?

I’m mostly pissed because The Secret History is one of those books that are always so wildly misinterpreted. I remember people telling me to read it because it’s “so aesthetic”.

I delved into the book expecting it to be kind of pretentious because of the way people described it, but once i detached myself from that idea I found myself enjoying it so much.

It’s a wildly chaotic book that actually has a lot to say. The main characters are idiots and horrible, horrible people (wait till the user gets to the murder and incest part), and that’s okay, because they’re SUPPOSED to be like that.

thinking about how the hunger games were designed to prove that without society, order, government, someone to rule, we devolve into little more than animals, and how the games themselves prove over and over again that this is not true. We see it in every single game we witness.

Katniss placing flowers around Rue's body in the arena. Thresh sparing Katniss because she was kind to Rue, even though he was making it that much harder for himself to win.

Haymitch going back for Maysilee after hearing her scream even though their alliance had been broken. Haymitch holding her as she dies the same way Katniss did Rue.

Coral's "I can't have killed them all for nothing" when she realizes she's not going home. Lamina cutting down Marcus at great personal risk. And, my favorite moment in tbosas, Reaper collecting the bodies of his fellow tributes, his peers, even the ones who tried to kill him, into a pile. Taking the weapons from their hands. Closing their eyes and crossing their arms in the best approximation of a proper burial he can manage, covering them with the Capitol flag as a makeshift shroud.

The Games bring out the worst in people, yes. But despite the extreme circumstances, despite the exterior pressure of the Capitol, despite the fact that it could mean pain and heartbreak and death, it also shows that people have an enormous capacity for goodness. That even in a situation purposefully designed to make empathy impossible, people can't help but have it anyway.

Snow looks at the Games and all he can see is what's inside himself-- this pure animalistic drive to conquer and defeat. He kills and it feels good and he thinks that everyone else must feel that way too. He doesn't realize (maybe can't realize) that he is the exception, not the rule. He cannot see outside himself, outside his own warped perspective, to realize that the fact that people do show humanity in the games proves his entire worldview wrong.

Man it is SUCH a good thing that Ace Anarchy never found out his other niece survived. SUCH a good thing like, seeing how he was able to use Nova for his purposes IMAGINE what could have happened with Maggie.

Maggie, who was waiting for ANYONE to come claim her she wouldn't have been picky she just wanted someone to come get her. Maggie who has HIS SAME powers, the same potential to be him but better, him but correct for his weaknesses. She HAS the telekinesis she's SURVIVED before just as he did. Maggie who Ace could get the Puppeteer to control if it ever came to that. But how long would that even take? If young Maggie ended up in a position like Nova's, with her powers with a STRONG fascination with the helmet, a strong need to stay with the only people that claimed her? I think he'd have a much stronger grip on her than Nova. Of course, he'd be limited by his injury after the battle for Gatlon, probably would be Maggie's saving grace. But still, I fully think Maggie would have been so easy to exploit

Well y'know according to my hcs of her at that age. We'll still have to see how MM characterizes her in any flashbacks to precanon in the sequel series (WHEN not IF cuz flashbacks will be NECESSARY)

it really is crazy how quickly people were willing to just let chatgpt do everything for them. i have never even tried it. brother i don't even know if it's just a website you go to or what. i do not know where chatgpt actually lives, because i can decide my own grocery list.
