"--don't cancel the Witch Weekly subscription, alright? I'm going to have it sent to Hogwarts."

Harry stared at her, framed in the billowing smoke of the Hogwarts Express in the dwindling moments before departure, a bark of laughter wrenched from him against his will. "This is your goodbye confession?"

"I--" Ginny paused, seemed to think better of whatever she'd been about to say, and nodded. "Yes."

"I fucking knew it."

"I read it ironically!" Ginny laughed, that spark of mischief catching fire in her eyes. "I swear!"

"Sure."

"Plus, I heard the next one is a special issue. Can't miss that."

Harry eyed her warily. "What?"

"Sexiest Wizard of 1998. I might have a dragon in the race this time."

Harry leveled a look at her, unwilling to connect those dots. "You're joking."

"Don't cancel it." Ginny stepped closer to him, lightly running her fingers along the front of his Auror robes. "I'll need something to look forward to."

Her warm brown eyes bore into his, and he swallowed the rush of emotion. How did she manage it? How did she always manage to make him laugh, even when she was about to reach into his chest and rip out his heart to store in her school trunk?

She stood on her tiptoes and pressed her lips to his, and he pulled her in flush against him, not caring about all of the people on the platform who were probably snapping photos for Witch Weekly's special issue.

He'd only had her back for a few months, and now that bloody train was about to put thousands of miles of distance between them. Again. But he was determined it would be different this time. They were different this time.

He pulled back from the kiss and looked down at her, trying to memorize every freckle. "I won't cancel Witch Weekly." I'd do anything you asked.

Ginny offered him a sad, commiserating, brave little smile. We'll be okay. "I know."

April 3rd: Distance

Also on AO3

.

Ginny entered the dormitory, closing the door behind her. She leaned against the door, willing her breathing to slow and her hands to stop shaking.

It was another day of the Carrow's wrath. Another day of innocent children being tortured and punished for things out of their control. Another day of Ginny spending endless hours comforting and helping the children to the best of her ability, all while keeping up a brave front.

She slowly walked to her bed, her breath coming out in harsh huffs and her hands running through her hair. She sat on the edge of her bed, with her head bent low, choked sobs escaping her lips.

She felt like she was living a nightmare in which no matter how hard she tried, she could not get out of it or save anyone else. The place she had once called home was shrouded in darkness and misery. She had been comforting a first-year girl, a victim of the Carrow's anger. She had been crying profusely, saying again and again that she wanted to go home. The young witches and wizards who had been so excited to start their new life at Hogwarts want nothing more than to live it all together.

Ginny closed her eyes, tears streaming down her face. She tried to think of happier times when her only worries consisted of homework and Quidditch. She thought about the days she would spend with her family and friends, lounging in the Burrow, flying with Ron and Harry-

Her breath hitched as green eyes and messy hair filled her memory and she screwed her eyes shut.

Almost against her will, her mind was invaded by memories of lazy summer days, running her hands through messy black locks, and lopsided grins that made her heart skip a beat. She remembered running hand in hand through corridors, laughing, trying to find a broom closet and hide from Filch. She remembered soft touches and heated kisses that made her weak at the knees and yearned for more.

She snapped her eyes open, coming back to the present. Her breathing had returned to normal and her heart rate had slowed. She was quite astonished at the calming effect those memories had on her.

Those moments seemed such a great distance away, almost like a dream. A dream she once attained but lost because she had fallen in love with a courageous and noble man. He should not have to fight or risk his life. He should not be a target or doomed to die since birth.

But power and immortality are more important than love, are they not?

one thing that interests me about hinny is that like he literally thinks of her as he's going to die?? like that's a crazy intense experience for any relationship to have. it's not surprising to me that they might move quickly afterwards because they've had to make this literally life and death commitment--what is marriage and kids in the face of having walked to your death thinking of someone, with fighting and dying by someone's side. like no one else is ever going to have that experience with him. the last thing on his mind when he genuinely thinks he's gonna die will always have been her. even if they break up--like the next person has something crazy to live up to. and this is the case though not as extreme for all of the war couples because they've been forced into making life-or-death choices. this one fic I read years ago had this OC having to choose like her boyfriend or someone else's life and she chose the boyfriend. and then later they broke up because that choice ended up being too much? and also just like normal breakup reasons, but I think they were still hung up on each other bc they'd had this crazy experience together. which no one could ever match (at least you would hope not lol). so no wonder so many people get married after the war.

