unstable fixations

@nicxxx5

nic - she/they - 23 - autistic and smth queer i'll tell you that much - revamping my tumblr to embrace all my hyperfixations

Pinned

About me:

hello! i’m finally doing this!

- name: nic

- pronouns: she/they

- age: 23

- gender/sexuality: 🤷‍♀️idk but i’m thinking im agender/ace. one thing for sure is i’m not straight, this shit’s just confusing

- i’m autistic and have generalized anxiety and i think i have adhd and dyslexia

- i have many hyperfixations/spins (i.e. stranger things, heartstopper, the owl house, stray kids, spiderman/marvel, the umbrella academy, shadow and bone, jurassic park) - this is also the order in which i most to least fixate on currently (update: 9-1-1 is my current obsession)

- i’ve also seen the least amount of movies, guarantee if you name it i probably haven’t seen it 😁

- minors, i probably will not interact with you that much, but you can still follow and send messages and i probably will answer if not right away!

- dni if: racist, homophobic, ableist, transphobic, sexist, a p3do, etc. you get it

- i’m very bad at reading tone and i can be very bad at expressing my tone as well. my wording can also be very shit so bear with me on some things (i spend like 20 minutes trying to figure out how to type something before posting it

idk how these things work so i hope i did this well!

i love re-consuming media i used to love when i was younger. like wow! child me still is in me i am holding her hand and keeping her safe and doing her favorite things with her!!!!

okay but no really can i talk about how buck's "eddie has a silver star" line, while ridiculous and adorable, is also like a perfect example of the twisty kinds of logic trails neurodivergent brains go on?

like you've got two things going on here simultaneously

first is this:

  • buck trusts eddie and his judgment plus
  • eddie is not usually the type to do something illegal as far as buck knows leads to
  • if eddie is doing this thing buck doesn't know enough about it's probably not illegal
  • and he's not going to think about it more because if it is illegal than he'd feel ever so slightly weird about doing crimes with eddie* *-i have Thoughts about buck's moral compass but that's another post entirely

which then gets combined with:

  • buck respects eddie
  • the respect is part of the reason he trusts eddie so much
  • people who don't know eddie find him respectable because of the things he's done in his various jobs
  • ravi is a fellow first responder so that's not gonna convey why this is respectable
  • the silver star is something people respect and proof eddie should be respected

and the outcome is "eddie would never do something illegal. (because i don't know if this is illegal but i trust eddie and i would trust him a tiny bit less if this was illegal) eddie has a silver star (which is proof of him being an upstanding and respected member of society so you should respect and trust him like i do)"

boy is soooo audhd it's delightful

“…and read the room.” Ma’am, he is autistic, he is incapable of doing that.

I'm scared everyday on the job. Every time I take a door I think about all the times it went south on me. Every car I pull over I think about the driver's whom met me, with a gun. But then I think about all the people who need my protection. And make myself more afraid for them, then I am for myself.

Autistic!Bucky Barnes Headcanons

I lowkey went wild with these this is a YAP fest 😝 autistic Bucky I love you 🙏

🩶 Bro actually went his whole life undiagnosed because he learned to mask VERY well VERY young, and because in his early life he didn’t require a lot of support! He did eventually get diagnosed OFFICIALLY around TFATWS cos of his therapist, but everyone including him had pretty much accepted/agreed he had it way earlier than that

🌹 His special interest WAS birds he collected all things birds ! And he liked to watch them early in the mornings and all that jazz, but then it got lost after everything that happened

Listen, I'm having fun playing with the ultra patriotic voice, but after a couple years in blue-collar landscaping jobs, you really do need to phrase things like that.

"I'm pretty sure that fella ain't here legally."

"Well, that ain't your business Chip, it's his."

They hate being preached to. If you pull out words like 'gender wage gap' they'll tell you you're brainwashed by the far left media.

"He's one of them transgenders."

"He got freedoms too, Jimmy."

Also, please understand that SO often the real issue these people have is that they just want to say something inappropriate. They don't like being told they can't say "fag", so they'd say it for a reaction, just like a teenager would.

Shut down the conversation without reacting.

"His dick, not mine" will get you much further to shutting that guy down than "well it's really inappropriate to call someone a slur while I'm the job site".

And that's the point. To shut them up. To make them quit saying shit like that. The first one makes him seem kinda weird for caring about what that guy does with his dick. The second one gives him something to fight against and make a big deal about.

code-switching matters for communicating across cultures of all varieties
