The amount of people I've had to practically fistfight over this on Pinterest is CRAZY, their main argument is that pink isn't a feminine colour and that using his sense of fashion in the manga or official art is off limits because.. "his taste in clothing doesn't reflect his actual preferences"?
Sure ಠ_ಠ, ignoring the pink and the clothing, he still has a slightly feminine face which he embraces and brags about, longer than average hair which he doesn't feel the need to cut, long well trimmed nails, long eyelashes and an attraction to anything cute or aesthetic. "All those things are only considered feminine by society" YES WELL BOTH MITSUBA AND AIDAIRO ARE AWARE OF GENDER NORMS IN SOCIETY JUST AS MUCH AS YOU ELIZABETH243. Mitsuba knows he's deemed as "girly" for the way he looks and acts but wakes up every morning and actively chooses not to change that. He enjoys expressing himself in a way deemed feminine (which he knows of) whether you like it or not.
The definite worst argument is the precedent: "He hates being viewed as feminine" argument.
It's just infuriating, literally misinformation being spread before my own eyes. Also a very good example of people making up "facts" to support their ideas. I can only assume this stems from
"Mitsuba hates being called a girl"
"Mitsuba hates being called girly"
"Mitsuba hates being called feminine"
"Mitsuba hates being feminine"
These are also people that are convinced that "femboy" is derogatory, which is plain concerning.
Sorry this was meant to be a quick agreement with your stance and turned into a rant... Whoops.
