every interaction buck has had with eddie since loudly declaring that he's absolutely not in love with him (he was a renter), has pretty clearly shown a deeply loving, understanding, supportive relationship between two people trying to navigate the minefield of parenthood whilst also just being there for each other with everyday life stuff. they are literally being written as a married couple right before our eyes!!!!!!!

the way that buck was so assertive and confident when telling eddie what he should do in relation to chris/bettering their relationship really highlights how sure he is of his role in their lives. buck really said those are his boys and he knows what they need. and he was right.

eddie has more skill lore than any other character on this show. perfect firefighter and paramedic staff sergeant in the army with a silver star mma fighter car guy who can illegally change a tire in less than 5 minutes champion ballroom dancer who was so good he could have gone to college on that talent poker nights with his bosses basketball every other thursday baseball pitcher at some point he loves going to the beach with chris and watching telenovelas. he is the best dad in the world. not perfect just the best. and by the way he can cook now. Who is doing it like this

cannot stop thinking about chris's shy hopeful "you'll be my dad again?" like goddddd

so okay. he went with his grandparents to get some space after a trauma. that's probably actually helpful at first. but then.. weeks start to go by and his dad hasn't come to get him or told chris he needs to come home. and then he starts to get inundated with snide little comments from his grandparents (who he also loves!!) insinuating eddie wasn't/couldn't be a good dad to him, which chris then interprets as them saying eddie doesn't want to be his dad anymore. which, in chris's mind is definitely a thing that happens sometimes right? like sometimes your mom decides she doesn't wanna be your mom anymore and just leaves in the middle of the fucking night. so here's this fourteen year-old thinking he literally drove yet another parent away and his grandparents aren't doing a fucking thing to dissuade him from that notion, in fact they're actively encouraging it!!!! like just when i thought i couldn't hate them any more than i already did..

And well i’m an eddiegirl so like let me say. I think it’s universally acknowledged that what buck is looking for, what buck wants and crucially NEEDS, is someone who will listen to him, and see him, and pay attention to him, and care about his thoughts and what he has to say and him, as a person. Someone who will LET him be the best he can be, this guy who loves so hard and wants to wade into the mess. It’s not about whether it’s accepted that he believes in curses or adopts a dog in the middle of a tantrum. Eddie is here looking to Buck at every turn in this situation that is SO fragile to him, where he feels like THE most important thing in his life is at stake. Chris is his heart and soul. Eddie NEEDS him. And when he’s not feeling surefooted he draws from that endless well of love and devotion and FAITH Buck has in him. He TRUSTS buck. He LISTENS. Deeply. Seriously. He takes it to heart. Because he sees Buck as his partner. THIS IS WHAT BUCK WANTS. WHAT BUCK HAS ALWAYS WANTED. Someone who treasures his love and care so much, someone who lets him know them this deeply, someone who doesn’t see him as a disappointment but as a compass and a light. That’s what he IS to eddie!!!!!!!! THAT’S HOW MUCH EDDIE LOVES HIM. That’s the kind of love Buck has been desperate for and the kind of love that makes him act like a deranged fucking freak!!!!!!

living happily in my world where maddie had to listen to her brother meltdown about the implication of being in love with his straight best friend and just. took a picture of him. in his adorable little housewife apron. and went. hmm i wonder who would enjoy this. and sent it to eddie. who she never speaks to. and eddie seeing a text from maddie and freaking out. lunging for his phone only to see a beautiful picture of buck practically glowing. and he's like :) thank you maddie :). and then he sets it as his little contact picture for buck. and he's just smiling to himself for the rest of the day.

I was super jealous. You? Over what? All of you. The 118. How it's become like a family over there.

the domesticity of the facetime calls. like buck is cooking at work... reading his mail... this is just their routine. they used to involve each other in everything in person, but now they are involving each other in everything 800 miles away. even more than last week, those facetime calls say so much to me. they are showing a true partnership. buck is the only person in the world that gets to see every side of eddie. the only person eddie calls immediately after a perceived failure because buck's opinion is THAT important to eddie. they are a team. each other's person. and each other's biggest support. no one else could call eddie out the way buck does. no one else can anticipate buck's needs like eddie does. and soon, they will realize they are in love. and best friends. and partners. yay <3

literally this is the scene. hen’s birthday dinner and bobby and Athena are there because of course. that makes sense. buck comes in from doing yardwork or working on their car or whatever he’s doing and he’s like “all done :) anything else you want me to do?” and Karen’s like “can you clean out the gutters please :)” and he’s like “sure!!” and then he goes back outside and bobby and athena look at henren like this 🤨🤨 and hen’s like “he’s been climbing the walls since eddie left so we’ve been helping him keep busy 🤷‍♀️” and bathena are like ahhh yes. and then they just go back to their meal