Ginny went to visit the shrieking shack with Luna. And Luna started telling a strange story about the screams not being from ghosts but from a boy who was a werewolf and who lived a long time ago in the neighborhood and his best friends were a rat, a dog and a deer.

Ignoring the fact that at one point in his life, Harry depended on Ginny for emotional support and solace, this self-claimed author would like to bring light on the fact that yes, Harry and Ginny were indeed a best-friends to lovers trope as much as Hermione and Ron were.

Sure, there was never much light on how Harry and Ginny's story started, but it was slow. From strangers to his best friend's sister, to a worthy opponent and teammate in Quidditch, to a trusted comrade in war, it's impossible to ignore what came in between.

And that was the quiet nights spent talking, the friendly banter during Quidditch, Harry seeking Ginny out when the world became a tad too much for him, Ginny calling out Harry for his pompous heroism and self-sacrifice, Harry being there during Ginny's reckless moments and her boy troubles, the after-class conversations beside the lake, the nights with spiced chocolate in the common room, Harry thinking to himself that he needed to tell Ginny what happened in class today and hurrying to find her, Ginny doing the same.

It was slow until Harry realised that indeed, it was Ginny's soft voice that got through him most times than not, and after that, it was not long before Ron and Hermione understood it too.

It came to a point where it was Ginny that they called anytime Harry was being a stubborn ass, and it was Harry that they called anytime Ginny got into her wild, reckless fits that made them think she'd burn down the world at any moment.

It started them depending on each other emotionally, before they realized that in fact, they couldn't lose one another at all.

And that was also how they realized, that indeed, they were in love.

am i the only one who thinks harry becoming an auror is not an out of character or unrealistic choice for a career? yes he hated the corruption in the ministry and the way things were run and no he wouldn’t want to be in any real position of power, but rounding up and capturing all remaining deatheaters? putting a stop to pureblood supremacist groups? trying to make the world a better place for people like teddy, aka the orphaned boy whose parents died fighting in a war so the rest of them could live in a peaceful world, free from discrimination, persecution, genocide etc? do i think this is a burden he should have to carry around? of course not. but do i think it’s actually very in character for him to work at the ministry and try to make a better, safer and fairer world for everyone? yes!

that being said, do i still believe him becoming a teacher is also in character and a perfect canon full circle moment for him? HELL yes. and in my mind, he took over as the dada professor after about ten-fifteen years at the ministry. maybe when he’s in his mid-late thirties, he’s thinking he wants to spend more time with his kids, and ginny is very supportive of him not putting himself in danger every day at work. so while he’s still an auror, mcgonnagal gets him to come guest lecture every now and again over the years at hogwarts for dada while he’s still at the ministry, and ginny reminds him how much he loved teaching the da, and how he should take a step back, because he isn’t responsible for stopping every single bad thing that happens. he can and should live his own life too. so he eventually takes up the job full time, to mcgonagall’s delight (and neville’s), but he floos to and from work every day, because he only agreed to be a professor on the condition he could teach all day but live/sleep at home (being away from ginny and the kids wouldn’t have worked for him, let’s be real). and that is the end of my rant, thank you for listening.

@ginnystrophyhusband prompt: blood-traitor

Ginny heard Harry sigh while he was reading James’ letter. She immediately looked up and saw her husband was wearing a deep frown.

“Is he okay?” she asked.

“Yes,” he said quickly. “It’s just… some people have been calling him a blood-traitor.”

She stood up and walked to him. “He’s a strong boy. He’ll be okay.”

Harry met her eyes. “What surprises me more is that people are still some magical people out there who think it’s okay to call people such names. What if next letter he tells us they called his new friend a mudblood?” He laid the letter down on the table.

“Let’s hope not.”

“Did it ever offend you to be called a blood-traitor?”

