wait okay so what major themes are the other companions representing?

I saw someone on reddit talk about how Karlach's story is a direct parallel to terminal illness.

Astarion's is clearly (often sexual) trauma and abuse.

Gale is about depression, self-worth issues and self-destructive thoughts.

those are the ones I'm certain off.

I think Shadowheart's story has a growing up in a cult theme but there might be more to her, I admit I'm not that familiar with her character. Wyll seems to be exploring the feelings of high expectations and pressure from family that a lot of young adults deal with? Lae'zel is really difficult to me cus I'm struggling to separate what is her story and what is just general githyanki lore, she has basically a child warrior vibe but so do all githyanki, so maybe her personal story is more about questioning the teachings of your elders (in terms of religion and/or political views) and learning to think for yourself? idk she has so many layers she just confuses the fuck out of me, if anyone has felt like they related to Lae'zel cus her story handled themes that were close to you I'd love to hear about it. lastly, I know fuck all about Minthara, and Halsin has a lot of great themes but I don't believe he's a direct representation of anything specific purely cus he was never meant to be a companion, I don't think he's quite as deep and fleshed out as the other ones. still shout out to his "unwanted responsibilities/feeling guilt and blame for events beyond his control/looking for his place in the world" vibes.

I think Wyll doesn't fit as someone with expectations from his family because the plot doesn't explore much of his childhood and he has no reason to follow his father's will other than his conscience.

I think his story shows that the fate of many virtuous people is self-torture and being kind to others in this cruel world can turn life into a real hell
