Sorry if you've already been asked this but in your AU, was baby Epel like a lil grub/worm/caterpillar? And he became a moth when he grew up a bit, or did he just start out as a lil baby moth?
Lil bud came out of the egg as a larva/caterpillar!! Bugfolks like Epel start off as larva for the first few months, doing absolutely nothing but eating and sleeping all day. The last month they turn into a cocoon, which lasts the whole full month. They're basically hibernating while transforming (it's also why they eat so much, literally preparing for this one single month) and after officially turning 1 years old, he breaks out into a beautiful lil funky moth (hungry as fuck), and then continuing to grow as a moth for the rest of his life.
That's basically the average life of a bugfolk they're only a fat little worm for a very short amount of time </3
