Deep Sea headcanon that Shenxiu grows up being able to see spirits after her encounter with Nanhe and his restaurant. After finishing art school she buys a boat because in her teen years she started diving regularly with a waterproof camera to get references for her paintings. Which leads to her art that depicts underwater landscapes and animals and a certain restaurant becoming famous.

Always diving with underlying hope of meeting her friends and Nanhe again. The ending of Nanhe being dead did happen but I imagine the restaurants inhabitants became some kind of spirits. And maybe just maybe the events not only gave her the ability to interact with ghosts/spirits but also altered her body because she became spirit-touched. Like slower aging or something and that's why she never stays at one place with her boat.

Until one day years and years later

she' staying near the place where her childhood trip started it's course. And diving there she spots a black shadow. Moving. Just barely out of her sight.
