About this Blog

Hello! I’m Morgane Boyd, a college-aged writer that focuses on YA (and possibly middle-grade?) novels. I write a variety of genres, but my favorite is fantasy.

While I do have another writeblr blog, this will hopefully be a more “professional” writing space for me. Compare this to my office, while my main blog is more of my bedroom.

This space will be a bit under construction for the next few weeks, while I decide exactly how to craft this space and balance it with my other blog. I will also have an author website set up, so that’ll likely be promoted somewhere on here, also.

I’ll have some more posts on here soon!

Guess who finally has a newsletter????

That's right: after a long time of saying I would make a newsletter, I finally bit the bullet and did it. Feel free to signup here, and I'll be posting the actual first newsletter in about 2 hours :D

(I'm new to this software but I *believe* it will be accessible through a webpage even after the posting time, so you can catch up if you miss signing up email-wise!)

New blog post is up! Doing it a little backwards this year and wrote the 2024-In-Review post a week after the 2025 goals post, but we're going with it with pride. Hey, maybe it'll be the new trend for next year, right?

Either way, read it now!

me while writing: ah yes, this character should do this, it feels so natural with what they're saying

me while editing: why the FUCK does he lean on the doorway SEVENTEEN TIMES IN THIS CHAPTER

New blog post is up! Though I haven't gotten around to my full 2024 year in review yet, I wanted to share my goals for this upcoming year. There's a lot I want to do, so I'll certainly be keeping myself busy over the next 51.5 weeks from now.

Read it now!

After far too long, another blog post! This week, we've got some talking about my impromptu, DIY writer's retreat that I got to do over my Thanksgiving break! Main thing I learned: May can't come soon enough.

Check it out now!

After an unplanned hiatus, I have returned with a blog post!

Finally, I reflect on the publication of Ghosts of the Steel Road and everything around putting my work out there professionally for the first time. It's been a surreal adventure, but one I've been happy to be on.

Read my latest post for more!

GHOSTS OF THE STEEL ROAD: NOW AVAILABLE!!!

Follow the first installment of Melandra's story starting today in paperback or ebook format! Both are available on Amazon, and as a self-published author, if you read and enjoy, please consider leaving a review.

Wondering what Ghosts of the Steel Road is about? Check out the back cover copy here:

There are two kinds of people in life: somebodies and nobodies. Know exactly which one you are. Melandra Godfrey may not have had a good life, but it was at least a predictable life. Her father, the last private detective in Zarothe, may have had his long list of rules and the money never added up right, but at least both of those factors were consistent. But when Melandra’s father goes out of town on whatat first seems like a normal job, Melandra’s world becomes unpredictable. A string of murders stokes fears of cult activity. An on-and-off friend warns of strange dangers. A mysterious man arrives at her door with an even more mysterious letter. The Steel Road, the ever-present crux of trade in Zarothe, holds the key to the mysteries around Melandra and throughout her whole life. Getting the answers she wants may mean doing the very thing Melandra hates most: becoming somebody.

FOUR DAYS UNTIL GHOSTS OF THE STEEL ROAD RELEASES!!!

It's surreal that release week is this week. Definitely haven't done the level of marketing that I wanted (especially on Instagram, bc damn it's so hard for me to stay consistent on there), but I'm still proud of going through the process for the first time.

Stay tuned to hear more about the novel throughout the week, and feel free to preorder the ebook if you think you'll be too impatient for the paperback to ship ;)