“No.” She squeezed his shoulder. “I always had pride in it. James knows better. You need to trust he’ll make the right call.”

Harry didn’t seem to like that reply.

“And accept it that he may get detention for hexing people who call him or his friends names they shouldn’t.” She leaned against the table to look at it.

“Okay,” Harry said. “I am counting on it that he’ll get detention. He is our son after all.”

Ginny picked up the letter and read James’ words on her own. “Honestly, I think he was just telling you about his day. I don’t think he meant to worry you. I had five eggs for breakfast, got lost on the way to Potions, some people called me a blood traitor and my classmates don’t believe me when I say I’ll become a Quidditch star. It’s in my blood!” she quoted. “He’s too sure of himself to even think it would worry you. If something was up, Victoire would have written me.”

“She would?” Harry asked.

Ginny smiled. “I was going to keep her secrets about boys if she kept an eye on Jamesy.”

Harry huffed  and shook his head. “Right.”

“She’ll never tell her mother and I am fun auntie Ginny. At least if she’s about to do something stupid, I may be able to influence her somewhat,” she explained. She folded the letter up. “You didn’t ask Teddy?”

“Too much of a disregard for figures of authority,” Harry complained.

Ginny hummed. “I think he learned that from you.”

“Not.”

“Did,” she said with a smile. “James can handle being called a blood traitor. And I’m sure everyone knows his parents are not people to be messed with.”

Harry snorted. “I think James would be mortified if we would try to defend him.”

“Exactly.” She pushed off the table. “Which is why he will be eager to fight his own fights. Now Al….” She paused. “I’ll worry about him when he starts, but he’ll have James to watch out for him.”

“That’s not reassuring,” Harry mumbled.

“At least we don’t have to worry about Lily,” Ginny said with a chuckle. “She has got it handled.”

“Speaking of which, where is she?” Harry asked, looking outside for her.

“She’s upstairs doing a summoning circle.”

Harry looked rather alarmed.

“Oh. Most young witches go through a phase like that,” she said reassuringly.

Harry eyed her curiously. “Did you?” As if he already knew the answer, he then asked. “Did it work?”

“It took a few years, but yes.” She winked and turned around, walking into the kitchen.

ginny was possessed at age 11 by one of the most powerful wizards in the world.

carried around a fragment of his soul in her pocket for the better half of a year.

was incredibly isolated due to the abuse and manipulation

murdered roosters at the school, but having no memory of it, just covered in blood and feathers

attacked students unknowingly by allowing the basilisk out

had the courage and the sense to dispose of it when she thought something was wrong

was made to write her own farewell message on the wall, and walk to her death, and wait

her trauma is so overlooked, even harry forgets about it (and yes, he has a lot of trauma himself, so it’s understandable). i hate how little this is talked about when it comes to her as a character. it’s so integral to who she is, why she acts the way she does, how she understands harry in a way literally no one else can. it’s not the reason he loves her, but it’s a huge part of why they just get each other, without saying a word.

ginevra molly weasley deserves the world.

The cheering had not stopped, but Ginny Weasley was seeing green. An electric lime green, eyesore to the naked eye. When Bellatrix fired the killing curse at her, it was like she had thrown her a timebomb instead. She saw it approaching slowly and decidedly towards her. Saw the ripples and the manic shaking of the curse. But she could not move. So much for those Quidditch reflexes, easily rendered feeble.

Part 4: Cupboard

A March 2025 Hinny Microfic for @ginnystrophyhusband using Prompt 10

307 words (Woo Hoo!)

All the March prompts that I write will be set in the same universe as, and form a prequel to, this fic. Hopefully they'll all stand alone, but they'll also form a little story of their own, which is why they're numbered.

