Miss Elaney Draws

@misselaney / misselaney.tumblr.com

Hi, I'm a web comic artist who likes TTRPGs and coding. I make a webcomic called Ikon and I draw, paint, and make art tutorials. This is my art blog!

I actually have a webcomic. It's a folk horror set in 17th century eastern europe. It has a suprising number of onimous birds. You can check it out here . :)

Upior is a comic you should go read look at it, LOOK AT IT. Hexie's artwork is very simultaneously meticulous and simple, atmospheric, and her comic is laced with the thoroughness that comes out of somebody putting their passion into something. Go read Upior.

Today is Webcomic day so I want to post a few chapter covers for my comic Ikon: Eternal Life For A Living, which you can read for free online. Ikon is a supernatural crime story about a dead guy and a deaf guy trying very hard not to die as they navigate an occult art smuggling ring to pay off medical bills and stop an immortal curse. Check out Ikon on Comic Fury.

It's webcomic day so I'm gonna remind you guys about my two current projects! A City with no Future - a story about two chaotic siblings getting in trouble in a city with two working radio stations and a half-legal fighting tournament. Sea Tramps - a graphic novel about a small pirate crew in a world full of legendary creatures, conflicts over resources and lots of seawater.

Also! Check out those amazing comics!

Pokrzyk is a very talented comic artist with intriguing world building whose work you should go read!! Go read Sea Tramps and A City With No Future :D

last tutorial from september: the comic shots tutorial. when i was a younger more impressionable artist, my favorite comic author said to draw comic panels like frames of a storyboard or a movie. now that iโ€™m older and have my own thoughts, i understand why someone would say something that i feel is frequently so wrong.

originally, i had a big comics tutorial planned, but iโ€™ve decided to break it down into smaller tutorials. comics are all about efficiency because they are so time-consuming. anything that saves the artist time is a relief, so this is simply a reference for quickly determining what kind of basic shot to use and why a basic shot might lookย โ€œweirdโ€ until you give it a simple fix by cropping it differently. in art, rules beg to be broken, so donโ€™t take it as advice you canโ€™t go against. shot choice is very complex, but iโ€™ll save thoughts on that for a later tutorial.

I call this the Cultural Ouroboros because it's all just going round in circles but crucially I am not immune!! I will watch videos titled "Conservative Comedy is Out of Control" and "This Influencer said WHAT About My Little Pony?!"

A different form is the squillions of debunking videos or point by point video replies (remember when video replies were a thing on YouTube??), where as much as the creators decry the dangerous life hacks or terrible ideologies they're dealing with, they rely on them for a relatively easy paycheck.

It's all fairly harmless so long as you view it and engage with it as what it is: entertainment. Gossip content. A mental meringue. But if you start seeing Barbie 5 times to own the cons then please use that time washing up at a soup kitchen or writing to your representatives.

Also start using the phrase "cultural ouroboros" because I'm proud of it ok and I'm a neurodivergent enby so you'll score secret lib points

in the classic fairy tale that everyone knows, "mermaid and the butch", bellena is a quirky girl living in.... fucking france or something, and everyone thinks she's off for some reason but never point out it's because she's a floating sparkling mermaid

the woman she's into, aleks (not to be confused with aleks, aleks, aleks, aleks or aleks) is a nosy piece of shit who doesn't realize looking through someone's sketchbook is like reading their diary. sadly it is too late.

what was your original fandom. like not the one you first started with on tumblr. the first bit of media that you made content for

sugar

spice

and everything nice

these were the ingredients chosen to make the perfect little girl

BUT PROFESSOR UTONIUM ACCIDENTALLY ADDED AN EXTRA INGREDIENT TO THE CONCOCTION
