matt just fired half the remaining tumblr support staff lmao
from my sources adjacent to tumblr--from which i can spread rumors and insider information freely because i dont give a fuck about ever working in the tech sector--im hearing this round of firings was focused on purging the senior staff, and not just from support but from the entire remaining tumblr workforce. i'm hearing there are about 25 people left.
This is important, people. Please don't scroll past this one.
While I don't think that Tumblr is about to shut down anytime soon, as a fandom old who lost my community and my people when the fandom diaspora happened from LiveJournal, I want to urge that you do something NOW:
- Get your backup account(s) elsewhere NOW
- Let your moots know your username(s) at those places NOW
- Follow your moots at their places NOW
I mean this with all my heart. Get this done now. Get set up and find your people now. Tumblr is the home of fandom now, just as LiveJournal was the home of fandom way back. And you could end up losing your fandom home just as easily and quickly as us old LJ people did way back then.
It's a horrible feeling, and most old LJ users still mourn the loss of it to this day.

Currently working on: The next chapter of Olivia's fic (Love to Hate and Hate to Love) and also fleshing out Annabella for her fic!
God I’m looking forward to going on leave for two weeks next week…
What my head of service does, when he complains about people talking g in the office, is to log into a meeting and not use any headphones. Then, when we talk (which is mainly about work issues) he tells us to be quiet because he’s in a meeting
And yes, there are free meetings rooms and he does have headphones 🙃

Annabella Mayfair. Recently hired at Rupert's latest personal assistant and already proving herself more successful than the last few.
Determined not to be just another stereotype, she has thus far resisted any attempt of Rupert's to try and seduce her. All she wants is to try and settle into her new life away from London.
But as the saying goes- it's easier said than done.

it wild to me that there are people out there who aren't interested in history
like wdym you don't think about the fact that women would tell stories as they made butter in the same way we listen to podcasts today? wdym you don't think about that one Chinese poet who wrote about how much he loved his cats hundreds of years ago? wdym you don't think about the fact that we found a gravesite of a young child surrounded by flowers from THOUSANDS of years ago? wdym you don't think about how people wrote "i was here" into the walls in Pompeii? wdym you don't think about the little egyptian boy who drew little doodles at the top of his school works more then a thousand years ago?
wdym you don't think about the fact that people, no matter the place, time, social status, are fundamentally no different from you. that they loved the same as you, enjoyed the same things you did, dreamed about a better life the same way you did. that despite how seemingly detached you are from these people, in time, place, and culture, the things you do and the thing u are, are so undeniably human that it transcends time and space
