Minty Studies

@mintystudies

Hi my name’s Minty and I am a student in Scotland, currently doing my Higher year.
I love reading and studying and my dream is to go to Oxford, this account is to hold me accountable and help connect me to others with similar goals

Hiya!

My name (as far as you guys are concerned) is Minty. I'm currently in my Higher year in Scotland studying English, Latin, History, RMPS and Biology. I want to apply to Oxford next academic year to study English Literature, and I hope to some day become a lawyer. This account was created in January of 2025 to help keep me accountable with my study goals and plans during my mocks. Prize for anyone who guesses what my favourite colour is!

Back to my daily blogs! Short post this evening because I am very tired.

Today I achieved... Finished my final Assignment! 90 minutes of Biology revision Law Soc meeting English poetry test short workout 2L water drunk applied for some jobs and work experience woke up at 5.00 requested extra help for my History work which I have been putting off doing - remember it is totally ok to ask for help, there is no shame in making mistakes!

All in all it was a very productive and successful day.

You can look forward to more of my posts in the coming days because I will be beginning studying for my Higher exams.

I will also be back to posting my regular wellness posts, and I was thinking of doing some posts about my reading list? Let me know if you guys have any requests

xoxo, Minty

Hi guys, sorry for not being active in the last month, school has been really rough :(

I have been taking time off of content creation to focus on my assignment, but my last assignment (history) is tomorrow, so I will be back to posting regular study motivation and self care tips.

If y'all have any content requests, or you sent me something in the last month that I haven't replied to, then please feel free to message me!

How do you go to sleep on time? I want to have a consistent sleep schedule, but whenever I try to I procrastinate and prioritise everything else but sleep.

Honestly? I've been a chronic insomniac since I was nine, so I can't give you tips on how to fall asleep, but I can help you with everything I know.

  1. set up your wifi to kick your work device off at a reasonable time, you can always reverse this but the laptop disconnecting is normally a pretty strong reminder that you should be in bed.
  2. schedule properly and stick to it so you get your stuff done earlier in the day, and then don't have to stay up late to finish it. If you have a big essay do it first thing in the morning, and then do less important stuff later on.
  3. Avoid caffeinated drinks during evening work sessions.
  4. Eat earlier in the evening to trick your body into thinking it is nearly bed time
  5. Do not work in your bedroom, make a separate space so that it is not as easy to just decide to work when you should be sleeping
  6. If you can, then make sure you stay off a device as much as possible in the evening, or turn blue light off on your device
  7. have a set night routine that works for you and force yourself to stick to it for a week. It will be so hard at first but it will become habit quicker than you would think.

Hope this helps!

“For 2,600 years, those of us in the Western tradition have been assured that the role of humanity is to subdue the earth. That all creation was created for us to harvest. And for 2,600 years we pretty much got away with it. Temperatures remained constant, seasons stayed predictable, and we cut down forests and fished out oceans and elevated one god above all others: Growth.”

“I think when people heard about my brother they assumed that I had gone into neuroscience out of a sense of duty to him, but the truth is I’d started this work not because I wanted to help people, but because it seemed like the hardest thing you could do, and I wanted to do the hardest thing. I wanted to flay any mental weakness off my body like fascia from muscle.”

Scientific Method

Picture the ocean. No. Picture the entire thing, all at once. You are not doing it. It’s okay. One day something terrible will happen, and I will not be prepared.

How to be like Paris Geller

Academic

Paris was obsessed with achieving, She joined every society she could, every class she could, every competition she could. She did all her work, all the extra work , and she then made up extra assignments for herself. She was planning college entries from a very young age and she had a rigorous schedule of volunteering. Now take it from someone who has a pretty similar obsessive manner, this is not healthy. You have to allow yourself to take breaks regularly or you will burn out. If you want to be like Paris in a healthy way focus on volunteering for a few charities, do a sensible amount of classes, but don't put too much pressure on yourself.

Social

Paris didn't have many friends and people didn't like her intense manner, but everyone respected her. She worked hard and visibly so, which meant people looked up to her. When she wanted to have a position on the student government, she won because people genuinely believed she would do the best job. If you work hard and show off your dedication the respect will come.

Style

Paris always chose comfort over style. Buy whatever clothes you feel comfortable. Wear leggings and joggers, cozy jumpers, long sleeved t-shirts when you're hanging out casually. If you're working then buy some long skirts, trousers, blazers and shirts, smart but comfy and practical.

This is the last one I'll be making but if you have any requests for other icons you want to see them message me or comment on one of these posts, or send me an ask.
