so we never really see what Billy did after he got the spirits of Texan soldiers as his warlock patron, but we can all agree he murdered his entire class right?
at minimum his bullies died under mysterious circumstances, but one way or another this kid is definitely a murderer
like, this adult man is fully prepared to knife this teenager because a bunch of kids don't want to be possessed by ghosts, there is no way this dude isn't a serial killer
Jentry Chau vs The Underworld reminds me of Star Vs in the best way possible and I am so glad I decided to watch this show.
The titles are similar. Both protagonists are girls with supernatural powers, relatives that try their best to hide insane family drama from them, and two love interests with different but not opposite personalities. The good side and the bad side blur and confuse the protagonist as the show progresses. I could go on and on about the similarities between the two shows. Also I was so delighted to find out that Brian H. Kim(the composer/songwriter of svtfoe) composed jcvtu’s soundtracks! I used to listen to svtfoe’s songs posted on his tumblr in middle school.
So far, I prefer jcvtu to svtfoe because everything about the former is clear, focused on one topic. It has a love triangle but I think the show didn’t choose to focus on it so it’s not really a distraction from Jentry’s story; her endeavors, her trauma, and all the things she has to deal with as the consequences of her family’s choices. It doesn’t get boring or complicated at all. Said love triangle is just one of the tools/stories that tell stuff about Jentry.
Each character has flaws that make them stand out/tell who they are and sometimes I like being annoyed by them(especially vice principal, gugu, etc.). It’s their thing.
I don’t have much to say about the fandom because… it’s really small. Of course it doesn’t have as much problems as the Star vs fandom does.
you guys remember that time Jentry and Gugu went to the Zhong, and Gugu admitted to Jentry that she sacrificed her only chance at the great beyond to be condemned to an eternity of wandering the earth just so she could help her niece out?
it was when she was explaining ghosts to Jentry, and I think everyone just kind of glossed over that fact
point is Gugu is a complex character
not to throw hands on main but it's crazy that some of y'all will forgive a boy for planning to kill someone (in exchange for a soul tbf), rejecting a love confession in her stead and falsely claiming that she's actually going out with him, refusing to accept no for an answer, and going into her house without her permission or knowledge to steal from her, but will hate on a girl for rejecting his romantic advances because she did it on the grounds of a trait that he couldn't control.