Fair warning - it's going to be fluffy! Except this one is every so slightly not. But only a tiny bit.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It’s only a cupboard.
Harry stands in the hall, staring at the door.
It’s small and narrow, and made of wood that’s painted with old, yellowing varnish. It has a brass handle. It’s a perfectly ordinary door.
On a cupboard.
Under the stairs.
No big deal.
Except it is.
Wanna find your fav old fic but it's now lost? 60/90 GB of aaronmelzak's Harry Potter Fanfic Archive Is Now Hosted Via Me In Accessible Format
For the people that can't spare the space/time, I've uploaded 60 GB out of the original 90 GB. Reason I didn't upload the entirety is because of space issues, but hopefully I have your favourite site's archive. Last update to this full archive was in 2023, and earliest fics I can see go as far back as 2000 (doesn't mean there aren't any even earlier seeing as the FFN archive is in here). Directories are in one folder- except for the HPFFcom collection, which is its own. Open zips with winrar/7zip/etc.
✨️What I included is under. cut. Go here for folder✨️
Valentine Competition and Poetry Chaos
Breakfast was a quiet affair that morning.
Harry was reading the Daily Prophet and sipping on his tea. Six-year-old James was eating his cereals whilst Ginny was coaxing a stubborn two-year-old Lily to eat some porridge. But all Lily was interested in were the blueberries. Harry’s four-year-old son Albus was peering around Harry, trying to look at the moving pictures whilst nibbling on his apple slices. Harry enjoyed Albus’s company and reading the paper with him.
Albus was at that innocent stage where he would ask questions and Harry would do his best to answer them no matter how daft they were. As Harry explained to Albus why the graduates from Durmstrang would climb all the way to the top of Mount Everest with the help of the Bubble-Head Charm, only for them to fly off on their brooms, something caught his eye.
I loveee this
It can be safely presumed that Ginny Weasley has always been a good writer. The fact that she used to maintain a personal diary and grew up to become a sports editor is enough proof of that. Her witty dialogues, her yapping tendencies, and her social circle in the book solidify her image as an engaging, outgoing, and creative person in general.
Harry Potter, on the other hand, is a socially awkward mess. Yes, he is a natural leader, but more often than not we have witnessed that his life was not in his control. He had to struggle for it. Whether it be basic love & affection, career, camaraderie, and sometimes even friendship. He is a touch-starved man who grew up in the most toxic environment for 10 years, yet he grew up to become an epic, a beloved hero.
The crux is that Ginny Weasley, writer extraordinaire, came up with the most basic yet the cutest poem for her crush!
His eyes are as green as a fresh pickled toad,
His hair is as dark as a blackboard
I wish he was mine, he's really divine,
The hero who conquered the Dark Lord.”
Yes, this is cute but not something you expect from a writeress at heart. Picked toads! Emeralds or even peridots would have been a better fit.
At the same time, Harry Potter, the eternally awkward legend, came up with the most romantic poetry ever, and that too even before he realised that he was in love with the one Ginevra Molly Weasley!
“She dived under the table to retrieve the bowl and emerged with her face glowing like the setting sun.”
This is only the context from the Chamber of Secrets, but do you see what I'm trying to say?
We tend to be our most natural selves in love, but at the same time, the greatest poets are reduced to stuttering, and the most awkward person ever starts to exhale sonnets!
The bold, brilliant, sunshine Ginevra was reduced to the vocabulary of a bumpkin, and the awkward, aloof, ostracised Harry subconsciously composed unsurpassed romantic poetry!
The fact that our touch-starved Harry initiated their hug and their sunlit first kiss and our social sky siren Ginevra was all elbows in the butter dish!!! Loving her comes naturally to him! That's true love right there!
Harry and Ginny is not ‘she fell first, he fell harder’; it's ‘she fell first, he fell second, and both of them are still falling’ or should I say flying!
They are a phenomenon!
Anonymous asked:
Your answer reminded me of a fic I read years ago where Harry and Ginny got into an argument at a party, and people were taking sides. Next thing you know Harry and Ginny are going off on everyone who said the other was wrong, because how dare you say my perfect boyfriend/girlfriend is wrong? Only I can say that! It turns into hinny versus everyone else, and they are all confused because they were literally agreeing with one of them and now it’s somehow their fault for taking sides. It ends with everyone arguing with everyone and Hinny sneaking off to shag and telling each other how imperfectly perfect they are. It was brilliant 🤣
If anyone knows what the fic is PLEASE SEND IT TO ME IMMEDIATELY!
