BioWare uses AI in Dragon Age: The Veilguard codex cards
And I think it's not only there - most of the armor looks like the use AI for references.
But about the codex: this applies to the Grey Warden cards. First, a general view:
All cards in different styles made by different artists. But my eyes caught on this:
It's the same art that was run through AI-editor. And these cards are nearby, in the same game! Maximum disrespect for the work of the artist who made the original art (for DAI btw). The codex contains a few cards with this style, let's see the details:
They all was AI generated. I thought I couldn't be more disappointed in BioWare, but it turns out there is.
with regards to Epler pointing out that their decision to wipe Southern Thedas off the map because 'things don't stay fixed'... So your solution is to completely throw away that thing that keeps breaking? Not keep fixing it in the future? Because we know what Blight does. Half of Antiva, damn near all of Anderfels and all of Sea of Ash are sterile deserts where nothing can really grow properly a thousand years later because of the Blight?
That's not repairing things that can't stay fixed. That's just throwing the entire toy away. And what does that communicate to playrs who spent hundreds of hours trying to make a difference?
What is dragon age even about anymore? What is its message? 'Don't bother playing, nothing you'll ever do, matters?'
Yeah. Why SHOULD I care?
the lore inconsistencies with the blight in this game are actually exhausting. 'the rules have changed the blight has changed' okay but make it make sense within the changes please like
the blight is the titans dreams gone mad with rage okay. red lyrium is lyrium infected with the blight. except that section of red lyrium in harding's quest which is... angry... but somehow not infected with the blight... even though we know what red lyrium is from inquisition
the calling eventually kills you but there's a bunch of super blighted wardens who've been alive for ages underground. isseya has been alive since the 4th blight. these wardens aren't even proper darkspawn they're just Really Corrupted
there's that ominous 'theres something in the blight' quest you do in the wetlands that just turns out to be a giant blight growth. darkspawn appear from blight pools now. also apparently in the wetlands there's just a bunch of flowers happily thriving beneath the blight that are fine once the blight is removed. did we forget the western approach. that the land is barren after it's infected with the blight.
it's super easy to become infected with the blight, except if you're rook and co apparently because that blighted status sure doesn't really have any consequences. spEAKING OF which neve/bellara become super duper infected by the blight to the point they can control it and yet afterwards... they're fine?? they're fine!! there's no cure for the blight except apparently you can just shake it off. the hero of fereldan has been searching for a cure for decades but could've just shrugged it off apparently!
In Crestwood, the Inquisitor discovers the awful truth of the town: during the Blight, Mayor Dedrick sent the refugees and the blight-sick to Old Crestwood in an effort to quarantine them, but the sickness spread, and the darkspawn came, so he opened the dam and flooded the town, drowning the sick and the refugees and the darkspawn all. A terrible thing. Maybe a necessary thing.
Crestwood is part of Inquisition's critical path, and like everything on that path it's there, thematically, to teach the player something about the antagonist (that they do not yet know is the antagonist): by creating the Veil, and by wanting to take down the Veil, Solas has done, and plans to do, a terrible thing. Maybe a necessary thing.
In D'Meta's Crossing, Rook discovers the awful truth of the town: Mayor Julius sold D'Meta's Crossing out to the evanuris for gold. He was corrupt, and he wanted power. It's a terrible thing, done for terrible reasons, by a terrible person.
D'Meta's Crossing is part of Veilguard's critical path, and the game explicitly tells the player that the reason they did this quest is to teach them about their antagonists: they do terrible things for terrible reasons, because they are terrible. Look for the terrible people, hero, and there you will find your quarry.
things i learned today:
- solas could've avoided this whole mess and probably had enough free time to take lavellan on a nice little date if he just took up archdemon hunting instead of all the rituals and the other dastardly deeds
- lucanis won't romance rook if they go to minrathous but will romance neve because despite saying he's cool, he's not cool
- everyone's nice and no one has slaves or anything because *checks forearm* the blight
- all your companions get along with you and each other because also the blight
- even though he's like, really manipulative and uses people all the time, solas accumulated but then gave up an entire army's worth of spies and agents because he decided he wasn't ready for a management position
- red lyrium isn't really around because—and you are not gonna believe this—the blight
- solas just lies. all the time, outright, to everyone. so I guess he was actually only super careful to not ever actively lie in Inquisition as like a fun little challenge to himself
- tying the veil to his life force (you know, the guy who couldn't even take down an archdemon on his own and actually just got his ass beat so is not in great shape in the best ending) fully repaired the veil! \o/ don't ask how you wouldn't understand it it's not a big—
- everyone near minrathous is cured of the blight! but @ everyone else you may be entitled to compensation 🥀
- the only ritual solas has ever gotten or will ever get right is cleansing the idol into the ritual dagger. good thing too bc it was way more dangerous than this one. other than that, wrong about everything ever
- elven magic is like not that big a deal, dude
- the griffons are, unfortunately, long-term fucked
- the elves don't see the crossroads differently anymore because uh.. because....... war
- spite does not get involved in rookanis sexytimes. so perhaps him spreading his wings was actually just in preparation to leave bc ew they're kissing gross
- NO ONE cares about the goddamn spirits
