I like some things

Linda. 40s. European. Welcome to the delicious mess that is my Tumblr blog. Agatha Christie, L.M. Montgomery, Sherlock Holmes, Star Trek, Marvel, self-improvement, writing, photography, cats, quotes. Sam Claflin. (A lot of Sam Claflin.)

Cat lady. Anti-heroine. Madwoman in the attic. Heretic. Part fairy godmother, part problematic aunt. I support women's rights and women's wrongs. That one Sam Claflin fan who hates Me Before You and Love Rosie. Game of Thrones ending defender.

Other points of interest: Daphne du Maurier, Dracula (the book), The Count of Monte Cristo. Gilmore Girls. Taylor Swift.

Adults only please. If you see me post something that resonates with you, great. Interact if you want to. If not, move along, nothing to see here.

I write original fiction (short stories) primarily, and post them on the above mentioned Wordpress writing blog. I don't write much fanfic, but I have written some pieces for Billy x Camila of Daisy Jones and the Six, as I cannot accept what the show has done with them.

Co-stars of Sam Claflin that I would like to see him work with again

Nabiyah Be - bc she has dimples like him, so they can be a dimples duo

Suki Waterhouse - the most maddening thing is that she actually has worked with him again (and I don't mean Loathe Rosie). She's in All The Devils Are Here, but unfortunately that film is gathering dust on someone's shelf without a distributor to get it out. It's doubtful we'll ever see its release.

Ian McShane - he was in Pillars of the Earth, Sam's very first acting job, and also in Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides, Sam's first Hollywood film and he also appeared in Snow White and the Hunstman. Sam has had a ton of many different roles since then, so it would be fun if he worked with Ian again!

Henry Cavill - everything pointed towards Enola Holmes being a thing I should have liked. And I would if it hadn't been for Sam's horrible Mycroft. Sam and Henry can play plausible brothers, they have a similar look, except in Enola, Henry got prettied up, while Sam was given a ridiculous cartoon villain look. So for me to enjoy seeing these two together, it would have to be in something different and better. (Unless Sam took part in Enola again, with a better look and a character development, but that's unlikely at this stage.)

Jennifer Lawrence - someone once commented under one of my posts that Katniss had more chemistry with Finnick than the breadboy and while normally I'm allergic to that phrase, I take it when it suits me (honestly it just means good acting). I'm not the biggest fan of Katniss, I don't mind her as such, but she's such a lousy narrator. Give me J.Law in Red Sparrow any day! Or give me her and Sam in another project.

Holliday Granger - she has worked with him three times, so why not fourth

Kristen Stewart - she has worked with him twice, so why not a third

Vanessa Kirby - she plays his gf in Me Before You, the one that gets vilified by the narrative, but I'm Team Alicia all the way (they were a true Alpha couple, hence why I headcanon that the whole story only happens in Louisa's head and Will never had any accident; it's also why so much of the story makes no sense, bc Louisa is a very stupid person). Let them have a whole film together.

Matthew McFadyen - his role in Pillars of the Earth was much bigger than Sam's and he also plays an older version of the protagonist of Any Human Heart, whereas Sam plays the youngest version. It would interesting if they co-starred again.

Camila Morrone - bc of course I will say that

These are just some that spring to mind but honestly, I like most of Sam's co-stars, or at worst am neutral about them. The disliked ones are a tiny sliver of percentage, I can assure you! (And I'm not counting the ones that had allegations come out about them, like Seb Chacon, or Noel Clarke. Hearing about Noel was really disappointing bc I used to root for him.)

I started writing again, sort of, slowly slowly from the shadows, but now I got stuck.

I've got these two character meet at a seaside cafe, but now I'm thinking it's not possible for a man an a woman to do so in 1840 in England... is it? It's being a pain to research whether anything like cafes or tea shops existed at that time. The woman is a widow in her 40s, so it's not that she needs to worry about her reputation or whatever. Also, she kinda doesn't give a fuck. So idk... maybe better just having them meet at the promenade, or a park?

Flowers in the Attic The Origin started on Channel 5 in UK and I've just seen the first episode and it was legit good? I don't know why I thought it wouldn't be, or that it would not be worth watching at all, but no. I really liked it. The episodes seem long, but so far nothing felt like it dragged. I will be tuning in for the rest of the series!

I read the whole FITA series over 20 years ago for the first time and recently only got the first 2 books on my Kindle, but I think I will get the remaining books now too. It's good to have a bit of V.C. Andrews in one's life!

What are the odds on me mustering enough audacity to email Barnaby Roper to ask him what the hell is going on with All The Devils Are Here film? He's the director. Thing is, he's also a photographer and I looked at his shots and I legit like them, so if I complimented him on them, it would be genuine. And I think this film might be really nice visually, if nothing else, it's set in Dartmoor,

The production company behind this movie is T-Street, Rian Johnson's company that also did the Knives Out films. And Knives Out is my favourite film. Everything points to this being a good project, and yet. They're sitting on it.

So, I didn't muster any audacity. I find it less daunting to email a company than a person, though he most likely has assistants checking his email anyway. I couldn't find any contact info for T-Street. I'm out of options.

Is there a food side of Tumblr? Would anyone have any tips for some low-carb meals for a lazy cook? No allergies/intolerances otherwise, just lighter on the carbs.

Idk if this counts as lazy but: charred ceasar

Marinate and sear a chicken breast (you can pound it to 1/2 thickness for faster cooking)

Blend together 3 parts plain Greek yogurt, 1 part mayo, squeeze of half a lemon, drizzle of olive oil, minced garlic, black pepper, tiny dot of anchovy paste

Cut a head of romaine in half lengthwise. Rub on a bit of olive oil on each half. Top with Parmesan and put very close under a very hot broiler for a brief amount of time. You want the cheese melted/top toasted a bit but you don’t want it too cooked. Remove and plate.

Add croutons, chicken, and your homemade dressing. I always end up eating the whole half head of lettuce and it’s very filling.

Honestly OP salads are really handy in general, even un-charred. If you aren't sure what to put in a salad, just use whatever you'd put on a sandwich. Similarly, many deli chains will let you do a sandwich bowl or lettuce wrap.

Charcuterie is also nice. Meat and cheese baby. (If you don't have allergies you could also try those almond-based crackers? Not sure what the carb count is on those because I'm allergic to nuts lol)

Do a taco or burrito bowl instead of using a tortilla. Beans and rice and corn are all carby so look into how much you're adding per your dietary desires, but you said low carb not no carb so like definitely add some.

Breakfast food: bacon, eggs, sausage. Cheese and bacon and spinach in an omelette or scrambled eggs can be pretty good and no carbs at all. Also hash browns are often fewer carbs than you'd think, so look into that as an option (and an over easy fried egg yolk in hash brown is a joy).

Your classic "chicken breast and a veggie" can actually be tasty, just actually season your shit. Also roasting veggies is delicious. Or, cut them up and stir fry them together.

Source: I'm diabetic (AND have food allergies) and have to have carbs within a certain range per meal/snack. tbh with some of these the challenge is to add ENOUGH carb.

Oh these are good, thank you!
